I got an MBA seat both in Hyderabad Central University and Gitam University Vizag. Which is better in terms of placements and faculty?

WG
Writam Gupta, Posted On : November 10th, 2021
studied Master of Computer Applications at University of Hyderabad (2018)

Among Hyderabad Central University (HCU) and GITAM University Vizag, it is suggested that you go for Hyderabad Central University.

  • Studying at Hyderabad Central University will be a much safer option, considering academics and placements.
  • Being a central university and entertaining politically affiliated student organizations on campus catches the attention of national media.
  • The faculty is much more interactive here, and are more than willing to stay back after work if guidance is required.
  • GITAM has better hostels than Hyderabad Central University.
  • HCU has much lower fees compared to GITAM.

Lastly, placements majorly depend on the individual and not on the institution. So, if you work hard no matter the institution, you will definitely secure a good placement offer from a reputed company.

Is it worth studying for an MBA in Karunya University, Coimbatore? How is the placement?

SR
Sauvik Roy Posted On : October 25th, 2021
MBA Marketing & International Business, Karunya University (2018)

I have a few friends who graduated from Karunya University and according to them, it is a decent university for pursuing your MBA. The academics and teaching methodology employed at the institute is great.

However, the placement record of the university is not that great. The companies that come to campus placement for MBA are very few in number. But if you have the required skills you can get off-campus placement. According to the recent placement highlights the highest CTC offered at the institute is 25 LPA.

Can I do MBA in Canada without GMAT?

DS
Debadrita Sinha Posted On : February 10th, 2022
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi (2019)

Very few universities in Canada offer MBA without GMAT scores. They will consider other factors as eligibility criteria such as work experience for selection.

York University’s Schulich of School of Business, McMaster University’s Degroote School of Business are some of the most reputed business schools in Canada that offer MBA without GMAT. Other than these, other universities offering MBA without GMAT are New York Institute of Technology, Thompson Rivers University, Lakehead University, Wilfrid Laurier University.

You have the option to apply for executive MBAs without a GMAT score, too.

What is the MBA admissions process at IBS Hyderabad?

ST
Shubham Tiwari Posted On : February 24th, 2023
Studied Master of Business Administration Degrees at ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad (Graduated 2018)

To successfully clear the first round, you must obtain the minimum score required by the entrance exams the college accepts, such as NMAT (150), CAT (60th percentile), and IBSAT.

If you are selected for the next round, the college will contact you via phone call and email to inform you about the GDPI (Group Discussion and Personal Interview) round. Your academic record, performance in the group discussion, and interview will be combined to determine your overall percentile.

Based on this percentile, you will be allotted a campus. If you are selected for IBS Hyderabad, you will receive a confirmation email after completing all of the aforementioned steps.

Why are Delhi School of Economics and other better ROI colleges (like JBIMS and many more) for an MBA not as popular as FMS?

MS
Manoj Saigal Posted On : February 20th, 2023
Business Analyst at Allicient Technologies Pvt Ltd (2020–present)

I have a friend who completed his MBA from the Delhi School of Economics. This answer is based on his opinions about why colleges with better ROI like DSE and JBIMS fail to compete with FMS. He has listed a few reasons for the lack of popularity of such B-schools:

  1. Establishment: DSE MBA first began in 1986 whereas FMS was established in 1954. So the course and the institute are the oldest in the FMS case.
  2. Alumni: Being an older Institute, FMS has a much stronger alumni network that has built a certain level of credibility in the corporate world. This criterion is missing in the case of DSE.
  3. Courses offered: Until 2015, DSE offered courses like Master of Organization Development and Human Resources and Master of International Business instead of MBA. Firstly these specializations are not at par with Finance and Marketing. Secondly, MBA has more value than MHROD and MHIB.
  4. Industrial relations: FMS is much more exposed to the industry and has excellent relations with the corporate world owing to a large number of its alumni.
  5. Faculty: The faculty is almost similar as both DSE and FMS operate under DU. But the shortcomings are compensated for at FMS via the compulsory guest lectures by industry experts.
  6. Crowd: The extremely high cutoff ensures only the most talented people enter FMS thereby increasing the quality of education and peer learning experience at FMS. This aspect too is pretty weak in the case of DSE.

It is because of these strong factors that B Schools like JBIMS fail to match the level of popularity enjoyed by FMS.

How is Tezpur University for an MBA?

VM

B.Voc Food Processing Technology, Tezpur University (2019)

Other than IIM Shillong, Tezpur University is the only institute that uses CAT scores for admission in MBA. They also accept MAT scores. I have a few friends who attended TU for their MBA and according to them, it is a decent institute for pursuing your MBA.

A lot of recruiting companies visit the campus placements each year. In the last placement drive, the salary packages offered were in the range of 3.5-10 LPA. Major recruiting companies on TU are Wipro, HCL, ICICI, Axis Bank, etc.

Is Jaipur National University good for MBA?

JS
Joy Sengupta Posted On : October 14th, 2021
Studied Bachelor of Computer Applications Degrees at Jaipur National University (2020)

For MBA, Jaipur National University will not be a good option, as it is a NAAC B grade institute.

Faculty:

The faculty of this university is not very interactive with the students. They have good knowledge about their subjects. However, they are not aware of the latest development and technologies.

Infrastructure:

  • The infrastructure of this college is outdated. The computers available in the computer labs are very slow and most of them are not in working condition.
  • The chairs in the lab are also very poor and are not comfortable for the students to sit and attend classes.
  • The food served at the hostels is not good. Also, the management doesn't even respond to the complaints of students.

Placements:

  • The placements are good enough as the university has tie-ups with some popular companies in both technical and non-technical fields.
  • Students receive job offers for the roles of software/website developer, database administrator, and outbound calling processes.
  • Companies such as SAP, Capgemini, QMS India, Infosys visit the campus for interviews but the number of students recruited by these companies is very less.
  • In the recent placement drive, the highest CTC offered at Jaipur National University was 12 LPA.

It will be better to avoid this university for MBA and look for some other better colleges such as Suresh Gyan Vihar University in Jaipur.

How can I do MBA at IIM Bangalore?

JJ
Jason Jose Posted On : December 30th, 2022
Studied Master of Business Administration Degrees at Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur (Graduated 2022)

It is simple to gain admission to IIM Bangalore to pursue an MBA. Apply for the common admission test (CAT), get a good percentile based on your previous work experience, and then pass the WAT-GD-PI process. Every year, nearly 2 lakh aspirants take the CAT. The prestigious 2-year MBA program at IIMB accepts only 400-500 students. That means you must outperform 1,99,500 other students or 99.75% of those vying for the coveted seat.

IIMB requires stellar academics in your 10th/12th/UG, meaningful participation in extra-curricular activities (even better if you have won some awards), and a zeal to give your best and survive the rigorous curriculum as you enter a daunting corporate life later.  If you are a General Engineer Male (GEM), you must score at least 99%ile (assuming you scored 85-90% in your 10th/12th/UG) to be considered for an interview. Sometimes the cutoff is as high as 99.5%ile or higher. Because of gender diversity, General Engineer Females (GEF) have a few percentile points advantage. If you come from a non-engineering background, you can still get an interview even if your score is 90-95%. Although your percentile goal should not be based on your UG profile. To get the highest CAT percentile, you must give your all.

For CAT preparation, you must first understand where you stand. Solve any previous year's CAT exam to determine your strengths and weaknesses. Consult a coaching institute to determine whether you require coaching or if you can prepare on your own. The idea is to start with the fundamentals. After that, begin solving mocks. It is also more important to analyze mocks than it is to solve them. Determine your mistakes and try not to repeat them in the future. The trick is to look for incremental improvements in each mock.

When the CAT is finished and you have achieved the required percentile, it is time to start preparing for the WAT-GD-PI. Interviews for the IIMB will be stressful. They will run a rapid-fire round with strange questions, testing your ability to survive the rigorous curriculum while also verifying your credentials and experience.
