In 2023, IIT Bombay held Phase 1 placements where students got job offers from many top companies in India and other countries. The highest Indian offer was INR 3.67 crore per year, and the highest international offer was INR 1.31 crore per year. This shows that companies value the education and training provided by IIT Bombay. The average salary offered was INR 23.26 LPA, which is higher than the previous year.
Out of the 1,648 offers received, 1,431 students accepted job offers, which is a great achievement. Many students received job offers with a salary of over INR 1 crore per year, which shows that IIT Bombay provides high-quality education and there is a lot of demand for skilled graduates.
The placement scenario for Electrical Engineering at IIT Kanpur is second only to the CS department. It is the largest department of IIT Kanpur, and it has maintained a successful placement record over the past few years.
The various specializations offered under EE are VLSI, SPCom, RF & Microwave, Power Engineering, Control & Automation.

Salary packages:
I am the right person who can answer this question because my brother recently completed his BTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi. He revealed the actual side of the placements in Electrical, the side that no media covers and is the dark reality.
Indeed there are packages as high as INR 70 LPA, but these opportunities are outside India in countries like Singapore, South Korea, the US or the UK. Other core jobs offered to Electrical students are limited to India and are very few with average packages.
The only perk of being a student of this branch is that it is a general branch covering diverse sectors and you are open to sitting for placements in all sectors be it Finance, Consultancy, Core, Coding, or Data Science. Electrical Engineering is a generalized and vast branch. However, the packages for these are mediocre with the highest around 25 LPA (CTC). The in-hand salary is much lower.
The companies offering the highest packages in India include
Other companies offer average packages in the range of 15-16 LPA only.
The primary factor to judge the credibility of an institute is to analyze the placement trends of the Institute. Through this analysis, you can determine the number of companies that visit the campus for placements and the kind of profiles that are offered by them, the median CTC, and other factors.
The following analysis is just to give you an idea as it is from 2021.

Overall, the highest international and domestic package offered during IIT Roorkee placements 2022-23 placements stood at INR 1.06 crore per annum and INR 1.30 crore per annum, respectively. More than 365 offers were made during the first day itself with the total number of offers standing at 500. The top recruiters included leading companies such as Tata Steel, Uber, and Bajaj Auto.
A number of central government PSUs and other government firms hire Electrical Engineers. Some of these government institutions include- ISRO, DRDL, BHEL, PGCL etc. Therefore, for government jobs both Civil and Electrical Engineering from Thapar University are a good option.
However, for private sector jobs, Electrical Engineering from Thapar University is a better option. Even for research opportunities, Electrical is a better option than Civil Engineering. In areas like wireless power transmission, solar efficiency improvement, etc. a breakthrough will fetch you a lot of patents.
Go for Civil if you are genuinely interested in this branch. You can also go for research in this field. But for Civil, the importance of R&D in the Indian market is quite low. Internships will be difficult for you to get in this branch and switching to software is not easy. The Civil coursework will not challenge you and you might develop laziness. However, as a Civil Engineer, if you have a few contacts and can establish your own firm, you will make good money.
As far as streams are concerned, Electrical is a better option than Civil. However, I would suggest you talk to Thapar University alums to figure out which branch gets more placement offers at Thapar. You should find out which branch has a better faculty and placement offers before making a choice.
IIT BHU Electrical's average package is around INR 26 LPA. The department observes a decent placement scenario with more than 98% of students getting placed every year. Out of these, 85% are placed in the non-coding sector. The institute does not release official data on branch-wise placements so I collected data from unofficial sources. Based on that, the highest salary package offered was around INR 66 LPA, the lowest was around 14 LPA, and the average was 26 LPA.
Top recruiters who recruited Electrical students are Microsoft, Amazon, Gravitron, BNY Mellon, etc. Some of the top roles offered are SDE, HFT, quantum computing, and data analysis. Almost all students got internships. My friend got an internship at Samsung, Delhi for 2 months.

IIT Indore has started operating from its permanent campus. Life here is very fulfilling and vibrant. The first year is light on your academics and you will have enough time to participate in club activities and extracurriculars. The seniors help you in every possible way. Life here is very dynamic and college fests are held in even semesters.
The infrastructure of IIT Indore is relatively new and still needs development.
The EE branch of IIT Indore has a highly qualified faculty pool with the most learned professors. The curriculum is very challenging with many mathematical concepts. But if you attend the classes regularly you won’t face any major issues. What matters the most is your genuine interest in the branch.
All in all, maintain a good CGPA and make the most of your 4 years ahead! What matters is how well you avail the opportunities that compare your way.
The Electrical Department of IIT Indore is well-regarded and provides excellent education and opportunities to its students. The department has a qualified pool of professors and assistant professors who have expertise in their respective fields.
There are a number of technical clubs like the electronics club and robotics club which bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical exposure.
Here is a list of achievements of students from the IIT Indore electrical department.
Thus the electrical department is an excellent choice provided that you maintain good grades along with good coding skills.
The Electrical Engineering branch of DTU has a wide scope in terms of academics as well as placements. Students are exposed to a wide range of future prospects and the opportunities are plentiful.
You will be highly disappointed with the academic environment here. The curriculum is poorly structured, obsolete, and irrelevant to industrial needs. The faculty is not passionate about teaching and tends to deliver bookish concepts only. The classes conducted are boring, the students do last-minute mugging up for concepts and get low scores.
Placements-wide, DTU will not disappoint you much. Decent companies come and hire those with decent grades. Some core companies also make great offers. Then again, EE placements cannot be compared to CS or IT placements.
As far as internships are concerned, not even a single core company offers internships to EE students. Usually, coding companies like Amazon and Directl offer internships but EE students hardly are able to secure one.
Eventually, if you are an EE student, you will get placed in core/non-tech companies. Some even go for PSUs or pursue MBA or MS. Remember that the growth of students in EE is more than those in the IT sector. You will need patience and dedication to stay in this branch and reap the benefits in the long run.
My brother completed his B.Tech Electrical Engineering from NIT Silchar. According to him-
EE at NIT Silchar is not a department where you can relax. It demands a lot of hard work from its students. But once you show dedication and commitment, this department will enhance your personality and knowledge.
