How is it to do an MBA at NIT Calicut? What are the placement opportunities?

RB
Ramesh Banerjee Posted On : March 26th, 2021
MBA Finance & Marketing, National Institute of Technology, Calicut (2019)

The thing is that a degree in MBA has a huge opportunity to do anything individually, rather than the institution. SOMS NITC provides immense opportunities to the students.

The syllabus may be quite similar to the other institutes, but this institute has an exceptional teaching staff quality. Additionally, the teachers mainly come from NITC, in the case of some specific subjects, which enhances the course's ultimate value.

Besides, the infrastructure facilities of this institute are just impressive. Moreover, it is considered the best among the whole NITC. Placement statistics are also outstanding as many students from this institute get placed, although they do not get much higher packages.

The following table shows the placement statistics of the institute:

Placement Percentage

58.06%

Number of Students Placed

18

Highest Package

10.20 LPA

Average Package

6.88 LPA

The infrastructure is splendid and is considered to be the best among the entire NITC. Most of the students get placed, though the packages offered are not quite high. The students of this institute have developed several committees and forums so that the placement statistics can be enhanced and internship opportunities and public relations can be taken care of.

I would say that an MBA has to do more with you than the college. If you work hard and groom yourself according to industry standards, any college is good enough for you.

Is it worth to join an MBA at JBIMS at the age of 28 having lot of academic gaps and no any work experience?

MJ
Manish Jain Posted On : February 20th, 2023
Studied Finance at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies

Joining JBIMS for MBA without any work experience may have a slight drawback. Whether the overall experience will be worth it or not, depends on the exact purpose with which you have started on this journey.

With all honesty, your lack of experience and academic gaps will have a negative impact on your placements. Getting higher packages will be almost impossible as companies might object to your flaw in the profile. I am not saying that MBA will be a bad choice, but it will benefit you academically and not financially. It will increase your knowledge and skills and add value to your CV thereby improving your initial situation. But as far as placements are concerned, you will be slightly at a disadvantage to others.

You will be eligible for the final placements only and not the lateral ones. Many companies may or may not put filters on age, work experience, and academics. It all depends on the particular company and your luck. With excellent communication skills and content building, you can make your way into the interview and much more. But you have to strive hard for a very long time as the race is a difficult one for you. If you can prepare well with no pressure or expectations, especially during the summer internship process, you should be fine.

Coming to the knowledge and skills that you will acquire during the MBA, it will certainly have a positive impact on you. You will be able to get rid of negativity and focus on acquiring maximum knowledge.

Still, at the end of the day, I will advise you to get a job and get a level of experience to make your journey a bit easier.

Is it worth it to study for an MBA in tier 3 colleges like TAPMI, BIM, or K J Somaiya?

KD
Krishna Dubey Posted On : January 6th, 2023
MBA from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR) (Graduated 2019)

TAPMI and KJ Somaiya are tier 2 colleges. The primary reasons why KJ Somaniya is superior are listed below.

Location - Because KJ SIMSR is located in India's financial capital, companies can easily come in for recruitment. Because most companies have their headquarters in Mumbai, various CXOs can come in for informative guest lectures. You will also have access to a number of live projects to work on.

ROI - Fees are lower when compared to TAPMI.

Faculty - The majority of the faculty members have a Ph.D. or are pursuing one, which helps shape your knowledge.

Infrastructure includes a 60-acre campus with an Olympic-size running track, an open chess board, multiple auditoriums, AC classrooms, an amphitheater, multiple libraries, and other amenities.

In terms of rankings, it all comes down to perception and the methodologies used by various evaluating agencies, so a TIER 1 in one ranking may be a TIER 3 in another.

During KJ Somaiya Institute of Management MBA placements 2022, the highest and average packages offered were INR 26.50 LPA and INR 10.97 LPA, respectively. Furthermore, during KJ Somaiya Institute of Management MBA placements in 2022, the placement rate was 99%. In addition, the highest and average packages offered during KJ Somaiya Institute of Management MCA placements 2022 were INR 11.50 LPA and INR 5.67 LPA, respectively. During the MCA placements at KJ Somaiya Institute of Management in 2022, the placement rate was 98%.
