Which one is better, MAIT CSE or DTU BT/ENE/EP/PCT?
When deciding between engineering branches, it is important to consider your future goals and current interests. Here are some points to help you make an informed decision:
- Consider your plans: If you plan to pursue an MS abroad after graduation, then CSE may be a better option as Indians are highly sought after in the IT industry abroad. However, if you plan to work in India, both branches are equally good.
- Think about your career path: If you are interested in non-technical roles like consulting and marketing, then either branch would suffice. However, if you are interested in hardcore engineering jobs, then both branches are equally good.
- Look at the exposure provided: DTU offers excellent exposure as the number of non-tech companies visiting DTU is more than the total number of companies visiting any IP college. However, both branches offer good exposure in their respective fields.
- Evaluate your interests: If you are inclined towards a particular branch, then it would be better to pursue that branch as it will help you maintain interest and focus on your studies.
In conclusion, both branches have their advantages, and the choice ultimately depends on your personal preferences and career goals. While DTU provides excellent exposure, CSE may be a better option if you plan to pursue an MS abroad.
Which will be a better choice, an ETCE at JU or a CSE at IIEST Shibpur?
Both the branches, whether CSE in IIEST Shibpur or ETCE in Jadavpur University is worth their name. Still, there are many factors regarding Rankings, Admission Process, Fees, Scholarships, and Placements that differentiates them.Jadavpur University acquires a spot as 17th college in BTech amongst 300 in India 2020.IIEST Shibpur, on the other hand, stands firm with 21st ranking amongst Engineering institutes, as per NIRF Ranking 2020.
ADMISSIONS:
Jadavpur University:
- To be eligible for the JU admission process, a student must have 10+2 with 45% and scores of WBJEE. Later, a counseling process takes place.
- 90% of seats at JU are for domicile General Category and 10% for all Indian students.
- The seat intake for ETCE students for UG is 64 whereas, for PG courses, it is 28.
IIEST Shibpur:
- To be eligible, students must have their CBSE 10+2 scores with at least 45% and a minimum of 30% marks in English. The entrance exam for admissions is JEE Mains (Paper I). After selection, a student goes through JoSAA Counselling and CSAB Special Board.
Fees:
- The overall fees of BTech in JU is far less in comparison to IIEST Shibpur. A student has to pay a minimum fee of INR 9,600 for the whole course whereas, a student from IIEST has to pay INR 1.37 lakhs per year.
- Apart from this, JU offers scholarships to meritorious students. A few are SN Scholarship and DAAD Scholarship.
Placements:
Jadavpur University:
- According to the latest data, there was a 100% placement rate from JU. The highest annual package was INR 58 lakhs.
- The total number of eligible students from ETCE was 55, and 51 got placements. The average annual package for ETCE was INR 9 lakhs, and the highest was INR 39 lakhs.
- These students got into software and core companies. The top recruiters were Amazon, Synopsis, TATA Consultancy Services, HPCL, and Goldman Sachs. Some students even went for higher studies from this branch into IITs, IIMs, etc.
IIEST Shibpur:
- A drop in placements is visible from the past consecutive years in IIEST Shibpur. In 2017 it was 85.71%, 81.82% in 2018 and 72% in 2019.
- The average annual package of a CSE student is INR 9 lakh while the highest package was 39.12 lakhs.
- 90 reputed companies came for final placement and made 462 offers.
- Some of thetop recruiters were Cognizant, Infinity Infosys Parks, Capgemini, etc.
Looking into the above factors, ETCE from JU proves to be a better option than CSE in IIEST Shibpur in rankings, fees, placements criteria.
Which college is better for CSE or IT engg., Vidyalankar Institute of Technology or Atharva College of Engineering?
Vidyalankar Institute of Technology is not a good option if you are opting for CSE or IT engineering. One of my friends studying there said that it is not a good educational institute and has numerous flaws.

These pointers will make you look deeper into the Vidyalankar Institute as an educational institution -
- The faculty of Vidyalankar Institute are neither skilled or professional, nor is the course completed on time.
- Faculties are not very helpful and do not coordinate well with students.
- The assignments given in class are not practical or industry oriented.
- Apart from studies, extracurriculars at Vidyalankar are also not encouraged. Students also cannot be part of clubs or societies.
- Curriculum structure and college activities are not up to mark.
- Attendance is given more importance than knowledge in Vidyalankara, thus it does not match with the students preferences.
- Only the computer department of Vidyalankar Institute is better among the others.
- Vidyalankar Institute does not have an extensive alumni.
Therefore, choosing the Vidyalankar Institute of Technology would not be a good option for CSE or IT engineering.
Which is the best college for CSE or IT – VIIT (Kondhawa, pune) or Singhgad (Wadgaon, Pune)?
VIIT, Pune offers a BTech, while Singhgad offers a BE program for CSE. VIIT, Pune is ranked 155 for BTech by NIRF. Whereas, Singhgad is ranked 138 for BTech by TOI 2020.
Faculty:
VIIT, Pune has more than 25 faculties for the CSE department and most of them have 10 years of experience in teaching as well as the research field. On the other hand, the department of CSE/IT Singhgad (Pune, Wadgaon) have more than 10 well-qualified teaching staff.
Infrastructure:
The Infrastructure of the CSE department of VIIT is really very good as compared to Singhgad. CSE department of VIIT has established industry-sponsored laboratories such as GSE-RER, ICC (Infosys campus connect), and CISCO networking academy by CISCO.
Admission process:
VIIT Pune and Singhgad follow the same admission process.

These two engineering colleges also require the common eligibility criteria for the students to take admission.
Eligibility- The students should have 60-65% marks in both 10th and +2 science with PCM for the general category and there is 5% relaxation in marks for reserved candidates.
Entrance score- The candidates who want to take B.Tech admission in VIIT and Singhad need to have a valid JEE- Main score and MHT-CET score. In 2019 the JEE Main closing cutoff for CSE at the institutes was 2648 (VIIT), Singhgad (5104).
The annual course fee for CSE at VIIT is 1.5 lakh and at Sinhgad it is 1.24 lakhs for the same.
Placements:

As of 2019 in VIIT Pune, the highest CTC received by the students of CSE was 15 LPA and the lowest was 2.4 LPA.

Singhgad also provides good placement for CSE students. In 2019 the highest and average CTC at the institute was 8 lakhs and 2.5 lakh.
The major recruiters at both of these institutes are Accenture, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Microsoft, TCS, etc.
Both the institutes are well-reputed and offer decent CSE programs. So, choose the institute according to your convenience.
Which is the better branch in SOE, CUSAT: CS or IT?
One of my friends shared his experience of being a student of IT in SOE. His first choice was CS during registration but he was given IT due to his rank. Initially, he missed CS and remained worried about being in a different branch. But he finally understood that IT was better than CS.
The following points are based on his experience at the campus:
- The faculty members at CS are very strict when compared to IT.
- The administration level is also managed at IT. You will experience a lot of hassle in CS even if you want a sign on any application.
- The syllabus of IT is comparatively better than CS.
- Speaking of IT & CS in SOE, there is also a difference in the way both these courses are managed by the faculties. Both have amazing and experienced faculties taking care of the subjects and therefore it will not be fair to prefer one over another.
- This is naturally because of the difference in subjects both the branches have and a different approach is needed for the faculties to explain them to the students.
It is also suggested by many seniors and experienced friends that you take a closer and detailed look at the placements of every year for both these branches at CUSAT before taking the call. There is always a slight difference in the placement every year depending on the industrial, market requirements, and interests of the students.
