How is life in and around for a student in IIM Bangalore?

AM
Ankit Malik Posted On : December 21st, 2022
Studied at Indian Institute of Management, Udaipur

A student's life in IIM Bangalore is a blend of stress and fun. The first 2 semesters are quite tough since the curriculum here is very extensive. But you don’t have to give up on this pressure and by 3rd term, you will see yourself adapting to it. Also, the initial terms are when you make the best friends of your life. Your company will define how the following two years will shape you into a new person.

To maintain rigor the institute organized frequent quizzes and group projects. You are required to multitask and also prioritize your tasks. This will continue for 5-6 courses. You will get enough relaxation through fests, and breaks during summer and final placements.

Ultimately what will matter for an IIM Bangalore student is their final grade and what memories they created within the campus in 2 years.

studied Bachelor of Law at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (2018)

There are a few interesting options to explore at the weekends in Vadodara. If you stay in MSU hostel and do not have any vehicle to commute then you can check on the following things:

  • Visit to Kalabhavan, which is located nearby. Various cultural fests are organized here.
  • Sayaji Baug is another option, if you love nature. You can also ride the joy train.
  • Bandstand in Sayaji Baug has various Rock Bands perform live every alternate Sundays.
  • If you are interested in watching a movie, Inox seven seas is nearby.

If commuting is not an issue then you can explore some outskirts of Vadodara like - Sindhrot, Zarwani waterfall in Shoolpaneshwar, Jambughoda wildlife sanctuary, S-cube waterpark, Hathni waterfall (in monsoons), Kabirvad and Champaner.

If you are fond of historical sites and spiritual places then you can visit - The Lakshmi Vilas Palace, The Nazarbaug Palace, Qutbuddin Tomb, Tambekar Wada, Makarpura palace, Kirti Mandir and many more.

Is there any ragging in Gautam Buddha University?

RG
Rishi Goel Posted On : December 23rd, 2021
B.Tech+M.Tech Computer Science, Gautam Buddha University (2022)

No, ragging is strictly prohibited in Gautam Buddha University (GBU). You do not have to worry about ragging at all. The seniors are extremely cooperative and helpful. They offer a very welcoming vibe.

If you need opportunities to express your talent, the seniors in your department will absolutely help you with it. They made sure that you receive proper guidance to polish your public speaking skills. Opportunities also came in the form of debate competitions, group discussions and anchoring in various events. They encourage you to take part in them.

The anti-ragging atmosphere of this University is something which sets it apart from the other institutions of this region.

Classrooms

The classroom facilities at IIM Visakhapatnam are no joke and even IIM Bangalore professors were impressed by the classroom infrastructure. The classrooms are horse-shoe shaped elevated at every step to facilitate better professor and student contact.

Library

For book lovers, IIM Vishakhapatnam’s library is heaven. The vast library with 24-hour accessibility makes it one of the best. The librarian is very polite and is always on the hunt of bringing the best reads to the library. She even meets the professors and asks for their recommendations for the same. The library also has around 25 different subscriptions. Some of them include The Economist, EPW, Harvard Business Review, and MIT Sloan management.

Faculty

Most of the faculty is from the top B school IIM Bangalore and speaks of credibility. They are learned, experienced and passionate about teaching.

Crowd

Your batchmates will be people from various backgrounds, professions, and cultures. This ensures an all-round learning experience.

So people choose IIM Visakhapatnam over other IIMs because of such facilities and the best opportunities it has to offer.

What is the USP of IIM Bangalore?

VS
Varun Sharma Posted On : December 21st, 2022
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Raipur (Graduated 2019)

IIM Bangalore has many, not one USPs. Here are some that caught my attention the most.

Location: Unlike other IIMs located on the outskirts of cities, IIM Bangalore enjoys situated at the heart of the city. Students need not travel far for shopping or other fun activities.

Sports center: IIM Bangalore is heaven for sports freaks. Its vast infrastructure comprises a sports center where badminton, squash, pool, table tennis, cricket, volleyball, and basketball are played.

Swimming pool: IIM Bangalore is the first and only IIM to have swimming pool facilities.

Surreal campus: IIM Bangalore has a lush green campus with paved roads around ideal for late-night walks. The temperature here is moderate due to the excess greenery.

NSRCEL: This is the most eye-catching feature of IIM Bangalore. NSRCEL is an entrepreneurship cell that promotes the startup ideas of aspiring entrepreneurs. It even holds Launchpad programs that give vast knowledge about the startup world. NSRCEL has incubated many well-known startups.

All these amazing features are the USPS of IIM Bangalore.

How do I reach IIM-Shillong?

JD
Jakil Dedhiya Posted On : January 16th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Shillong (2019)

The only means of transport to reach IIM Shillong is a cab. You can book it privately or go for a shared one as well depending on your budget. The duration of the journey is around 3-4 hours on any typical day. There are two routes to reach IIM Shillong

  1. Take a shared cab from Airport/Railway station and take a stop at Police Bazar. From there you can take another cab to IIM Shillong which is around 15 mins away.
  2. You can directly hail a private cab from Guwahati Airport or Guwahati Railway station to IIM Shillong. This option is suitable for those who are traveling to the college for the first time. The fair amounts to something around 2k and can be shared by people accompanying you.

Once you are familiar with the traffic and routes, you can look for other options as well.

How is Ambedkar University Delhi?

SB
Sayantika Bose Posted On : January 13th, 2022
M.A. Environment and Development Studies, Ambedkar University Delhi (2019)

Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) is considered to be one of the liberal universities in the country. The courses offered are engaging and the faculty members give you full support in learning and preparing for them.

At AUD imparting knowledge among the students towards social science is really unique and different. It is totally a different university with lots of opportunities to learn and grow as a student and a human being.

It has multiple campuses, most of them having good infrastructure and facilities. The best part of the university is the faculty members. Most of them are very understanding and are very helpful.

Considering academics, the university has given the choice on the course instructors to choose the evaluation methodology. Hence, the creative faculty members end up creating something dynamic which is going to help you learn and grow holistically.

Students graduating from AUD are more analytical, a bit critical, have better writing and presentation skills and improved interpersonal skills. The best part is the liberal atmosphere.

What is the student life in Vasavi College of Engineering?

NR
Nandini Roy Posted On : August 24th, 2021
B.E from Vasavi College of Engineering (2020)

I can answer the question since I have a few friends from Vasavi College of Engineering.

Vasavi college of engineering has a great placement record that attracts students. However, the real scenario at the institute is a little different. The academic environment is very poor and the students who are from non-IT branches are also forced to study IT subjects because in the end they are also being placed into an IT company.

Before getting attracted to the placement records, look out for the companies in which the students are being offered jobs. The work-life after getting placed is very hectic.
