AC
Arindam Chakraborty Posted On : March 22nd, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Raipur (2020)

If you are interested in studying Computer Science or Coding, then you can take admission in IIIT Surat. In the following several comparisons between these two institutes are listed.

Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT)

  1. IIIT Surat is based on the Private and Public Partnership that is PPP. It gets funds from the Government of India, the State Government of Gujrat, and some Industry Stakeholders.
  2. The brand name of IIIT Surat is quite similar to IIT, additionally with the national tag.
  3. IIIT Surat offers admission only in the core branches of Information Technology: ECE and CSE. These two branches also offer high salary packages, so that student here gets higher CTCs than the students of NITs.
  4. It recommends a learning environment to the advanced syllabus that any other nationalized institute like IITs and NITs in EC and CS.
  5. Lastly, this institute has great demand as it follows the inclination towards the development of Digital India; thus, the job opportunities in IT sectors will be increased shortly.

National Institute of Technology (NIT)

  1. The top engineering colleges in India are IITs (Indian Institute of Technology), as it has the brand name of “Indian”, while NITs have a “National” Tag.
  2. Rather, NITs offer admission in most engineering branches, which are not available in IIITs.

Thus, it can be mentioned that IIITs are the best than NITs, specifically if the students want to establish their career in Electronics and Computer Science. Rather, for other branches, NITs are good, without any doubt.

Which one is good, CSE from IIIT Kottayam or IT from IIIT Bhopal? I am from Delhi and also knowing that IIIT Kottayam will have permanent campus.

SG
Shivani Grover Posted On : March 16th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science Engineering, Indian Institute Of Information Technology Bhopal (2021)

A side by side comparison of both the colleges might help you get a clear view on what to expect once you get there:

  • Curriculum: The curriculum mentor of IIIT Kottayam is IIIT Hyderabad which is one of the top-notch institutes for CSE in India. On the other hand, the curriculum mentor of IIIT Bhopal is MANIT Bhopal which doesn’t match the level of IIIT Hyderabad.
  • Closing rank: In 2019, the closing rank for IIIT Bhopal IT was around 41K in the special round. While for IIIT Kottayam CSE, the closing rank was almost 40K at the end of special round-II. You can check the opening and closing ranks for both the colleges in the year 2019 below:

Institutes

Round 1

Round 2

IIIT Kottayam

19863-37501

37712-39850

IIIT Bhopal

19220-37277

37825-40622

  • Placements: In 2019, the first placement was held where good companies came forward for recruitment. Some of them wereNISSAN, L&T, Reliance (JIO), etc. NISSAN offered packages starting from 6 Lakh to 10 Lakh.
  • Coding culture: Coding culture at IIIT Kottayam is at par with old IIIT’s like IIIT Allahabad, Gwalior, and good NITs. More than 70% of students clearing the starting round of CODE JAM conducted by Google
  • Campus: While IIIT Bhopal campus construction is yet to be started IIIT Kottayam campus is almost ready.

From the above comparison, it’s pretty clear that IIIT Kotayyam has an edge over IIIT Bhopal. However, do consider your pool of interest because at the end your skills and hard work matters the most for shaping your future!

Is Sikkim Manipal University good for a B.Tech?

JB
Jiya Banerjee Posted On : September 28th, 2021
Civil Engineering (B.Tech) from Sikkim Manipal University

No, the administration is not particularly the best at Sikkim Manipal University. I know a few people from the institute and here is what they had to say about the institute.

  • There is a huge locational disadvantage of the university, given the constant issues faced by students. Recently, they have installed an ATM machine.
  • The mess of the institute is not in its best condition. It is run by local people. They do not especially get concerned about the complaints students usually submit. The quality of food is not good even though they take exorbitant amounts of money for the food.
  • The administration doesn’t take the necessary steps to resolve the issues raised by students.
  • According to one of my friends from the CSE department they were not allowed to take industrial training from other companies.
  • The professors are not gonna invest much of their time in your project. However, your project may get rejected for silly mistakes.
  • Recently, in terms of placement, TCS rejected SMIT, while Amazon only hired students as their interns. The placement scenario is not good.

This is everything that you should be aware of before enlisting at Sikkim Manipal University.

Which one is better: IT in IIIT Allahabad or CSE in BITS Goa?

MS
Muktesh Shukla Posted On : March 21st, 2023
Studied at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT Allahabad)

The IT degree at IIIT Allahabad is considered one of the best in India, and it is aligned with the CSE curriculum from the best IITs and NITs in India. The professors are a mixed bag, with some highly qualified, doing good research, and teaching well, while some may be uninteresting. However, with some self-motivation, the academic landscape is quite good.

IIIT Allahabad has a great culture for programming, which can help you become a serious developer. The infrastructure is good, the campus is green, and the architecture is impressive, with the added benefit of being centrally air-conditioned.

On the downside, the city life in Allahabad is not great, especially if you come from a metro city. You may experience a cultural shock. The research environment is not exceptional, and there are only a handful of students aspiring to pursue higher education. You will find yourself in a batch of more than 200 students, in which you have to create your own identity. The weather is terrible, with extremely hot summers and cold winters (although some people may like the winters). The sports infrastructure is not the most amazing one.

In summary, here's the verdict:

  • If you're interested in research and want to pursue technical education further in your career, BITS Goa may be the right choice for you.
  • If you want a great Indian IT job after your degree, IIIT Allahabad may be the right choice for you.
  • If you're looking for a better peer group, better girls, and a more happening city life, BITS Goa may be the right choice for you.
  • If you're serious about programming and have a penchant for Competitive Programming, IIIT Allahabad may be the right choice for you.

Which is better CSE from BPIT or IT from MSIT (second shift)?

SK
Subhash Kataria Posted On : June 10th, 2021
Studied at Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology

MSIT is definitely better than BPIT when it comes to computer science engineering. BPIT is not that bad but not as good when compared to MSIT.

Placements at BPIT are getting better each year but MSIT is still leading. The table below should provide you with a better perspective on the same:

College name

Average package

Highest package

Hiring companies

MSIT

INR 4 to 8 LPA

INR 21 LPA

MU Sigma, Jaro Education, Amazon, Google, Ion Trading

BPIT

INR 3.95 LPA

INR 10 LPA

HSBC, BYJU’s, Mavenhive, Hashedin Technologies, Infosys

Overall, there isn’t much difference between the two colleges. If you are planning to pursue your post-graduate studies, the college will probably not matter but your studies definitely will. You should also take into account the distance you might have to travel every day which could play a major role.

My suggestion to you would be to write down the pros and cons of both the colleges and see which matters more. Is it the college name or the college stream?

How can I score more than 90% for a B.Tech in JNTUH?

JP
Jiten Pradhan Posted On : August 3rd, 2023
Studied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2020)

I will shed some light on the university exams situation at JNTUH. It's almost impossible to score good marks here because irrespective of what you write the correction staff simply gives you zero. They don't care what you have written and when you write the same answers in your supplementary exams, you end up getting passed. This is the reality here where the toppers fail in exams while the failures top.

If your aim is to get 90% here, I will suggest you have a change of mind. Stop focusing on mere percentages and rather focus on gathering as much knowledge and skills as you can. Eventually, recruiters don't consider your grades but your knowledge and performance in the interview. At JNTUH, you get marks only if you write the exact words from the textbook even if it means you don't understand a single word. I will mention a few simple tips that will help you score decent marks here:

  1. Always write the answer in points; each point comprising 2-3 lines. A long answer should have at least 10-15 such points.
  2. Underline the keywords in every point and highlight the main points.
  3. Make sure your answer sheet appears organized. Use margins, draw a line after each answer, highlight the formulae, etc
  4. Presentation is very important so dont strike off the answers as you may end up losing more marks.
  5. Write the long answers carrying 10 marks in 4 pages, short answers carrying 3 marks in 15 lines, and the 2 marks answers in 6 to 7 lines.

These tips will help you survive at JNTUH by getting decent marks but won't help you in increasing your knowledge which is very important once you leave college. So work on that as well!

What is the difference between EEE, EnI and ECE at BITS, Pilani?

PS
Prateek Sharma Posted On : August 5th, 2023
studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

BITS Pilani does not offer an Electronics and Communication Engineering Program. When comes to ENL and EEE, there are some key points you should keep in mind as an applicant, which are listed below

Opportunities – In the current scenario, EEE opens up more opportunities than ENL. For Instance, the Indian Engineering Examination is only applicable to students from ECE and EEE

Campus – BITS Pilani is far better than BITS Hyderabad as they have well-equipped lab and infrastructure

Placement – The three batches can sit for the placement, but the companies give more weight to Communication and Digital Signal Processing

So, it is better to choose EEE than ENL at BITS Pilani.

What is the process of getting an admission at IIIT Bangalore for a B.Tech?

SS
Savi Sharma Posted On : October 10th, 2023

In order to join the iM.Tech course at IIIT Bangalore, you need to clear JEE Mains with around 8000 rank. After attaining this rank, visit the IIITB website and apply for an iM.Tech in CS/EC. You’ll receive an offer letter after which you can join this college.

The college does not follow any reservation criteria for its admissions. So with a decent rank in JEE Mains, you’ll get admission to the integrated program. The faculty is top-notch, with educators having studied at prestigious colleges like CMU, Stanford, University of Waterloo, etc. You’ll be taught an updated curriculum, and the studies will be industry relevant.

This is how you can get admission into IIIT Bangalore for your iM.Tech. The college does not offer a B.Tech degree.

What is the fee structure of Jadavpur University B Tech?

PC
Pankaj Roy Chowdhury Posted On : October 5th, 2021
ECE at Jadavpur University (2020)

Pursuing a course at Jadavpur University is quite affordable, as opposed to other universities. It is incredible to believe that a university that ranks among the top 15 engineering colleges of India, costs less than most universities around the nation.

Here is a brief highlight of different fees in JU.

  • Tuition fees: Rs. 2400 per year
  • Refundable Caution Deposit: Rs 2500 (One time)
  • Hostel fees: Rs. 1000 per month (It includes different kinds of vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals as well)
  • Examination fees: Rs. 60 to Rs. 70 per semester
  • Library Fine (if a book is submitted late): 6 Paisa per day for some books and 50 Paisa per day for others.

This was the typical fee structure followed a few years back. Recently, there can be a 5% - 10% increment regarding the same. As per the recent update, the 1st year course fee for B.Tech at JU is 2,400. You can evaluate the expenditure to be around 1 lakh for the entire B.Tech course, incorporating the tuition fees, study materials, hostel fees, mess fees, alongside other miscellaneous expenses.

On the other hand, JU has a great placement record. A typical student from the CSE department can receive an average salary package of about INR 19 LPA, while it is INR 8 LPA for departments of ECE, EEE, and IT. Lastly, the average salary package is INR 6 LPA for departments concerning Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Metallurgy, Construction, and Production.
