How are the foreign placements at BITS Goa?
One of my friends is an alumnus of BITS Goa and he was able to provide the recent placement information of the institute.
For the year 2020 around 249 companies visited the BITS Pilani Goa campus recruiting various students for various roles. Some of the biggest tech companies that recruited from the campus include Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Oracle, Apple, and many more.
The highest international package which the campus got was INR 1.4 crores. This is comparable to many top IITs of the country. However, you should keep in mind that very few, around 5-7, students from the top 20 engineering colleges in India get international offers. Also, most of the offers are for computer science students.
What salary can I expect after completing a BBA from Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies?
According to the recent Maharaja Agrasen placements the average CTC for BBA is around INR 3.4 LPA. While the highest salary package offered goes up to around INR 7.2 LPA. BBA students get recruited as HR, Sales Managers, BDA, etc. The major recruiters that take part in campus recruitment are Reliance Communications, Deloitte, etc.
I was willing to join Chandigarh University to do my BE (CSE). How good are the placements for CSE students and the chances of getting placed?
Regarding infrastructure and facilities, Chandigarh University's average cannot be compared with LPU, SRM, or any other big university. However, in terms of placements, CGC brings great happiness. The placement opportunities at CGC are pretty good, especially for software engineering. Many reputed companies like Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Dell, IBM, Infosys, Cognizant, etc., visit the campus for recruitment.
CGC is growing very fast and is becoming the number-one university in the northern region for software engineering. However, the number of students per stream is around 1400, which is quite a large number, making competition challenging. The teachers in the first year may need improvement, but after you go to your core branch in the second year, the staff is well experienced and quite good.
CGC conducts various competitive fests and workshops. Additionally, they provide international internships with foreign universities in the USA, Canada, and more. CGC has also started the TPP program, which teaches students aptitude, C, C++, and communication skills, preparing them for technical interviews during placements.
Overall, CGC is a good college, but attendance is a major issue. A minimum of 75% attendance is compulsory to give the examination. Even if you get 74.4%, you will not be able to give your final exams. In case, you're thinking of doing B. Tech from Chandigarh, you should first give preference to Thapar, CCET, and PEC.
How are the placements of industrial design engineering at NIT Rourkela?
The exact placement scenario of Industrial Design Engineering at NIT Rourkela depends on the individual's preference and strengths. Consider the following points
- Students who aren't particularly interested in the field, are recruited by companies like TCS, IBM, and Infosys. Their salary packages are in the range of 3 - 3.5 LPA.
- If you have prepared for CAT and Analytics tests, sit for companies like Affine Analytics, ZS associates, Mu Sigma, and a few other analytics companies. The salary packages offered by these companies are in the range of 4-6 LPA.
- If you are not interested in mechanical, you can sit for core mechanical companies like Honda, 3dplm, Thermax, etc. The salary is offered in the range of 4 - 7 LPA.
- If you want to pursue product design go for higher studies or do internships and gain experience to crack Product design jobs.
- Newgen is the best company for you if you are interested in design and have a great portfolio. It offers a salary in the range of 5 - 6 LPA.
- If you want to pursue a career in UI/UX, you can opt for off-campus placements.
Those interested in neither of the above options can try their luck in entrepreneurship.
How do I prepare for non-tech companies coming for placements in NSIT?
Here are some important tips that you can follow to get placed in a good non-tech company during the NSUT Delhi placements-
- Good companies start visiting the campus in the last week of July. So don’t procrastinate on making your resume. Every company seeks qualities in a resume. Like, Finance companies focus on your academics and any related course, while Consulting companies appreciate case studies/MUNs in your resume. Keep an updated resume. In case you are short on material, mention any prizes, competitions, or olympiads. Do mention some social work you did as that will add ‘stars’ to your resume.
- The first round comprises MCQs to test your logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude. Companies like Axtria also test your verbal ability (grammar and critical reasoning specifically), and a bit of coding knowledge. Practice these questions from a CAT preparation book/ modules from a good MBA coaching institute. Choose a book according to your comfort- from basic to advanced. Practice a few sets of verbal and logical reasoning questions daily. You can learn coding basics from ‘Test your C skills’ and ‘Let us C’. Data Analytics companies like Axtria also ask a little about DBMS, SQL, and OOPS concepts. Study them from C++ by Sumita Arora class 12th or online.
- Consulting companies then focus on how you deal with cases and guess estimates. Read/Practice these from ‘Case in Point’, ‘Ace the Case’
and ‘Wharton guide’. For puzzles and brainteasers, read the book ‘Acing the Brainteaser Interview’. Indiabix is a good source for puzzles, quantitative and logical aptitude.
- Practice common HR interview questions.
- Research well about your target company, and listen carefully during the company’s presentation, and ask smart questions during the company’s
presentation or interview.
Try to remain calm and composed. You will get selected by a good company during the NSUT Delhi placements. But if things don’t go as planned, remember that everything gets better eventually.
Is placement in LNCT Bhopal for CSE good or bad?
Yes, placement opportunities for CSE at LNCT Bhopal are quite good. If you are looking at the placement scenario then you must know that companies like Wipro, Cognizant are the ones that come to recruit and surely they recruit in good numbers. Many telecommunication companies also visit the campus placements. The average CTC offered at the institute is 3-8 LPA. While the highest CTC offered in 2020 was 27 LPA by Microsoft.
LNCT is the best college out there in Bhopal. For CS and IT, all kinds of companies, big or small, come to the placement drive.
Why don't companies like BCG, McKinsey and JP Morgan come to IIT Roorkee for placements while they hire students from other IITs?
By BCGL MCminsey and JP Morgan, you are referring to Consulting and Finance companies basically.
Consulting: Consulting giants like BCG and McKinsey usually visit only the top institutes and choose only the cream candidates. This is because of the nature of the profession that requires only the best candidate. These candidates should have had an excellent rank which is possible only in the top IITs like Bombay and Delhi. The peer quality is much better at these institutes with some who have won International Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Astronomy Olympiads, played sports at the National level, and won quizzes & debating events nationally.
Finance: These companies look for an extensive knowledge base in Finance and excellent Mathematical aptitude. These finance enthusiasts are rarely there in Roorkee owing to its laid-back attitude. Not many are able to crack CFA/FRM while there are many who have at IIT KGP. The lack of enthusiasm and preparation on the part of the students has resulted in top finance companies like JP Morgan, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, etc.
Some other major reasons why these companies don’t visit Roorkee for placements are
- Students at IIT Roorkee are not well prepared in advance for placements. They have no idea regarding case studies and guesstimates. Rarely does anyone prepare for the GD round
- The resume preparation is not given due importance and students take this lightly
- The company’s PPT is given very less enthusiasm
- The seniors don’t provide enough assistance and overall the culture at IIT Roorkee is very laid back.
Given the opportunity, some might clear the interview of these big firms but because of the overall preparation of the branch, all the students are deprived of this opportunity.
Which is better for a BCA: Maharaja Surajmal or VIPS in terms of placement?
According to one of my friends at VIPS, it is much better than Maharaja Surajmal. They both are affiliated with the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU). So essentially, the core study structure will be more or less similar at both institutes. But VIPS is known to have a better faculty, infrastructure, and placements.
Your first year at VIPS will go like a breeze with the smooth conduct of academics as well as extra-curricular activities.

Ultimately, it is your choice, for your career ahead. I suggest that the better infrastructure of VIPS tips the balance in its favor. So, you can opt for VIPS over Maharaja Surajmal
What is the scope and the average salary of mining engineering at IIT Kharagpur?
The scope of Mining is very limited and can be accessed only if you are truly interested in Mining and are serious about pursuing a career in the same. I suggest you pursue higher education in Mining from an elite foreign university like Colorado School of Mines, Royal School of Mines, and University of New South Wales. This will nurture your technical skills to the best. Another suggestion in this regard is that you can also go for ISM. The enthusiasm for Mining at ISM is like nowhere else.
However, if you are after a good package rather than pursuing your enthusiasm, then IIT KGP is a better option. IIT KGP has an abundance of opportunities for the students academic environment is second to none. It offers extensive exposure and is thus most preferred by Engineering students of all branches.
As far as recruiters are concerned, a large number of them offer jobs to students at IIT KGP mainly because of the credibility of the Institute irrespective of the branch. Also, very few companies offer core jobs in Mining. Therefore, most mining students end up with non-core jobs.

How are the placements for general MBA at Amity Business School, Noida?
One of my friends studied at Amity Business School Noida. According to her, it is good because of its infrastructure, placements, faculty, and all the modern facilities.
Amity University runs three different B-schools - Amity Business School (ABS), Amity International Business School (AIBS), and Amity Global Business School (AGBS).
