Thapar University is better than Manipal Jaipur. It is an old technological institute with a better industry presence. The learning resources and facilities offered by the institute are great. If you are getting your desired branch at Thapar, you should definitely choose it. Thapar University placements 2022 report shows the average CTC offered to the students is around INR 10.97 LPA. The highest CTC offered was INR 40 LPA.
As some of my friends studied at Thapar University, I am very well aware about the college and it’s mess facilities. Here’s sharing some things about the menu I got to know from my friends.
On Mondays:
Tuesday:
Wednesday:
Thursday:
Friday, Saturday and Sunday; you'd find that the breakfast would consist of a type of paratha again with availability of Daliya, poha or pasta at times. On Sunday, Amritsari naan is available at times for lunch and in dinner you might get an ice-cream, a chocolate or a gulab Jamun with the combination of Aloo-puri or paneer bhurji or palak-corn.
Based on what I heard from my friends at the institute I will say life in the first year at Thapar University is great.
Boys have hostel B, C, FRC, and H. If you are in hostel B or C you are gonna have a wonderful time throughout.
When it was my friend’s first year they used to roam on the campus. They used to put off studies for the reading week which is the week before exams for preparation. There are also many extracurricular activities in which you can take part during your first year.
Winters are extremely chilling with lots of fog so if you are from a place where there is no fog you will love it.
Apart from missing your home and the food of the mess, you will surely enjoy your first year.
Thapar University placements are good for Chemical Engineering. Around80% of the students get placed from the branch each year. The average CTC for the branch is INR 7 LPA. While the highest CTC is around INR 15 LPA. Other than core job profiles, students are offered consultancy profiles as well. Reliance, HPCL, Asian Paints, etc. are some of the major recruiters to visit Thapar.
After IIT Hyderabad and BITS, Thapar University is the third-best private college, while the other two are unsuitable for engineering.
If you have the option, choose a branch in Thapar over SNU.
Thapar University is one of India's most prominent and best engineering institutes, ranked second only to Bits Pilani in terms of private institutes. In the NIRF rankings, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is holding 20th position.
Thapar is superior in every way, including crowds, brand, studies, research, placements, and campus environment, etc.
Having a few friends from both institutes I might be able to share some facts about both the institutes. Chemical Engineering at UICET is better than Chemical at Thapar University or CSE at CCET.
Categories | Chemical Engineering at UICET | Chemical Engineering at Thapar University | CSE at CCET Chandigarh |

As you already know Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology is a reputed institution and even older than IITs. It has built trust with its quality education and curriculum as per the industry needs. And it's very obvious when students do well, recruiters visit the campus very often.
If you are planning to pursue a degree from Thapar Institute you need to worry about placement. If you do your bit, Thapar Institute and placement cell will support you for sure. The placement cell has placed many of its alumni who are working at good salary packages in good and well-known companies like Deloitte, Infosys, IBM, J.P. Morgan, Maruti Suzuki, etc, .
My sister is a student at Thapar University and here are some of the things that she complains about.
Overall, Thapar University is a decent college but certainly needs to improve a few things.
Unwillingly yes, students go to Thapar University after dropping a year. A few of my friends are pursuing engineering from Thapar University. Here are some things that I got to know:
Not all droppers are unsuccessful in their second attempt, many improve by working hard and having full determination.
According to one of my friends, who is an alumnus of Thapar University, the integrated program involving BE and MBA is mostly preferred by the students nowadays over many other branches like civil, chemical, mechanical, and many others. At the same time, computer science or electronics plus MBA is a good option to take your career ahead as you may be well aware of the popularity of the computer science branch at Thapar University. Also, there is a benefit of not giving competitive exams such as CAT or GMAT.
The students who remain in the turmoil of giving entrance exams and don't want to write the national level exams or are afraid of not getting LM Thapar according to the marks scored in entrance exams, mostly prefer this course.
Since the course is newly introduced by the university, it will take time to settle and as soon as the stream settles down, automatically the cut-off will go high.
As for why this course has low priority among students, it’s just a mindset problem and has nothing to do with the course or university.
