IBS Hyderabad or IMT Hyderabad, which is better?

SD
Subhasmita Desh Posted On : April 30th, 2022
lives in Hyderabad, Telangana, India

IBS Hyderabad will be better than IMT Hyderabad. It teaches Harvard cases in the 3rd and 4th semesters. The course work includes more than 1000 case studies. Many of the professors in this institute are internationally acclaimed.

IBS Hyderabad placement records have been pretty good over the recent years. During 2022 placement drive, the average CTC offered was INR 8.55 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 53.45 LPA (International).

However, IBS Hyderabad has a huge batch size. Due to the large batch size, all the students don’t get groomed and placed well.

Will dropping two years for the JEE and getting in NIT Jamshedpur (CSE) affect my placements?

AK

The majority of the companies will not pay attention to your gap years; instead, they will look at your abilities, strengths, and potential. Placements are more about what and how you fare in the four years of your engineering rather than what you did before that.

  • Some of the primary things that most of the top companies lookout for are communication, skills, potential, knowledge of your subject, technical know-how, and your approach towards the work. You should start paying attention and working towards all these factors.
  • You should try to focus and work on the things which are in your control rather than worrying about things that are not in your control.
  • If you have exceptional skills, prove your potential and passion to the recruiter, have the capacity to stay focused under all types of situations.
  • If you feel you are lacking in any particular area, you will have ample time to work on that prior to your recruitment process.

Make the best of this time available to you, take help and guidance from your mentors, speak to your seniors and learn from their experience and there should be no stopping you.

Is the NIT Warangal mess that bad?

TG
Tiyasa Ghosh Posted On : May 7th, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Warangal (2019)

My sister is a former NIT Warangal student. At the time of her admission, we ate at the mess at the college. Here comes the real thing about the messes. There are two kinds of mess facilities at NIT Warangal: Government mess and Private mess.

There are 3 private messes at NIT Warangal naming: IFC-A, IFC-B, IFC-C.

  • First-year students are allotted IFC-A mess. Food is eatable and hygienic there.
  • For the first few weeks, the quality of food will be top-notch. However, the quality of food will deteriorate over time especially at dinner time.
  • The other 2 messes are satisfactory, not much to say, the food is bearable but cannot match homemade food in terms of taste and quality.
  • The Government messes are better compared to IFC messes. There are 3 government messes available among which the 2nd mess is the best both in terms of food taste and quality.
  • Most students at NIT Warangal prefer the 2nd mess over the other 2 messes. The 1st and 2nd mess has non-vegetarian food available, the 3rd mess is a pure vegetarian mess.

Overall the mess in NIT Warangal is far better compared to other NIT's.

Is NIT Agartala safe for a non-Northeastern student?

A
Admin Posted On : September 18th, 2023

One of my friends was in a similar dilemma when he got both NIT Silchar and NIT Agartala. Since both the colleges are located in the North-East, many relatives and adults advised him to look for another institute. He decided to contact a senior and after a healthy discussion with a 4th year senior at NT Agartala, he decided to join the college.

Most of his batchmates are from Bihar and UP. A few are from Bhopal and Kolkata too. Around 30 to 50 students in every branch are from the South. The locals are very friendly and outgoing.

Today, he feels proud to be a part of North-Eastern College despite being from UP. He got the opportunity to experience diverse cultures and traditions. Moreover, the place is the perfect getaway from the scorching summer heat. The infrastructure is infused with natural beauty and makes the ambiance serene.

Overall, Agartala is a very peaceful place and has a huge non-North-Eastern intake so your security isn’t a big concern here.

IIIT Hyderabad is the better option to secure your career. Here, the main attraction in CLD is the LTRC laboratory. You can also publish your papers at top conferences. IIT Hyderabad increases your chances of earning your MS and Ph.D. abroad, and CLD branch students have ample job opportunities. Last but not least, IITs are the best option for your overall development as they encourage students in both academics and extra-curricular activities.

Is civil engineering in NIT Trichy a good choice?

SR
Soumili Roy Posted On : August 30th, 2021
Studies Computer Science Engineering at NIT Durgapur (2020)

If NIT Trichy is your only option, then you can go for it. But for Civil Engineering infrastructure can be a vital factor.

The budget that usually is allocated for infrastructure incorporates buying lands from peasants to fund the research later on with a low-cost housing or environmental impact assessment.

If you have chosen Civil Engineering, based on your electives, you could opt to specialize in Hydraulics engineering, Structural engineering, Environmental engineering, Building materials, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Management, Infrastructural engineering, and other relevant disciplines.

It is best to get familiar with the topics briefly noted above. Based on your knowledge and expertise, choose one (or more, if required) of the many specializations and then do a brief research on the basic amenities, like faculty strength and similar aspects of NIT Trichy.

However, in terms of academics, NIT Trichy is an excellent choice.

Getting into BITS Goa has several different ways including by air, train, bus, and other options.

  1. Via Air: You need to reach the nearby airport i.e. Dabolim airport. From there, you can book a cab for BITS Goa. Another option is to get on a local bus heading towards Birla/Madgaon/Titan.

I went to IIM-Rohtak's website, entered my details. It said I was shortlisted. Does that mean I have been shortlisted for all IIM's in CAP or just Rohtak?

AS
Anuj Srivastav Posted On : August 2nd, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (2019)

I have a few friends from IIM Rohtak and they were able to help resolve this confusion. According to them, it means you are shortlisted for only IIM Rohtak. All the IIMs will call you separately if they shortlist you. Though you need to appear for the CAP if you get shortlisted in only one of the nine newly formed IIMs. For more detailed information, you should check the official website of the institute.

Also, keep yourself updated by visiting the websites regularly so that you would not miss out on the deadlines for the forms and other related information.

What is the scope after doing Quality, Reliability and Operations Research [M. Tech. (QROR)] from ISI Kolkata?

SH
Sreeparna Hazra Posted On : September 21st, 2021
Studied at Indian Statistical Institute (2017)

Well, I would if you are worried about job prospects and all stuff although being in ISI Kolkata then shed off your worry. Trust me; you will get a job with an average CTC matching with top B-Schools in India. Job roles such as Business Analyst/Data Scientist and many others will be offered to you.

Now let me help you more in understanding this. Let’s break this into two parts – Job vs. Higher Studies.

  • Pursuing Ph.D./Higher Studies is a tough deal if you're applying abroad.
  • My personal perspective, in this case, will be, go for a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering domain.
  • That's the best option, as it will be aligned with QROR.
  • Now, you should definitely rethink before applying for the courses like Data Science/ Machine Learning domain, or Statistics.
  • For this, I would suggest you consider doing some projects. And if you are at the Indian Statistical Institute you will get a plethora of opportunities.

So first and foremost, just be crystal clear with your future endeavors before joining any course. Once you decide, opt for the best but don’t rush. Just give your best thought and calculate all the pros and cons.
