Should I join Manipal Institute of Technology or IIITD?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : September 8th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

My brother was in a similar dilemma when he got CS in Manipal as well as IIIT Delhi. After consulting a few friends at Manipal, he decided to go for IIIT Delhi. He stated the following reasons for choosing IIIT Delhi over MIT Manipal.

  1. Selection Criteria : Manipal selection criteria a relatively easier selection criteria than the JEE Main + CBSE criteria IIITD uses. There isn't any kind of negative marking and focus is given to the English language. Thus, the crowd may not be as talented and intellectual as IIIT Delhi.
  2. CSE : I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said IIIT Delhis CSE program is at par with the IITs. The faculty is highly qualified and the curriculum is very dynamic. The first year is branch-specific and does not have common subjects.
  3. Higher Studies : IIIT Delhi students are exposed to some of the best research and projects. The faculty's Letter of recommendation can help shape your career for the better.
  4. Placements : IIIT Delhi does not have mass recruiters and very limited non-tech companies. The overall placement stats are excellent.

If you want laid-back academics with a vibrant campus life, your choice should be Manipal whereas if you want a rigorous curriculum, then go for IIIT Delhi. It’s just a question of what your priorities are.

The best way to choose the right college for you is to give preference to the branch and not just the tag. As a NIT pass out my friend claims that the opportunities NIT provides, and the freedom it gives you to grow is unmatched. The institute does give you a high level of freedom that might break or make your career. It’s you who decides the choices you make.

The best part about NIT Durgapur is its active club culture, which ensures a good bond between like-minded people. Also, being a government college, NIT charges very low fees in comparison to MIT, a private college.

AG
Alka Gupta Posted On : September 8th, 2023
Studied at Manipal Institute Of Technology

B.Tech in Biotechnology offers a mixed curriculum covering areas of science, technology, and engineering. It also focuses on research. The Manipal brand may add to your profile but it depends on your interests. There are a plethora of opportunities in Industrial biotechnology & biochemical engineering whereas life science-oriented fields need more time. For more opportunities in that field, you will have to pursue a Masters.

MIR Manipal is a decent option for BTech in Biotechnology. The batch size is small and the faculties are great. Students get one-to-one attention from professors which is very crucial for an R&D-oriented stream. Professors have a lot of ongoing projects so you will learn a lot here.

Students are provided with internships, placements, and pre-placement offers (PPO) in core companies and ITES. Some of the core companies that recruit Biotechnology students of MIT Manipal are Nicholas Piramal Ltd., Philips HealthCare, Biocon, Syngene, Dr. Reddys, GlaxoSmithKline Asia Pvt Ltd, Molecular Connections Pvt Ltd, Wipro Wellness Care, Solara Active Pharma, Elexes Medical and Hyde Engineering. Other companies such as IBM, TCS, Accenture, Infosys, Wipro, PricewaterhouseCoopers, UST Global, Tolaram Group, Gen Works, The Math Company, and Think & Learn visit campus placements regularly.
