What is the difference between M.Tech (CSE) and M.Tech (AI) at IISc Bangalore?

Amanda Marie Jacob Posted On : July 14th, 2023

There are many points of difference between IISc MTech CSE and MTech AI. Some of them have been listed below

  • M.Tech CSE is the flagship M.Tech program from CSA whereas the M.Tech AI program is a new program that has been recently introduced by the EECS division.
  • There is a huge difference in the curriculum of both programs. Although both programs require 64 credits, the breakdown is different. For MTech CSE the department core requires a minimum of 24 credits comprising at least 8 credits each from Pool A, Pool B, and Pool C There is a project too. The remaining credits are for electives. The M.Tech AI course on the other hand has 19 credits from pool A subjects, 12 credits from pool B subjects, and 12 credits from electives. Additionally, there is a 21-credit project where one can work on interdisciplinary cutting-edge problems on AI.
  • M.Tech CSE admissions are done on the basis of GATE CS scores while the cut-off for M.Tech AI is decided by the applications from CS, EE, and ECE disciplines.

It's natural for a CSE B.Tech student who isn't certain of specializing in theory, systems, or AI, to go for an M.Tech (CSE). The curriculum is flexible and you can even choose electives or work on AI projects. But if you are certain o your inclination towards AI then M.Tech (AI) is an excellent choice.

Do a PG student get a hostel room in IIT Delhi campus?

SG
Sushmita Gupta Posted On : April 3rd, 2023
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

IIT Delhi has stopped providing on-campus hostel facilities to PG MTech students specially bound mainly due to the shortage of Hostel rooms inside the campus. Earlier they used to provide off-campus hostels that were in pathetic conditions. But starting from 2020, they have even stopped providing these off-campus hostels and students are expected to arrange for their accommodation.

The students have to go to the hostel inside the campus for mess food and have to roam around without any permanent on-campus residence. Moreover, so much distance between their off campus residence and the college wastes a lot of time and they can hardly spare time for doing additional things like studying for an entrance exam.

New hostels are being built to accommodate MTech students and hopefully, in the coming future you might see better hostel facilities for PG students.

Can you rate Kongu Engineering College with Sri Krishna College of Technology Kovaipudur?

NR
Nalini Ranjan, Posted On : November 2nd, 2021
studied at Kongu Engineering College, Tamil Nadu, India (2018)

Both the colleges are equally good. Though it can be compared on the basis of the following factors:

  • Location: Kongu College is in Erode and Krishna College is in Coimbatore. So, location matters a lot while choosing a college. In this case, the former is better.
  • Strength:  Krishna College has low student strength and fewer departments compared to Kongu College. During placement, you get fewer competitors.
  • Staff: Kongu College has better and experienced staff members than Krishna college. The staff of Krishna college though freshers are known to be very cooperative.
  • Lab Facilities: Kongu College offers better lab facilities compared to Krishna College.
  • College Fee: Krishna College is a bit costlier than Kongu. Krishna College doesn't have any scholarship scheme for toppers, unlike Kongu.
  • Hostel: In Krishna, you have to pay nearly 85,000 for a hostel. But In Kongu it is 55,000 to 60,000. But when quality and facilities are considered Krishna definitely wins.

Krishna is known for having good placements compared to Kongu. Also, the overall environment at Kongu College is very strict, whereas Krishna College shows leniency towards their students.

Is there a lot of pressure about academics and attendance at IIITM Gwalior?

SP
Smriti Pilani Posted On : July 23rd, 2021
B.Tech + M.Tech from Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior (2022)

No, your college life would be very balanced. There will be no amount of additional homework or assignment pressure that can burden you.

  • As far as the attendance factor is concerned, yes it is a rule by the MHRD, you ought to clear an attendance limit of 80%.
  • However, at IIITM Gwalior, the on-paper requirement would be 75%, but then it is not something that is taken seriously.
  • My friend, in two of his subjects, had an attendance range of 20-30%. Actually, it all boils down to the faculty and 50-60% of the attendance range is normal.
  • The faculty will absolutely be strict about a whole 75% attendance range but do not worry too much as even if you do not fulfill that sort of requirement, you are good.
  • In case you happen to be an obedient student, you can afford to skip a few classes and save a lot of time from them.

Do not make the mistake of comparing IIITs to IIITM. You would see students in the table tennis court, badminton court, squash court, cricket ground here. Huge fests are conducted at IIITM Gwalior where you would witness a lot of reputed singers like Jonitha Gandhi, Mohit Chauhan, etc. perform. Thus your college life will be exciting at IIITM Gwalior.

Can I take admission to Presidency University, Kolkata (through PUBDET) if I get admitted under Calcutta University in the first year?

SM
Sreemona Mondal Posted On : June 28th, 2021
Jogamaya Devi College, B.Sc Physics (2018)

You certainly can. If the registration process is completed by you already, make sure you take your TC and mark sheet from there. Your mark sheet should have an "admission canceled" stamp to it otherwise it would not be approved. You may also be required to write a letter sent to the authorities. It will cost you a sum of ?1000-1500 which would have to be deposited as a TC fee.

In case you have missed your registration, make sure you get in touch with the staff of the office. They will help you get your admission canceled.

Although this is a rare situation, in case you are lucky, they may give back your admission fee too.

How is night life of students in IIT Guwahati?

VS
Vir Solanki Posted On : August 17th, 2020
M.Tech Chemical Engineering & Materials Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (2019)

The nightlife of the students at IIT Guwahati varies depending on the students. At IIT Guwahati most of the classes and labs are completed by 5:30 pm, after which students can spend their time as they want. Many indulge in sports, drama, and theater to club activities, etc. There are different categories of undergraduates and postgraduate students and the nightlife varies accordingly.

A lot of students practice dancing in the dance room, play music in the new SAC till 1 am. The food court is another place where students hang out during nighttime. You can also take a stroll on the campus or hang out with friends beside the lake. Apart from this some students also prefer to spend their nights playing sports such as football, lawn tennis, basketball, squash, etc. Canteens generally at nights keep swarming with students and this frequency doubles up during the exam times.

The library remains open till 2 am and one can find Ph.D. and Mtech students there at night busy with their lab experiments, projects, and thesis writing. Many students also stay in their rooms or lab.

Studied at Manipal Institute Of Technology

Manipal Institute of Technology is a highly regarded engineering college. Here are a few pros and cons of the institute

Pros:

  • MIT not only offers an amazing campus life but also a fun-filled life outside the campus.
  • The refined crowd at Manipal combined with its excellent environment will groom your personality as a whole.
  • MIT has a rich club culture that caters to almost every passion, hobby, and niche. You can work with people who share a similar passion.
  • MIT gives you ample opportunities to add value to your resume by joining IAESTE, doing some foreign internships, or being a part of Formula Manipal.
  • MIT has a good location and there are many places to explore on weekends like Goa, Agumbe, Coorg, and Gokarna.
  • The campus is beautiful with a picturesque view surrounded by western ghats.

Cons

  • Most people will have a notion that you are either too rich and got through donations or you had no other choice.
  • The crowd also has students who are involved in bad habits. If you become a part of them, you may end up ruining your career.
  • The facilities do little to teach students and set very challenging question papers.

Overall the pros clearly overshadow the cons so you can overlook them and consider joining MIT without any hesitation.
