As a native of Sri City, in my experience, you will definitely receive a quality education and it is nothing short of the kind of education offered at IIIT-K. Everything is growing at a rapid rate. In order to compare between the two, my suggestion would be to check the website and look at the faculty. From what I know, IIIT Sri City has some really good faculty in terms of their qualifications. You can even compare the placement statistics of the two places. This should definitely give you a clear idea about how good the college and your future prospects by the time you finish your degree.

Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology is different from the university. The college conditions are not better than Galgotias university.

One of my acquaintances who has graduated from VNIT has asked me to choose my institute by keeping the following points in mind.

• VNIT for metallurgy would be a suitable choice for you if you don’t have a particular liking. Apart from that, the metallurgy of VNIT holds an enviable position in India. The syllabus for metallurgy is vast and involves a lot of memorization.
• If you want CS and unfortunately end up not getting it, the next logical step would be to choose IT. The syllabus of IT and CS are almost the same. In the big picture, it will have little importance if you complete your B.Tech from VNIT or NIT Raipur. You will have a degree and you will not regret the decision you made.

IT has a lot of scopes. Later down the road, if you want to continue with your higher studies, you will be capable of switching to almost any department pertaining to computers. IT from NIT Raipur is an excellent choice.

The scope in the metallurgy sector is limited nowadays. It is obviously your call, though. There is vast scope in IT like research, job, etc.

Some of my friends studied at Thapar University. According to them there's definitely no uniforms in Thapar University. 

• However, the first year students who have a 'khaki dress' will have to wear it for workshops. 
• This is compulsory not only for BE but the rest of the branches as well.
• As an omnipresent rule for science programs, you'll have to wear a white coat/lab coat for some M.Sc. projects or practicals.
• No need to worry about it being a daily state of affairs. 
• At times you'll have to show unity with a uniform as well, such as to affirm your stand for cultures through the Saturnalia and for technical stuff through Aranya. 
• These fests include modelling shows and you might want to join in and showcase your skills. 

A uniform might be needed for these. Sometimes a faculty member might ask you to be in formals, they do expect that, but no restrictions as such.
