How is NIT Calicut for a B.Tech in material science?
B.Tech in material science in NIT CALICUT is a slightly underrated course as it is newly introduced. NIT Calicut also has an M.Tech course for material science.
The material science branch in NIT Calicut is a very promising branch despite being an underrated and newly introduced branch and has become an important part of NIT Calicut. This branch also has a dedicated department for nanotechnology. Recently they have made their college proud by preparing and distributing hand sanitizer in the entire campus and also in local sections of society to fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The placements of this department are not as great as in the computer science department as it is a newly introduced branch.
This is a research-oriented branch with a strong alumni network. Material Science is definitely a promising field and offers a lot of opportunities in higher studies. If you love nanoscience then you should go for this course.
What is the quality of students who take up CSE in KIIT?
I am a CSE student at KIIT. In my batch, there is a 10-pointer as well as a 7.5-pointer. I myself scored 9.31 in my first sem. I scored 85% in AISSCE but there are also students in my class who scored above 90%.
During our KIIT counseling, we were to be allotted our branches based on our ranks in the KIITEE. CSE seats were filled quickly. This is because the first preference of students is CSE, then EE, and then come the other branches like Mechanical, Civil, and others. The best rank holders in KIITEE choose the CSE branch.
CSE students at KIIT are not only good at their studies, but they are also very active in extracurriculars. The CSE department hosts great freshers’ parties and CSE has a good share of coordinators in fests and other events.
Overall, CSE students in KIIT are hardworking individuals who perform well not only in studies but also in other extracurricular activities.
How is civil at MNNIT Allahabad?
If you strictly want a 7-figure salary during the campus placements, then Civil Engineering is not for you, neither here at MNNIT Allahabad, nor at any other institute. Even IIT Bombay placement offers will not look lucrative compared to their other branches.
The actual reasons for which you should consider Civil Engineering at MNNIT Allahabad are as follows.
- Higher Studies: The GATE 2017 top 4 rank holders were from MNNIT Allahabad as was the 2nd rank holder in GATE 2016 in the Civil Engineering paper.
- Faculty: The faculty is much better than their non-core counterparts and is highly motivated to make their students flourish in the entrance exams. The results speak for themselves.
- Opportunities other than private companies – Government departments such as Public Works Department (PWD), Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), and various others who select candidates through Engineering Services Examination (ESE). Maharatna and Navratna PSUs take candidates who qualify GATE exam.
- Private Sector: Private Companies such as Gammon, L&T not only visit campus but also conduct off-campus drives and recruit students. Although the initial salary will be lower than top private IT companies.
So, if you are genuinely interested in civil engineering then there would not be any dearth of opportunities after completing the degree.
How is CSE at DTU?
The CSE branch at DTU is highly regarded for its curriculum and placements. Here is what you should consider
- Placements: Students who are proficient in Data Structures, Algorithms, and CS subjects receive plenty of opportunities. IT giants like Google, and Cure.Fit, Sprinklr, etc visit the campus both for internships and placements. Although the chances of CS students getting placed are high, DTU still hasn’t been able to achieve the 100% placement mark.
- Campus and hostel facilities: DTU does not have very good accommodation facilities and Delhi residents are not even offered hostels. You can find a PG nearby but that won’t give you the hostel life experience offered by other colleges.
- Course Subjects and Faculty: Unlike IITs, not all professors are highly qualified and learned. Some deliver lectures just for the sake of it. However, the relative basis marking here makes things easier so you can maintain a decent CGPA throughout.
- Computer Science Management: Like any other government institute the administration here is lethargic and matters are processed at a slow pace.
Ultimately, DTU should be your choice only if your goal is to get placed after enjoying good college life. But if you are a research enthusiast and want to pursue MS or Ph.D. in the future, then consider joining IIITD or NSUT instead.

VNIT Nagpur is a well known engineering college of India, with good infrastructure and placements. The Computer Science department is one of the best in the college.
The placements are good, but it mostly depends on your skillset. The highest package goes beyond 16 LPA. Most of the faculty members are Phd. holders, and have studied from prestigious institutes like University of Baltimore and University of Missouri. Having had a rich academic background, the teachers will offer you with valuable insights on this field. The average package touches 7 LPA and beyond, and companies like Morgan Stanley and Ittiam Systems hire students from the CSE department.
Overall, CSE in VNIT Nagpur is a good option.
What is the exact amount of money (donation) needed to get in CSE at Heritage Institute of Technology through the management quota?
The amount keeps changing every year. There is no fixed amount.
Nowadays, the college follows a system of seat-booking whereby you can book a seat if you are not quite sure about your admission to any college. You will have to pay a certain amount specified by the college and your seat will be booked in the stream that you want to opt for if you join the college.
The system is a little different and it is not exactly like the management quota in other colleges. The amount that you have to pay depends on which branch you want to opt for. The more demanding the branch, the more the amount of donation. For example, branches like Computer Science or Electronics are charged more than branches like Applied Instrumentation or Biotechnology.
I would recommend you book a seat and later decide whether you want to join or not. This will cost you less. But, you will have to decide within a short span of time otherwise the authority will move the list and give admission to a lower-ranked individual.
How is the placement in NIT Jamshedpur for mechanical?
NIT Jamshedpur offers a good placement for B.Tech Mechanical. The students receive placement offers both from IT and core companies, for good enough packages.
Some of the companies that recruit Mechanical students from NIT Jamshedpur are- TATA, John Deere and JK Tyres, among others. BPCL recruits the department students at high packages, and so, it has a special place in this list.
During 2023, B.Tech Mechanical recorded 100% placements at the college. The highest package was 21 LPA, and the average package was 10.25 LPA for B.Tech Mechanical, for that placement season.

- Placements- The placements are good. Almost 60% of companies visiting the campus offer jobs mainly to CSE students. Many companies even offer seven digit packages to this branch. Microsoft, Amazon and Oracle are some IT companies that offer placements to CSE students every year.
- Extracurriculars- You will get to participate in Hackathons and other competitions at the MIT campus. IE-CSE is the CSE club of this institute. It organizes workshops in which you can participate and enhance your skills.
- Facilities- CSE department has well equipped labs. MIT offers a good exposure to all its students.
- Crowd and Campus Life- You’ll meet people from different cultural backgrounds at MIT. The crowd is great and you’ll really enjoy your campus life over here.
The Main Campus of MIT is located in Manipal, as the name suggests. Manipal is a small university town in Karnataka, located 10 minutes away from Udupi. Around 25 institutes are located here. The nearest railway station to MIT is Udupi Railway Station (situated 10 minutes away from Manipal). The nearest metro station is located in Bangalore (an overnight / 8 hour bus ride from Manipal). The nearest Airport is in Mangalore (a 1 hour 15 minutes drive from the campus).
