What is your review of VSSUT Burla for EE?

Sapna Malik updated Posted On : October 12th, 2023

Here is a detailed review of the Electrical Engineering Department of VSSUT Burla based on my friend experience who is an alumnus of the same

  • VSSUT is among the top colleges in the state and Electrical Engineering is one of the best branches.
  • The branch offers a tremendous learning scope with decent lab facilities.
  • The branch has a decent number of permanent faculty.
  • VSSUT placement scenario however is not that good although it’s better compared to other top colleges in the state.
  • The M.Tech students are asked to supervise labs which isn’t a good practice because they are mostly fresh out of engineering colleges and lack expectations

Electrical Engineering from VSSUT is a good choice if you are interested in the field and are willing to invest extra effort in your studies.

Which university has a better EE course: IIT Mandi, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Patna, or ISM Dhanbad?

sumit rawat Posted On : May 24th, 2023

My knowledge is limited to IIT Patna as my brother was a student of the same and thus my answer talks about that particular institute only. Firstly, judging an IIT on the basis of its location is not logical. What matters is the job opportunities and facilities it has to offer. In that sense, IIT Patna will definitely serve you well.

IIT Patna offers one of the best UG EE Courses. For an undergraduate student, EE is one of the most challenging branches. But the plethora of opportunities it has to offer makes it a more lucrative branch too. IIT Patna EE branch includes courses from both Electrical and Electronics leaving you to decide on which field to pursue.

If you are inclined to CS and coding stuff, you can do it despite being in the EE department. IIT Patna has one of the best coders, a senior of the EE Branch who cleared Google Code Jam and was also part of this year’s ACM-ICPC Team which qualified for World Finals and Secured 56 Rank. Another senior cleared GSoC which is quite an achievement.

If you are a research enthusiast and want to go for a Master's, then IIT Patna is the best place. Its highly supportive professors help you in every way. The seniors are helpful and guide you in making the wisest decisions.

It’s best to talk to the students of all the institutes you mentioned and then decide.

Can I get EEE or ECE at MAIT? I got 67 percentile (Delhi Region)?

AC
Anindita Chakraborty Posted On : June 23rd, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi (2019)

Yes, with this percentile you will be able to get EEE or ECE at MAIT. You should be really interested in building your career in EEE or ECE as both of them are very different from each other and you will get to explore different career opportunities in both these fields. You should do in-depth research about both these branches and then make a final decision.

  • To get admission, you need to fill-up the form after qualifying your JEE mains, where you have to fill the choice of branch and college at each round and then wait till the end of each round.
  • There are no reserved seats or quota available and students get admission through spot rounds.
  • And if you don't get EEE or ECE, there is also an option for branch upgradation in the first semester, but for this, you need to score more than 80% marks in your semester-end exams.

Hence, you will be able to get a seat in EEE or ECE at MAIT, but need to wait till the last round of counseling, as there are no reserved seats or quota available for these branches.

I'm getting an EEE in MAIT and an ECE in MSIT in IPU. What should I take?

SY

B.Tech I.T from Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (2021)

Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology has been positioned under the rank band of 151-200 among 906 top engineering institutions across the country which also includes all IITs/IIITs/NITs. So, pursuing EEE at MAIT is a good option.

With a fine blend of experienced as well as young and dynamic personalities as faculty, the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering is involved in providing quality education at the Undergraduate (UG) level in MSIT.

Admissions:

  • MAIT conducts a common entrance test (CET) to make the B.Tech programme selection in EEE and any other branch. The candidates are selected according to the CET performance along with the marks that they obtain in JEE.

  • The admissions in ECE at MSIT will only be based on the student's merit at JEE Mains Paper. By applying for an IPU CET Exam, B.Sc graduates may receive the lateral entry into B.Tech programmes.

  • The total fees in MAIT for EEE for a span of 4 years is 4.47 lakhs. The total fees per year in MSIT for IPU is ‎1.35 lakhs.

Placements:

MAIT:

Maharaja Agrasen Technology Institute has a separate training and positioning cell. Though Very less core placement is there for EEE. But they still get a chance to sit in the company of coding and consultancies and get the chance to be placed.

  • Some of the companies that visit MAIT are Accenture, ZS Associates, LIBSYS, Wipro, Infosys, Nagarro, Sapient, TCS, Deloitte, Hughes Systique, HSBC, Cognizant, Tata Power DDL, Amazon, etc.

  • The average CTC offered to the students is 3.5 lakhs.

MSIT:

  • 80-90% of students got placed from ECE at MSIT in the 2020 placement even with the COVID-19 situation.

  • The average package is 3-4 LPA, the highest is 8 LPA and the lowest is 3 LPA.

  • The major recruiters are Infosys, TCS, Wingify, Accenture and Comviva Mahindra.

Both the colleges are good in their respective courses, it depends on the applicant’s choice which college and branch to take admission into.

Where is branch upgradation from EE to CS easier, IIT Mandi or IIT Jodhpur?

SN
Sagar Namdev Posted On : May 24th, 2023

Branch change from EE to CSE is easiest at IIT Jodhpur. Here, students who have scored a 9+ CGPA can change their branch as there are no additional criteria. If you are talking about an easier branch change from EE to CSE, it would definitely be IIT Jodhpur, as here there is a rule that if you score a CGPA of 9+ then you can change your branch to any branch of your choice.

When my friend was a student at IIT Mandi a few years ago, she told me that 10 students from the EE branch changed their branch to CSE and a total of about 18 students from other branches changed their branch to CSE, and about 10 students from different branches to EE. Surprisingly enough, the last student to change his branch to CSE had a CGPA of 8.67.

Thus, branch upgradation is easier at IIT Jodhpur than at IIT Mandi.

  • Current placement rate of the telecommunication branch is 76%.
  • Core companies visiting campus are very few which includes Aircel, Dell India, Motorola, Honeywell, LG Electronics. Thus most of the students from the telecommunication branch land up in IT sectors.

Aspirants must decide which college is best for them as per their passion towards the subjects. Comparatively, the telecommunication branch has less opportunities in RVCE or anywhere in India in general. It must be noted that if you aim for higher studies by clearing GATE, EEE has an upper hand as there is no paper for telecommunication thus aspirants must attend ECE paper.
