Which college to choose between GL Bajaj in Greater Noida and IBMR in Gurgaon for PGDM/MBA?

RS
Rohan Sethi Posted On : March 23rd, 2021
Studied at JSS Academy Of Technical Education, Noida (2020)

It is important to think before applying to institutes like these as it has been evident by many students like colleges such as GL Bajaj in Greater Noida promises about various facilities, infrastructure and placements which they ultimately fail to provide. It has also been seen that Tier1 colleges fail to get all of their students placed in campus placement drives.

You can take another year for the preparation if they wish in order to get better colleges. and give another trial at CAT.

On the other hand, if you still want to choose between the two and do not want to prepare for another year, then you can go for IBMR in Gurgaon due to the following reasons:

  • The institute has a tie up with various Institutes to provide excellent education to the students of IBMR.
  • The fee structure is also reasonable in comparison with other institutions.
  • The Placement records are also good in IBMR.

Categories

IBMR Gurgaon

Highest CTC offered

INR 18.5 LPA

Average CTC offered

INR 8 LPA

Recruiting Companies

Microsoft, IBM, ITC, Wipro, etc.

In a city like Gurgaon, you will be able to find off campus placement if you don’t like or don’t receive the on campus placements; there are other scopes too.

Which is better for CS/ECE NIT Hamirpur, NIT Jalandhar, IIIT Kancheepuram, IIIT Jabalpur?

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : January 4th, 2023
Undergrad, IIIT Jabalpur

Keeping in mind the academic environment and placement statistics, the following should be the preferences:

CSE at NIT Hamirpur, IIIT Jabalpur, NIT Jalandhar, and IIIT Kancheepuram.

ECE at NIT Hamirpur, ECE at NIT Jalandhar, IIIT Kancheepuram, and then IIIT Jabalpur.

Choose a college with a broadband internet connection in the hostels for CSE. In general, the faculty at all of these colleges will be mediocre, and you will be forced to rely on the internet for your education. Once the CSE and hostel broadband requirements have been met, consider which college is closer to home, near a city, and not in a country where you do not speak the native language.

Is it worth it to go into 6 new IIMs (Ranchi, Rohtak, Raipur, Udaipur, Trichy & Kashipur) rather than going for an MS?

PS
Puneet Srivastava Posted On : January 5th, 2023
Selected in IIM-IPM'17

Before choosing a college, try to make sure what you are really interested in. If it is MS then don’t go for any IIM. This is because you can pursue an MBA later in life if MS did not work for you. But you will not get the chance to choose Ms after your MBA. Also since it’s your area of interest, chances are you might find your talents and may want to work on them.

Now if you are sure about the course but confused about the IIMs, I will give you my honest opinion. The new IIMs are enjoying fame and glory owing to the achievements of their predecessors alone. They haven’t done much to attain the level of older IIMs. These new IIMs are poorly organized. The faculty is below average, the infrastructure is substandard and the teaching is pathetic. Yet they are here to claim the coveted IIM tag.

So if you are someone for whom the tag of IIM and its high placement matters only, you can surely go for a new IIM. But if you value education over institutions then base your decision on research.

Which college is better for engineering, Sreenidhi or Vardhaman?

AE
Akshay Eklari Posted On : August 20th, 2021
M.Tech Software Engineering, Vardhaman College of Engineering (2014)

Vardhaman College of Engineering is a better option as compared to Sreenidhi. There are a few reasons for this.

  1. The college is known for its punctuality and demands the same of its students.
  2. If you are looking for quality education, Vardhaman College is better.
  3. Classroom appearance and placements are well developed as compared to Sreenidhi.
  4. However, with recent statistics, the highest package offered at Vardhaman is INR 12 lakhs per annum. The same at Sreenidhi is INR 14 lakhs per annum.

Lastly, as a student, there is better peer-to-peer interaction at Vardhaman College of Engineering. Eventually, it boils down to your choices as a student and what you are looking for in your college.

Which is better, FMS or IIM Lucknow?

S
Sagardeep Posted On : January 16th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (Graduated 2021)

When discussing a business school, the most common topics of conversation are diversity, peer learning, case competitions, learning culture, and placements.

Both FMS and IIM Lucknow have very different admissions criteria. Lucknow promotes academic diversity and places a high value on interview scores, whereas FMS places a greater emphasis on percentile.

Typically, classes in business schools last until five o'clock. If you stay on campus, you have the option of sleeping until 8 p.m. and then attending a club/committee event at 9 p.m. When you have in-house fields, you can relieve stress by playing football or cricket at night. You have the chance to run your own business at IIML thanks to their student-run enterprises on campus.

When it comes to faculty, case competitions, and academic curriculum, both brands are massive, and there are numerous opportunities. Additionally, since ROI is the topic of most discussion, FMS succeeds in this area if cost is a genuine concern.

Which is better, NIT Jamshedpur CSE or NIT Calicut EEE?

AS
Aditi Sharma Posted On : August 23rd, 2021
M.A. Political Science, Indira Gandhi National Open University (2020)

The process of selecting a suitable branch in a decent college after the JEE counseling process is pretty hectic and important. And the ideal way of going through all this process is realizing and following your interest.

The criteria for selecting a college should be based on the following.

  • Choice of branch
  • Choice of college
  • Average placement of that branch in the college
  • Infrastructure and hostel facility
  • Distance of the college from your hometown

One of the best things at any NIT is that you will get to interact with the best brains in the country. All the faculties at NIT are well qualified.

I have a few from NIT Jamshedpur so I can give you some ideas about the institute.

Pros of NIT Jamshedpur:

  • Private rooms to almost all students from the first year itself.
  • Active student clubs such as Phoenix and many others. They perform greatly at national and international levels.
  • Almost zero ragging.
  • Very helpful seniors
  • Well qualified professors
  • Excellent placement records for CSE and other branches as well. In 2021 the average and highest CTC offered was 15 and 37 LPA respectively.
  • Huge mess facility. The food is unmatchable and amazing.
  • Huge alumni network.

Lastly, I will advise that don’t choose an institute based on ranking, as ranking tends to change frequently.

Which college is better: NMIMS or SP Jain or new IIMs?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : October 26th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

I will rate these colleges out of 100 to give you a relative reference (where IIM A,B,C are a 100)-

  1. SP Jain- 95/100
  2. NMIMS- 80/100
  3. New IIMs (the best ones like Ranchi, Rohtak, Udaipur)- 70/100
  4. The other new IIMs- 50/100

Out of all these colleges, SP Jain is the best. It has a small batch size in comparison to NMIMS. Other than that, it has a unique, value based pedagogy, and renowned faculty.

Thus, SP Jain is the best option among these for your PGDM.

If you are considering pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Statistics (BStat) or Mathematics, it's important to know that Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) offers these programs at their Kolkata and Bangalore campuses. Here's what you need to know about each campus:

ISI Kolkata Campus:

  • ISI Kolkata is the main campus of the institute and offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Statistics and related fields.
  • The BStat program at ISI Kolkata is one of the most sought-after programs for students interested in pursuing a career in Statistics.

  • Students who complete the BStat program can go on to pursue higher studies in Statistics or pursue a career in fields such as data science, actuarial science, finance, and more.

ISI Bangalore Centre:

  • ISI Bangalore is a relatively newer campus of the institute, established in 2015.

How is BITS Goa compared to BITS Pilani? Is the placement and faculty much better at Pilani? Is BITS Goa a good viable option?

NB
Nishchay Bhalla Posted On : March 21st, 2023
studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2018)

When comparing BITS Pilani with BITS Goa, there are several factors that you should consider before making your decision:

  • Alumni strength: Pilani has a much older and more established campus, which means it has a larger alumni network in key positions in the government and private sectors. Goa, being a newer campus, has had a head start of only 19 years compared to Pilani's 59 years.
  • Student quality: Pilani has slightly smarter students than Goa, based on the difference in cutoffs between CSE + core branches in Pilani and Goa. The average difference is around 25, and for MSc branches, it's about 15-20. This points to the fact that Pilani folks are slightly smarter and more hardworking than Goa students, at least before joining the college.
  • Placements: BITS Pilani has an excellent placement record, with a 31.5% increase in average salary and a 35% increase in the highest salary over the previous year. The highest salary was INR 60.75 LPA, and the average salary was INR 30.7 LPA, with 109 recruiters participating in the placement drive. Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Visa, Adobe, and Cisco are among the top recruiters. While BITS Goa also has a consistently good placement record, it is slightly behind BITS Pilani in terms of average and highest salaries.
  • Faculty: BITS Pilani has a larger and more established campus with highly qualified and experienced faculty, but BITS Goa also has talented and experienced faculty.
  • Infrastructure: Both campuses have good infrastructure, but BITS Pilani has a larger campus and more facilities, which can sometimes make a difference in the quality of education.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to choose BITS Pilani or BITS Goa should be based on your personal preferences and goals. While BITS Pilani may have a slight edge in terms of faculty and infrastructure, BITS Goa is also a good viable option with a good reputation.

Which one is the best AIIMS or CMC Vellore for an MBBS?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 21st, 2023
lives in New Delhi

One of my friends was in a similar dilemma. He considered the following points while making his decision

  1. Most AIIMS undergraduates settle in the US or pursue higher education in top colleges in India while CMC graduates prefer CMC for their higher education only.
  2. Students of CMC are required to do bonds in mission hospitals so their higher education gets delayed. But this instills in them a strong sense of community-oriented healthcare. They tend to work in remote places of India without any personal glory. An AIIMS student can hardly be seen doing community service.
  3. AIIMS graduates publish more when compared to CMC graduates.
  4. CMC students get better hands-on experience and hence fare better in terms of clinical and Surgical skills. Right from the second year, they start assisting postgraduates in clinical work.
  5. If you are a non-Christian, it will be difficult to go through the entire training without a mission hospital

Ultimately, make a choice based on your demographics, preferences, and goals in life.
