Which is better, NIT Calicut ECE or IIT Dhanbad EE?

RC
Rishabh Chauhan Posted On : August 25th, 2021
B.Tech Information Technology, National Institute of Technology Durgapur (2018)

EE at IIT Dhanbad is unquestionably superior to NIT Calicut’s ECE. According to some of my friends studying at IIT Dhanbad, you should never lose the chance of studying at IIT Dhanbad.

  • So far as the branch is concerned, there is a minor difference.
  • ECE is more concerned with IT than EE.
  • But it doesn't matter if you're in a prestigious institution.
  • In reality, almost all branch students learn to code and apply to tech companies at IIT.
  • You will have plenty of opportunities to learn whatever you want at the institution.
  • It is entirely up to you whether you want to work in core companies or IT companies after completing EE.

Tabulated difference between these two institutes to give you a clear picture:

Categories ECE from NIT Calicut EE from IIT Dhanbad
Total course fee 5.48 lakhs 8.75 lakhs
Top recruiters ABB, Amadeus, amdocs, Ashok Leyland, Bajaj Auto, CADENCE, Cap Gemini Adobe, Amazon.com, Bridgestone, Cap Gemini, | Facebook, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, Google
Average salary package 8.1 LPA 9 LPA
Highest salary package 36 LPA 40 LPA

At the end, I just wanna say one thing that, IIT is a brand in itself, so this will undoubtedly assist you in some situations. So, if I were in your shoes, I would go with IIT Dhanbad without any hesitation.

What is the average placement for the EI branch in IET Lucknow?

MS
Madhuja Samaddar Posted On : August 5th, 2021
Studied at NIT Trichy (2019)

IET Lucknow is one of the famous colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Although being a Tier-3 college, it is preferred by students, as it is fully managed by the Government. One of my friends studied here and these are some of the facts I gathered from her about the college.

  • Most of the degree holders end up becoming clerks in services-based companies. Their salary packages range from 3-4 LPA.
  • There are various mass recruiting IT companies, mostly service-based companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, CTS, etc. which allow the students to sit in campus placements.
  • Once the highest package of IET Lucknow was 30 LPA by Amazon and the average package was 7 LPA.
  • Consulting seniors about placements will also help you a lot.
  • There are no such major opportunities for core placements for the EI branch.
  • But if you want a job in IT services, companies or firms then there are plenty of on-campus as well as off-campus opportunities.

These were some of the basic points you should know about placements. Also last year some of the students were placed in MNCs like DE Shaw, Code Nation, Amazon, Byju's, etc. If you want to prepare for GATE/CAT/GRE, there is a wonderful environment at IET Lucknow.

Which one to choose: NSIT's ICE (instrumentation and control eng) OR IIIT UNA CSE?

SA
Simran Arora Posted On : April 1st, 2021
Studied CS from NSIT (2019)

Firstly, you should know that IIIT UNA is a new college and although it has the IIIT tag, it hasn't been ranked by any esteemed Ranking platforms like NIRF. Its classes are also facilitated by NIT Hamirpur's faculty and the campus and faculty are nice.

As far as NSIT is concerned, it ranks #76 on the NIRF ranking portal for engineering and has a better location in Delhi than Hamirpur, because of the facilities and professional opportunities available.

Here are some more pointers to help you understand better -

  • If your interest lies in the program rather than the institute, then go for CSE. Although first reflect on the placement scenario of IIIT UNA, whether they receive good companies or not; if the package is satisfactory, and if speedy placements are facilitated after the course is over.
  • When you take a look at NSIT, then you should know that you'd be able to build a good career as a software engineer with the ICE program, but the management will be a little difficult because of the delicate balance between coursework and developing your programming skills.
  • Most ICE alumni are now pursuing MBA or working other non-technical jobs. For non-tech, NSIT offers better opportunities.

Here's a table on the placement scenario-

Parameters

IIIT UNA CSE

NSIT Instrumentation

Placement Rate

90%

85%

Average Salary

INR 6 LPA

INR 6 LPA

Highest Salary

INR 12 LPA

INR 50 LPA

Top Recruiters

IBM, Reliance, Analytics Quotient

Brain, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart

Lastly, decide according to your future goals and whether you'd like to pursue CSE or instrumentation.

  • If you want to choose between the colleges, consider some points.
  • These include Course fees, Facilities, Infrastructure, faculty, alumni network, placements, academics, etc.
  • But yes, if you are getting any decent NIT with a good branch then you should go for it.
  • If a particular branch is not your utmost priority, then you can go for the top NITs.

I have been allotted a seat at the University of Kalyani, in the branch of electronics and instrumentation. What information regarding it should I know?

DS
Disha Sen Posted On : October 1st, 2021
B.Tech Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering,University of Kalyani (2024)

Kalyani University is a very popular institution and pursuing an engineering degree from this university has its own pros and cons. Some of my friends studied there and here are the things I got to know from them.

Pros

  • This institution is owned and run by the government. The complete fees for your 4 years of graduation is less compared to other private colleges.
  • The faculty of this college is very good and all other staff members such as lab assistant, office staff, canteen staff are very helpful.
  • The university also hires some external professors having years of industry experience to teach and guide the students.
  • This gets them accustomed to the corporate culture.
  • The total number of students in this department is less so you will always have the chance to interact with your professors.

Cons

  • One of the biggest demerits of this university is that it doesn't have a proper placement cell in its campus.
  • Securing a job offer is tough, and you have to take the initiative yourself.
  • The infrastructure of this college is average. The computer lab, electronics lab, instrumentation lab don't have adequate facilities.
  • The campus is located in a remote area. But the transportation facility is okay.
Categories Electronics and Instrumentation at University of Kalyani
Course Fee 48,000
Placement Percentage 50%
Highest CTC 10 LPA
Average CTC 6 LPA
Recruiting Companies TCS, Infosys and Wipro
Hence, except for the placement cell and its infrastructure, Kalyani University is a good institution and will train you to make you capable enough of securing a decent job with a good package.

Should one go for EIE at RV college of engineering?

SS
Satyam Singh Posted On : April 29th, 2021
BE Chemical Engineering, B. M. Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering (2021)

The short answer is Yes. If EIE is your interest and you want to build your career here then there is no reason to stop. My brother is an alumnus from RV College of Engineering, and here’s why you must definitely go for it.

  • If you are good at academics and really into your subject, you will get good placements.
  • For the 2019-20 batch, the department observed 84.09% placements. A total of 37 students got placed among 44 students.
  • The college has a good reputation and history hence, good companies visit there for placements.
  • Any branch will get you a good placement especially CSE and IT. No doubt it’s the same scenario in every institute.

The table below shows the placement statistics of EIE at RVCE:

Highest Salary

INR 13 LPA

Average Salary

INR 6.25 LPA

Minimum Salary

INR 3.6 LPA

Placement Percentage

INR 84.09%

All in all, if you give your 100% in any branch, you are most likely to get placed. Though the intake of EIE is quite low, all matters are your interest. In most cases, if you have a good rank in entrance exams then you can get EEE in BMSCE or MSRIT with the same rank. However, if your interest lies only in EIE, then don’t give it a second thought.
