Does a BBA grad of a 3rd tier college (IMS Dehradun) stand any chance of IIM/FMS/XLRI selection?

AB
Ankit Bharadwaj Posted On : May 31st, 2021
MBA BM, XLRI (2018)

The profile of a BBA graduate from a 3rd tier college that is IMS Dehradun is a below-average profile but when compared to the profile of all MBA aspirants, it’s not that bad as there is every kind of student who wants to pursue an MBA both better and worse than a BBA graduate from a 3rd tier college.

Instead of giving up or dropping a year, you should prepare for the entrance exam, opt for the coaching or online classes, prepare well and give the exam once.

People seem to have this notion that graduation from college somehow affects your chance to get admission at top B-Schools. This is not true at all and B-Schools looks at profile, not college.

So, study hard and secure a good percentile in entrance exams. If you score high enough, you can definitely get admission to these colleges.

How hard is it to get a 4 0 GPA aggregate at IPM IIM Indore?

DT
Darryl Thomas Posted On : June 3rd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Indore

IIM Indore follows quality indices and has a 4.33-pointer grading system. Crossing 4 CGPA would mean you’re among the top 1% of your class which is a pretty huge deal. Now, is it impossible to score 4 or above grades? The simple answer is no which makes sense cause nothing is impossible right?

But you need to realize that it’s a relative grading system so in order to top the class you need to play your cards right. Analyze the professors and don’t compromise on any component be it class participation, quizzes or presentations. Get an A+ atleast in 80% of your subjects and you’re good to go.

One of my friends recently graduated from IIM Indore and according to her, there is an exit option after you complete 3-years of the IPM program. On the successful completion of the course, you will receive your B.A degree from the foundation of Management by IIM Indore, if you wish to leave.

There is also an option of a sabbatical for up to 2 years for select students for IPM.

BBA from Jamia Hamdard University is a well-respected degree program in India. The college has a strong academic foundation and practical experience in the field of business. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a broad-based understanding of business and management, as well as specialized knowledge in areas such as finance, marketing, and human resources.

One of my cousins pursued an MBA from Hamdard and works for an MNC bank today. Another was a student of BBA and was quite satisfied with Hamdard’s curriculum.

In all, a BBA from Jamia Hamdard University is considered a valuable asset for anyone looking to pursue a career in business or management.

Should I go for a B.Com Hons from Gargi College DU or a BBA from NMIMS Mumbai?

NS
Nikhil Shinde Posted On : March 14th, 2023
MBA from NMIMS Mumbai

If you are currently deciding between Gargi and NMIMS for your undergraduate studies, it is suggested that you consider opting for Gargi.

Classes for BBA in NMIMS are held in a government college building opposite the main building campus where the MBA classes are held. The infrastructure of the college is unkempt and not very impressive. In addition, the tuition fee is quite high at 2.25 lakhs per year, and the cost of living expenses can add up to approximately 4-5 lakhs per year, which includes the cost of the hostel. The hostel is cheaper, but they are Non-AC and usually unavailable on a first-come basis. Additionally, the placement reports at NMIMS may be inflated.

In contrast, Gargi is a well-known DU college with a much lower tuition fee of around 60-70k for three years. Living expenses in the Siri Fort area may be expensive, but they are definitely less than in Mumbai. Gargi is also visited by good companies, which means that you will have good placement opportunities after completing your studies. As both BCom and BBA courses are similar, you will receive equal opportunities after completing your undergraduate studies. However, Gargi would be a more cost-effective option with better infrastructure, making it a better choice overall

Which would be better? NMIMS Mumbai BBA or IIM Rohtak IPM (exit after 3rd year with a BBA degree)?

AM
Apoorva Murjani Posted On : January 18th, 2023
IIM Rohtak

IIM Rohtak is better if you want to join IPM there and graduate with a BBA after three years.

A BBA from IIM Rohtak is unquestionably more valuable than a BBA from NMIMS, Mumbai because the course curriculum and pedagogy are superior at IIMs, which use a trimester system rather than the traditional semester system used at NMIMS.

The placements will be similar between the two. However, NMIMS wins because, with only a BBA, you'd have to apply off-campus if you wanted to be placed at IIM Rohtak, as there are no placements for BBA students.

Keeping everything in mind, you should prioritize IIM Rohtak over NMIMS because of the IIM brand and because it is a less expensive option. At the end of the day, you still have the option of pursuing an MBA at IIM Rohtak, which you do not have at NMIMS, and CAT can be quite unpredictable and difficult.

What is the difficulty level of the IIM Indore IPM exam?

DT
Darryl Thomas Posted On : June 28th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Indore

IIM Indore IPM exam, like any other competitive exam, can be challenging for some students. This answer is section-wise and gives an idea of the level of difficulty in each section.

The Verbal Ability section is said to be the easiest section of the exam. The section consists mainly of reading comprehension questions and other types of questions such as “odd one out” and “fill in the most suitable word”. If you read habitually, it should make this portion easier. To increase reading skills, others should read newspapers daily.

The Quantitative Ability section is considered to be a bit tough in comparison to the Verbal Ability section. The questions are mainly from Algebra and Coordinate Geometry from the Class 11-12 curriculum. A few questions from Calculus and Statistics are also included. This section can be the make-or-break section for many students as it requires a lot of practice and knowledge of the basic concepts. It is recommended to practice NCERT solutions and move on to slightly harder books to improve one's skills in this section.

In conclusion, while the difficulty level of the IIM Indore IPM exam can be subjective, it is important to prepare well and have a good understanding of the basic concepts to crack the exam.

Is there any arts student in IPM IIM Indore batch recent and does they face any difficulties in coping up with the 3 years of IPM syllabus?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : May 10th, 2023

IPM course in IIM Indore has several Arts and Commerce students without math but your Admission is not limited by class 11–12 arts or math. The entrance Test covers some class 11 mathematical topics. As a non-math student in class 11–12, it will be challenging to keep up with the 3-year IPM syllabus, but if you have cleared the IPMAT test/exam then you should not have any problems during the course. You will have the below-mentioned courses in your curriculum;

  • Differential Calculus and Statistics in Term 1,
  • Probability and integral calculus in term 2,
  • Linear Algebra in term 3, and
  • Numerical analysis and Statistical method-2 in Term 4.

Your roommate, classmates, and professors know that you are not from a math background, so they'll help, and do peer learning. Just work harder.

Another significant thing is IPM also offers Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, English, and Political Science. So, don’t worry much, and enjoy your journey. Hope it helps, All the best!
