Some people would say that competition is harmful to students as it pressurizes them but, to be honest, we cannot deny the fact that competition always increases the quality whether it is between students or big companies.
Having friends in both the institutes, I can say that ICFAI Business school (IBS Hyderabad) is much better than PSG Institute of Management.
In NIRF Ranking, ICFAI Business school (IBS Hyderabad) has been ranked #25 in India among top management institutes in 2021.
FORE School of Management is definitely the better choice than IBS Hyderabad. It is better in almost all aspects when compared to IBS Hyderabad. The table below has drawn a slight comparison on the basis of some basic factors

From the above table we can infer the following points
An additional feature of FORE that sets it further apart from IBS Hyderabad is its International Immersion Program. This program offers the kind of exposure you cannot even get at a reputed B School like IBS. You get exposed to the Global corporate world and the best part is that its fees are included in the course fees. So considering all the points mentioned above I conclude that FORE is a far better choice than IBS Hyderabad for MBA.
It can be concluded that IBS Hyderabad is a better choice than IILM University based on the placement percentage, the average package offered, the highest international and domestic packages offered, and the top recruiters. IBS Hyderabad recorded a placement percentage of 99% with an average package offered of INR 8.71 LPA and a rise in the highest international package offered as compared to 2021. On the other hand, IILM University had a lower highest and average package offered at INR 18 LPA and INR 7.50 LPA, respectively.
Additionally, IBS Hyderabad has a strong brand value with over 58,000 alumni employed globally, while IILM University has limited brand recognition. The brand value of IBS Hyderabad, as an established B-School, contributes to better graduate placement opportunities through its alumni network and strong corporate relationships. In comparison, IILM University is not as well-known and its graduates may face limitations in terms of job opportunities. These factors highlight the superiority of IBS Hyderabad as a better option for those looking to pursue a management degree.
IBS Hyderabad, XIME Bangalore, and BIMTECH are well-known Indian B-schools with distinct capabilities.
IBS Hyderabad has a robust curriculum, skilled professors, and a focus on practical learning through case studies and industry linkages. Many top corporations hire from the institute.
XIME Bangalore is another top B-school with industry links and entrepreneurial orientation. The institute partners with numerous top companies to provide internships and actual projects for students.
BIMTECH specializes in retail management. Its comprehensive retail management program includes supply chain management, marketing, and merchandising. Many top retail companies hire from the institute.
Take BIMTECH only if you are interested in Retail Management, otherwise, any one of the 2 are at par with the other for general management.
There is no specific criterion by any company that visits campus. A few criteria are like what percentage of the batch is placed. If many students are unplaced, then the company can find a good pool of students they can hire. Some companies specifically look for work-experience candidates. For example, ICICI Lombard visits such campuses and asks for a candidate with at least 24 months of work experience. It all depends on how the placements committee is negotiating with the companies and what are the requirements of the companies. Sometimes they mention the number of candidates they are looking to hire. Sometimes, they don’t tell any number.
Before I give you a picture of the ROI offered at IBS Hyderabad, let’s clear some misconceptions regarding what ROI is.
People usually calculate ROI by comparing the fees they have spent with the package they are offered during placements. For instance, if someone pays a fee of 16 Lakhs, they expect a package of nothing less than 10 Lakhs. And if they fail to get placed with such a package, they consider the ROI to be at fault. This in reality is the wrong way to comprehend the ROI. ROI is much more than the package you are offered. ROI includes almost everything you get from the college like
Only after considering these points, is the final ROI in the form of placements taken into consideration. Now if you work hard and maintain the top position you are likely to get a good package ranging from 10-45 LPA. But this depends on how you have spent the 2 years and your commitment to the course.
So ultimately I will say yes, IBS Hyderabad is definitely worth joining considering its ROI.
It is recommended to consider other colleges in Hyderabad for your post-graduation in management. Woxsen has the best infrastructure among the three colleges you mentioned, IPE Hyderabad, IBS Hyderabad, and Woxsen but it also comes with a high cost. IPE is prestigious but might not provide the best return on investment.
Colleges such as IMT, Ashoka School of Business (ASB), NMIMS, SIBM, and others offer a better return on investment with lower course fees of around INR 8–8.5 Lacs. The industry connect at Ashoka is excellent, and they have a number of industry professionals in the academic council to ensure the courses are aligned with industry needs and students receive proper grooming. This leads to lucrative placement opportunities.

Technically speaking, you need at least 87 percentile to make it into IBS Hyderabad. Although I have seen someone get in even with a 76 percentile, you should know that the chances are extremely low. This is because the students who get selected initially sometimes leave after getting offers from other B Schools like Great Lakes, NMIMS or FORE that are more convenient for them. This in turn empties several seats and candidates with a lower percentile who set ISB Hyderabad as the first preference get a chance to get admission. Even if you are unable to make it into Hyderabad, try for the Mumbai campus.
