IIT Indore is the best of all three IITs. It has very good research facilities in comparison to the other institutes and is rapidly improving. Since every other institution mentioned above is an IIT, so, there shall be always better opportunities in comparison to any other Engineering college in India. Also, IIT Bhubaneswar has a very good campus life and teaching faculty. It always stands at par in comparison to old IITs.
NIRF rankings are given to institutes according to the availability of facilities in various fields in the institute by MHRD. Faculty, campus life, and research facilities must be very good for an institute with good NIRF ranking. As Gandhinagar and Bhubaneswar are the capital cities, they lead to better connectivity and other metro facilities.
Campus life is always peaceful in any IIT since they are constructed in specially chosen places and they grow rapidly and simultaneously with other IITs. But the quality of teaching and the teaching methods vary from one institute to another. IIT- BHU and IIT Indore have their own campus with good hostel facilities while IIT Gandhinagar has its permanent campus but is still under construction.
The other way of choosing the institution is checking with the JEE advanced cut-off ranks. This would give an insight into the facilities in the institute and quality of the peer group as the quality of the peer group is the most important deciding factor in the selection of a campus.
No, IIT Gandhinagar does not shortlist candidates from 2nd round of M tech candidates. Also, they don’t provide any waiting list for the same. They keep the seats vacant if anyone does not take admission. Although it is not correct as the seats remain vacant which can be filled by other waiting list candidates and their year will also not get wasted but this is not in our hands.
M.Tech seats are first filled by premium IITs and then the remaining seats by outside students who have qualified GATE. If you enter the college by qualifying GATE then you will be eligible for a scholarship as well.
The college also conducts its personal test for M.Tech admissions. In which they ask quantitative, reasoning and engineering mathematics. There are no spot admissions as of now. As the college is new more changes are expected in the coming future.
IIT BHU and IIT Gandhinagar both are decent IITs. IIT Gandhinagar has a better NIRF ranking as compared to IIT BHU. Although IIT BHU has a lot of Engineering courses to offer, the overall infrastructure and environment are not as conducive as IIT Gandhinagar. Also, the recent year’s cutoffs are comparably higher for IIT Gandhinagar.
Furthermore, IIT Gandhinagar has a unique and distinctive “Foundation Program” which helps students get acquainted with academic life and college environment. Besides, the faculty of IIT GN is also among the best. On the contrary, there is a shortage of faculty members in many branches (including Civil Engineering) at IIT BHU.
The campus location of IIT Gandhinagar is also comparably better as compared to IIT BHU. It is pertinent to note that the campus of IIT BHU is merged with BHU, which makes the campus a crowded place for students. Also, the placement scenario in both the colleges is almost at the same level.
Although IIT BHU being much older than IIT Gandhinagar, offers a huge alumni base. IIT GN might be considered a new IIT by many, but the progress that it has shown is humongous. It also provides a conducive environment for research scholars and has an overhauled infrastructure (including labs). Both colleges have their pros and cons, so it is hard to choose one institute over the other.
There are a lot of things that make IIT Gandhinagar such a great institute. The academic structure here is quite flexible and there are a number of elective options to choose from as well. Here are some more points that will help you gain some clarity about the institute.
Minors/Honors/ Dual Major:
Faculty:
Location and Student life:
Many professors have zero attendance policy as well as invigilator-free tests. Overall, you can expect some of the best years of your life to take place here.
IIT Gandhinagar ranks 30th in the engineering department by NIRF 2019. Electrical Engineering is a part of core engineering. To be eligible for admission, a student will require 75% marks in their 10+2 and a valid JEE score. It is a 4-year course with fees of 2,58,500 a year.
BTech in Electrical engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar will cost a student 2,13,568 a year. The JEE cut off rank of Electrical Engineering is 2276-7542. In 2019, the placement percentage of IIT Bhubaneswar Electrical Engineering is 86%. The highest salary package offered is 39 lakhs per annum and the average salary package is 11 lakhs per annum. So, IIT Bhubaneswar will be better for Electrical Engineering because IIT Bhubaneswar has better facilities, Faculty, Location, Placement Percentage, etc.
Studying here my classmates and I have experienced a lot of things, during our summer internship. Four months of research for a particular project at IIT Gandhinagar under Professor Chakraborty were indeed the best days of our life. Don't feel hopeless comparing it with other IITs. This institute, like the rest, includes everything you would require for your course. If you're concerned about the labs, they are photonically sensored proving how advanced they are. Some students were granted 24*7 access. It is advised not to fiddle with any instruments there as, at the end of the day, you're at an IIT.
Nothing matches our experience over here as it was the most excellent time of our life. Also, putting more efforts into everything will show better results. You would have to do the research yourself as your work would be closely observed. In case you'd require guidance somewhere, you'll always have help. If you're there as an intern, you'd not be handed over a big problem. Instead, what comes your way would be a tiny part of the problem.
Considering my personal experience, I had to examine an idea allotted to me. Succeeding this I was allotted and gained access to the lab.
We managed to attend a good number of presentations and workshops as, by the time an active semester was on. These workshops and presentations concerned mechanical engineering, chemistry, control theory and sustainable energy. This was the technical and the scientific part of it.
On the other hand, discussions about Indian card and board games, Indian history of science, short films, etc. were held. The students here are intellectuals and your conversations with them would be unique. You won't feel as if your time has gone in vain, instead you will learn a lot of things.
Therefore, do grab the opportunity you get to be at IIT Gandhinagar. Don't buy anything that tells you about new IITs, instead, experience it yourself and gather some memories. This institute focuses solely on research. Spending time here is definitely worth it.
It would have been much better if the question was specific about what kind of standards. Since it does not specify any, here are all the possible standards to look upon.
The institution does not differentiate students and thus provides an equal platform for all in its decision-making process.
If I had to choose from IIT Ropar, IIT Gandhinagar, and IIT Roorkee, I would have gone for IIT Ropar. Let’s compare the institutes and their branches individually.
IIT Ropar and IIT Gandhinagar (CS):
IIT Ropar CS and IIT Roorkee EE:
All in all, IIT Ropar CSE offers better job opportunities, and thus the general preference order looks like
IIT Ropar CSE >> IIT Roorkee EE >~ IIT GN CSE.
