How do I get a package of 30 lakhs in the field of marketing, post MBA from IIMA/B/C, FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, and IIFT?

SS

While many may shed their philosophies on how getting a high package should not be your ultimate goal and stuff, I am here with a different opinion. When you are investing a huge amount of money it is only right to expect a greater monetary benefit and a better lifestyle. So I have mentioned some techniques that will help you land a package of 30 LPA specifically in the field of marketing post-MBA from IIM ABC, FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, and IIFT.

  • The first thing you need to do is lower your expectations as no marketing placements offer a package higher than 25 LPA. These highest offers are made by top firms like Reckitt Benckiser, HUL, P&G, and Asian Paints.
  • You need to figure out what you really are after, a good marketing role or a high-paying job. If you are after the latter I suggest you go for big consulting firms like Mc Kinsey, BCG, or investment banks that offer 30+ LPA.
  • But if it is the marketing role you are after, then make sure your resume reflects your marketing enthusiasm. This will further increase your chances of selection.
  • Performing well in the competitions conducted by your desired company is another way to get a high-paying job.
  • If the Final Placements are your last resort then make sure you have a stable and excellent CGPA. Many companies consider this factor while shortlisting.

These points will help you get your dream job but cannot necessarily guarantee it. It all ultimately depends on your efforts and obviously your luck.

Why do students go for CAT, XAT, SNAP etc when almost all the B-Schools in India accept GMAT scores for the full time MBA?

NM
Nia Malhotra Posted On : May 17th, 2021
Studied Master of Business Administration at IMT Ghaziabad (2019)

There is hardly any B-school in India that accepts GMAT scores for full-time MBA. IIMs, FMS, XLRI, JBIMS, IIFT, MDI, etc. are some of the institutions that accept GMAT scores.

However, students applying through a foreign national quota or NRI quota are eligible for GMAT score. ISB on the other hand accepts the GMAT for its full-time program MBA program.

Here is the list of some B-Schools that accepts GMAT scores in India

  • XLRI, Jamshedpur
  • XIM, Bhubaneswar
  • VIT Business School
  • TISS, Mumbai
  • TERI School of Advanced Sciences, TERI University
  • TASMAC, Pune
  • TAPMI, Manipal
  • School of Management, Udaipur
  • School of Management, NMIMS, Mumbai
  • School of Management, International Institute of Management

This is why most students go for CAT, XAT, SNAP, and other management exams for admission in MBA. Only foreign nationals or students with NRI Quota can apply through GMAT.

How much does McKinsey pay in B-schools like IIM, XLRI, etc.?

KY
Keshav Yadav Posted On : May 27th, 2021
studied Master of Business Administration Degrees (2016)

If you are applying to MBBs, you can expect entry-level salaries to be anywhere in the range of 24 to 26 lakhs per annum. You can also expect a 10-15% bonus. Moreover, there is also an 8-10% increase almost every year in the pay scale.

If you are looking at variable payouts, you can also expect these to change over time. The bonuses are quantified mostly as a percentage of the annual fixed salary. Mind you, the fixed salary varies by country so the bonus as a percentage of this will also be in a similar range.

The following table shows the average bonus for various levels at MBBs:

Level/Role

Bonus Percentage

Analyst and Associate Level

10%

Senior Associate & Junior Consultant

17-22%

Consultant

25-30%

Project Leader

40%

Partner

70% (Fixed)

If you are fresher, there will be a limit but you can expect an average salary of 6-8 LPA. The interview standards at McKinsey are very high. Being the best in the consultancy industry, there is no bar on salary if you are the right candidate.

Which is better for distance MBA - IGNOU or Sikkim Manipal? I am a working professional with more than 2 years of experience.

AR
Aijaz Rather Posted On : November 2nd, 2022
BSc from Indira Gandhi National Open university (2022)

Both IGNOU and Sikkim Manipal University are good options for MBA. But considering the fact that you are a working professional, you need to keep some points in mind regarding both universities.

IGNOU-

  • Less fees structure as compared to Manipal University

  • Extensive study material

  • Haa branches worldwide

  • A large number of regional centres

  • Has a lot of value is the best open university in the world.

  • Does not facilitate online fee submission

  • Does not provide placements

Sikkim Manipal University-

  • It offers an app from which you can download your textbooks, assignments, and materials

  • Doubts can be cleared online from a registered student account.

  • They will give you up-to-date notifications regarding exams, imp dates, materials, and placements via mail

  • Any queries will be handled by the Sikkim University team quickly and professionally.

  • Online payment of fees is available

  • Offers placements for those who have completed their graduation.

  • All exams are online (theory and objective both)

  • Less descriptive study material

You can see the pros of Sikkim Manipal University are more than those of IGNOU. Being a working professional, Sikkim University offers you better features than IGNOU.

Is an MBA from JBIMS better than SP Jain from a placement point of view?

AS
Anubhuti Shekhar Posted On : February 28th, 2023
M.M.S. from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (Graduated 2014)

From the point of view of batch strength, JBIMS has a smaller batch size of 120 students, while SP Jain has a larger batch size of 300 students. The list of companies visiting both campuses is similar, but due to the smaller batch size at JBIMS, the options available per student are higher, resulting in better placement opportunities.

In terms of cost, JBIMS has a lower fee structure of approximately 1 lakh per year, while the fees at SP Jain can reach 10 lakhs per year when including all expenses. This results in a higher return on investment for JBIMS.

In terms of the quality of education, both colleges are equally good, but it is important not to only consider the quality of education when making a decision. Networking opportunities should also be taken into consideration, and JBIMS offers strong networking opportunities due to its strong alumni base.

In conclusion, both colleges offer great placement opportunities and it is up to personal preference and individual circumstances to determine the best option.

JBIMS saw a significant increase in average salary in 2022, rising over 20% to INR 27.63 LPA. The median CTC was INR 26.48 LPA, and the highest salary offered was INR 42 LPA. Consulting firms were a major presence during the placement drive, with companies such as Deloitte, EY, PwC, Accenture, Infosys, and KPMG among the top recruiters.

During the SPJIMR Placements 2022 Report, 75 recruiters visited the campus, with top companies including Accenture, Aditya Birla Capital, Amazon, and American Express. PGDM students received 123 PPOs/PPIs, with the highest salary offered at INR 53.16 LPA and an average salary of INR 32.06 LPA.

What is your experience of doing MBA at LIBA Loyola College in Chennai?

VA
Vishakha Advani Posted On : September 29th, 2021
Studied at Loyola Institute of Business Administration (2016)

One of my cousins graduated from Loyola. His experience at Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) is quite good. First of all, I will have to answer based on my current interactions with the faculty and some of the students.

  • My friend has been fairly active concerning the alumni meetings and has met most of the professors and quite a few students.
  • There is one marked difference between the time my friend studied there and now, that is the significant improvement in the facilities.
  • There is a proper hostel, the entire campus is wi-fi enabled and the auditorium and other facilities are pretty much as good as it gets.
  • The classes are like any other college.
  • There is a mix of full-time and guest faculty; they also do not follow any particular schedule when it comes to guest speakers.
  • Try not to compare it to an IIM. Though the standards are definitely above average and better.
  • There is still a vibe of a laid-back environment here when comparing them to a B school like XLRI.
Categories MBA at LIBA
Course Fee 1.68 lakh
Highest CTC 20 LPA
Average CTC 10-12 PA
Recruiting Companies CTS, Tech Mahindra, Byju’s, Accenture, etc.

Apart from software companies picking up people for their consulting teams - Cognizant, etc. The industry presence in Chennai is not the same as in Mumbai. Overall, it could be one of the good options among other average-performing colleges.

How is MNIT Jaipur for an MBA?

SG
Souvick Gupta Posted On : October 10th, 2023
MNIT Jaipur

Even though I am not an MBA student at MNIT Jaipur, I will try to answer your query.

I have completed three years as a B.Tech student at MNIT. Throughout this time, I never heard much about the MBA program of my college. If its placements were noticeable, we would have definitely heard about them. I have rarely come across MBA students on campus. Unlike MBA, the M.Tech and Phd. courses are well renowned.

MNIT is known for its engineering programs. So, I wouldn’t recommend this college for your management studies. Try to look for those colleges that are known for their management courses.

Is the placement scenario for sustainability management in XIMB good and worth the money spent on pursuing the course?

DJ
Diksha Jain Posted On : April 20th, 2021
Studied at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2017)

Standing away from the crowd, XIMB Bengaluru weaved sustainability management with MBA. XIMB Bhubaneswar is ranked sixth among the top 100 private B-Schools of India in the Education-World India Private B-Schools Ranking 2020-21.

The two-years, of course, has the following features:

  • The admission is on the basis of national-level management entrance exams (CAT/X-GMT/MAT/CMAT/XAT/GMAT).
  • There is an eight weeks summer internship program focused on People, Planet, and Profit.

Placements

The placements of MBA-SM are average in terms of package. The lucrative points of this branch are:

  • There is a steady upsurge in sustainability-related jobs as compared to functional-management jobs.
  • The Faculty of this branch has experience in various fields like law, organizational behavior, waste management, climate change, biodiversity development, and renewable energy.
  • There is an option for the student to switch jobs to the main functional field rather than continuing in the sustainability sector.
  • The fee of the course is 13.80 Lakhs while the average package offered is 7.5 LPA.

The sustainability sector is booming and one of the interesting sectors. Its scope is slowly emerging with the growing economy of the world.

What is the package offered to freshers in MBA from NMIMS Mumbai?

DC
Dheeraj Chabra Posted On : February 28th, 2023
MBA (Part Time) from SVKM's NMIMS (Graduated 2021)

My friend was an Engineering fresher student at NMIMS and was very satisfied with the placements of freshers at NMIMS.

Summer placements

During the summer placements freshers are most preferred by sales and marketing companies, especially FMCGs. Even big finance companies hire freshers. The students whether freshers or work experience are preferred on the basis of the individual requirements of the companies which keep changing. So the placement is proportionate and no distinction is made.

Final placements

The final placements take place in 2 stages. The lateral placements are for 24 months and then executive placements are for people having less than 2 years of experience.

Packages offered

During the summer placements, freshers are offered PPOs which are hefty packages. However, for Final Placements, companies do consider work experience and thus experienced ones tend to land better packages than freshers. But the entire scenario is quite unpredictable as I have seen freshers receive the highest package as well as the lowest package. Placements depend on your overall profile which includes your grades and your luck too!

How is Lucknow University particularly for MBA?

AT
Ajita Sharma Thukran Posted On : September 30th, 2021
Studies MBA (Business Analytics) at IIM Ahmedabad,2023

If you are trying to make an appearance in the corporate world, then stepping into a university with prospects as much as what Lucknow University has would not necessarily turn out good at the end of the day.

There is a broader reason why:

  • Choosing to pursue an intensive course like MBA might not be fruitful if you opt for a particularly obscure university.
  • The professors of the university can be highly qualified and professional in what they have done until now.
  • Lucknow University has not quite sntached the attention, when placements are considered.
  • The pedagogy of the faculty is undoubtedly exceptional, but the administration does not take responsibility for placement opportunities.

If you are particularly focusing on your academic credentials, besides your location tethered to Lucknow itself, then Lucknow University can be a good choice; but in no case otherwise.

It is best that you reach out to several faculty members of the institute closely attached to Lucknow University, for better guidance regarding your course structure.
