I scored 54% in Class 12. Will I be eligible to pursue MBA in IIM, FMS, TAPMI?

SS
Sanjukta Sarkar Posted On : April 27th, 2023
Studied at PGDM from Indian Institutes of Management (2016)

Yes, with a 54% in class 12th, you are eligible to pursue MBA in IIMs, FMS, and TAPMI. The eligibility criteria are more than 50% in 12th for most MBA exams. However, there are certain weights assigned to the 10th, 12th, and graduation marks in IIMs. Overall, your score should be more than the cutoff of that year. You need to build your profile and get an exceptional percentile in CAT. The same goes for FMS and TAPMI.

AA
Avinash Attry Posted On : June 11th, 2023
Studied at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, Noida, Jaipur & Indore

.The eligibility criteria for admission to Jaipuria Institute of Management require that a candidate must have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their graduation from a recognized university. The overall cutoff for CMAT is 80 percentile to get an interview call. Since you have all these criteria satisfied, now only your interview performance will determine whether you will get admission or not. Usually, it is easy to get into Jaipuria. However, I will suggest applying to other colleges as well, as it will increase your chances of getting admission to a good MBA college.

What percentage is required for an Indian student to get an easy admission to the University of Waterloo?

NP
Nikita Pathak Posted On : January 11th, 2021
B.A. Mechanical Engineering & Artificial Intelligence, University of Waterloo (2021)

Since Waterloo is one of Canada's as well as world's best universities, there is no easy way getting admitted here. Waterloo’s admission averages range from low 80s to mid-90s. These can vary depending on the number of applications received as well as the number of spaces available in each program. You should already assume that the grades of students who apply will be generally very good. Your requirements will also differ with your nationality or where you’ve studied previously. But most importantly, you should know that grades alone won’t get you inside Waterloo as they take a good look at many other things. Thus, there are some aspects to work on if you're an Indian student wishing to study here:

  • Grades: At Least a minimum of 90% in grade 10 and grade 12 exams. (High school and Intermediate)
  • First or Second Division standing in one of the following.
    • All India Senior School Certificate awarded by CBSE.
    • Indian School Certificate awarded by CISCE.
    • Other pre-university certificate awarded after 12 years of academic studies.
  • English proficiency: Very important to have an IELTS score of 6.5 or TOEFL iBT score of 90.
  • Admission Information Form: You will need to write an exceptional AIF. This questionnaire gives you a great chance to display everything about you that makes you unique. You can share your extracurricular activities, work experience, volunteering activities and other initiatives.
  • Euclid Mathematics Contest: Strongly recommended to write the Euclid Mathematics Contest and/or the Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest. Results of the contests will be used in scholarship decisions and possibly admission decisions for programs in the Faculty of Mathematics.
  • Additional Factors: An online video interview may be needed, which allows the university to virtually meet you and get a sense of who you are and get a better idea of you.

These are the general requirements. Please note that some programs will have different criteria depending on the competition, degree type and program specification. There will not be one way to prepare for your application as the university looks at your whole profile and then takes a decision.

What should I do? I am confused on where I should take admission in Gujrat. Should I choose Nirma University, L.D. College or Dharmsinh Desai University? Which branch, CE or IT?

DR
Deboleena Roy Posted On : January 20th, 2021
Computer Engineering from Dharmsinh Desai University, Nadiad (2020)

Among the above institutes, an aid seat of Dharmsinh Desai University in CE would be the best option.

The following table gives the order of preference that a candidate should choose among the list of selected institutes.

Preference

Institute

Department

1

Dharmsinh Desai University

CE (aid seat)

2

Nirma University

CSE

3

Dharmsinh Desai University

CE (self-financed)

4

Dharmsinh Desai University

IT

5

L.D. College

CE or IT

Highlights supporting the above order of preference are discussed below.

  • CE is preferred over IT because CE (or CSE) contains more subjects, especially hardware and electronics papers. Also, placements in CE are better than IT, in most institutes.
  • Dharmsinh Desai University has a better faculty and teaching curriculum than Nirma University. A DIA (aid seat) in DDU has minimal fees too, so it is advised to choose first.
  • If you want to go for future studies in India or abroad, DDU and LD would be the better option.
  • In terms of placement and exposure, NIRMA leads in most cases among the above three. So, if you are just interested in placement, NIRMA is the better choice.

Overall Dharmsinh Desai University has the maximum advantages.
