Which is better: CS from KIIT or mechanical from Thapar University?

SF
Sahil Farsaiya Posted On : August 6th, 2021
Studied at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology

Having known some people studying in both these institutions, I can say that KIIT is promising and is getting better every year. Thapar is a well-known and much older institute. You can choose either by preferring the college or the branch.

  • If you are interested in studying mechanical engineering then go to Thapar. It has good placements for Mechanical. The faculty department is also decent.
  • If you are more inclined towards coding go for CSE from KIIT. It is a more practical-oriented subject.
  • If the interests do not lie in either and you just want a B.Tech degree and want to pursue higher studies or MBA, then go for CSE as that is the easiest among all the others.
  • It will be more practical-based learning, more industry-oriented and it has the best scope after graduation.
Categories CS from KIIT Mechanical at Thapar
Course Fee 12.91 lakhs 13.23 lakhs
Highest CTC 30 LPA 19 LPA
Average CTC 12-16 LPA 11 LPA
Recruiting Companies Wipro, Infosys, Dell, Deloitte, etc. Tech Mahindra, TCS, JP Morgan, Cisco, etc.

So you should decide your field of interest and what type of job or higher studies you would like to do and then opt for the branch that fits best for you.

Which is the better college between BVM and LD for mechanical engineering?

BG
Bishnupriya Ghosh Posted On : July 7th, 2021
BE from Electrical Engineering in Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya Engineering College (2019)

One of my close friends graduated from BVM and my sister was in LD. Based on their reviews BVM is a way better option for mechanical engineers compared to LD Engineering College. The reason behind this is, it is one of the oldest colleges in Gujarat. Some more significant points which will make you drift towards BVM includes:

  • The faculty members in BVM are highly educated and cooperative.
  • The lab facilities at BVM are great. Much better than LD.
  • VV Nagar is the educational hub of Gujarat, hence it is the best place to focus on your studies.

Here are some details about the two colleges which might help you to make a precise decision:

Particulars Mechanical at BVM Mechanical at LD Engineering College
Fees (Total) 5.24 lakh 6,000
Highest Package Offered 12 LPA 8 LPA
Average Package Offered 3.1 LPA 4.5 LPA
Top Recruiters Infosys, Essar, TCS, L&T, etc. Harvey Associates, MG motors, Welspun, Reliance, etc.

Both the colleges are great, but It is suggested you go for BVM among the two. Because a good environment is necessary to concentrate on studies.

Should I choose IIIT Guwahati for a CSE or BITS Pilani Goa campus for mechanical? I want to go for higher studies after my bachelors degree.

SD
Swathilekha Das Posted On : July 5th, 2021
Studied at NIT Trichy (2019)

Having friends in both IIIT Guwahati and BITS Pilani, I can say that colleges are well recognized in India and abroad.

CSE and Mechanical are completely different from each other. CSE definitely has more advantages over Mechanical. It’s worth mentioning that CSE growth has been on a positive incline and will remain so. There is much more demand for CSE than that of Mechanical in today’s world.

Now coming to the second option giving the institute a preference then BITS Pilani is way too ahead of IIIT Guwahati. BITS Pilani has better international outreach than any IIIT so it will be really helpful if you have decided to study abroad for your higher studies.

The Mechanical branch of BITS Pilani is good for research and for higher studies too. So if you do not want to go into the corporate sector, Mechanical at BITS Pilani will be perfect for you.

Which is the better branch, mechanical or E& TC at IET DAVV?

AJ
Ankita Jain Posted On : July 13th, 2021
B.E. Information Technology, Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV (2019)

Opt for any of these branches only if you are really interested in either of these branches or if you have plans of pursuing post-graduation in either of the subjects.

The reason behind this lies in whether you will be treating your technical graduation degree just as a simple graduation degree or are you really looking for it. If it is just going to be a simple graduation degree just like in campus placements, government job preparations, MBA entrance preparations, GRE preparations, etc., then it is not worth going for, because there is too much work in these branches.

If this is the case, choose any of the branches from CSE, IT, EI, and Civil Engineering. It will help you in saving a lot of time and hence, prepare well for entrances. Also, you can fully enjoy your college life.

One of my relatives pursued his graduation from the Coimbatore Institute of Technology. As per his experience, Mechanical Engineering will be a good option at CIT. Here are the following reasons why you should choose the Coimbatore Institute of Technology over PSG College of Technology.

Faculty

  • The faculty of Coimbatore Institute of Technology is friendly, professional, and skilled.
  • Many of its professors work in organizations like DRDO.

Infrastructure

  • PSG College of Technology provides better infrastructure than Coimbatore, but there are many facilities available in CIT as well.
  • Coimbatore Institute of Technology provides good lab equipment and arrange workshops for engineering students. Workshops are very important to gain ample opportunity, which will boost your career.

Campus Life:

  • The campus life of CIT is better. It provides a friendly environment for students.
  • However, the hostel and its food quality are low, but you will get used to it.

Placement

  • The placement cell of Coimbatore Institute of Technology is good. Companies such as L&T, Nissan, Renault, Hyundai, Godrej, Robert Bosch, and many more come for campus placement.

If you are certain about your branch choice, then go for Civil at IIT Kanpur. If you aren’t sure about the branch then choosing IIT Kanpur among these three IITs will be better. In 2021, NIRF ranked IIT Kanpur #6 in the country. Although it’s not easy you can change your branch after a year. But you can’t change your college.
