I would deem IIM Kashipur as a far better choice than IIM Vizag. Some vital points that favor my inclination are

• Legacy: Being older than IIM Vizag, IIM Kashipur has a much stronger and widespread alumni network.
• Infrastructure: The outstanding infrastructure of IIM Kashipur cannot be compared to that of Vizag. It has amazing hostel facilities, a library, well-equipped classrooms, and libraries.
• Location: IIM Kashipur enjoys a better location than Vizag. But location cannot be the only deciding factor.
• Pedagogy: The learning environment and process are much more enhanced at IIM Kashipur. Under the mentorship of IIM Lucknow, Kashipur has successfully adapted to the teaching methods of older IIMs consisting of exams, events, and placements.
• Ranking: Because of a better alumni base, IIM Kashipur enjoys better brand recall. Hence it has better rankings.

All these points clearly state that IIM Kashipur is a better choice than IIM Vizag.

Don’t go for IIM Visakhapatnam if you are just attracted by the IIM tag. While it surely is part of the IIM family that does not necessarily mean it has the same standards. Between the two, SIBM Pune gives a slight edge to IIM Visakhapatnam. If you talk about them generally they definitely are good institutions, but they are not the best. IIM Visakhapatnam is not yet recognised at SIBM Pune.

But if your preference is staying in your hometown or other location factors and IIM Visakhapatnam is suitable for you, then go for it. Both are almost similar in terms of worth and academics. At the end of the day it’s not the institution but your own performance that matters.

 As an MBA aspirant, you should check the recent placements of IMI New Delhi, IIM-N, and IIM-V, faculty quality, student welfare avenues, and infrastructure to compare and evaluate different institutes. It's important to focus on median placement figures and adjust for batch size.

Good performance in corporate competitions can indicate peer quality and highlight the institute among recruiters. While the brand IIM tag may benefit baby IIMs, established institutes may have better locations, student activities, and industry and alumni connections.

IIM Kashipur and IIM Visakhapatnam both had strong placement records in 2022, with 150+ and 86+ recruiters respectively. The highest salary package offered at IIM Kashipur was INR 28.82 LPA, while the highest salary package offered at IIM Visakhapatnam was INR 31.60 LPA. Both institutes reported an increase in the average salary offered, with IIM Kashipur reporting an 8.256% increase and IIM Visakhapatnam reporting a 19.33% increase. Both institutes had a significant number of offers from major recruiters such as Amazon, Deloitte, HCL, etc. The highest number of recruiters came from the IT/ITES sector. The highest number of placements were made in the Consulting domain at IIM Visakhapatnam.

Both SP Jain and IIM Kozhikode are considered to be reputable management institutes in India, and they have their own unique features and advantages.

SP Jain has a fixed domain system where students have to choose a specific domain like finance or marketing in the beginning, and they cannot change it later. On the other hand, IIM Kozhikode has a flexible curriculum where students take a common first-year curriculum and then choose relevant domain-specific subjects in the second year. IIM Kozhikode has the advantage of the IIM brand name, which is considered to be one of the most prestigious in India. However, SP Jain has a more diverse student body as there is no reservation policy and the average placement package is higher than IIM Kozhikode.

IIM Vishakhapatnam, while being a newer IIM, is considered to be behind both SP Jain and IIM Kozhikode in terms of reputation and placements. Ultimately, the decision of which institute to choose depends on the individual student's preferences and career goals.
