Questions Asked On NICMAR University, Pune

What is the lowest, average, and the highest CTC offered at NICMAR Pune campus for ACM? Having 2 years of experience, what package can I expect?

DR

There is no such thing as lowest CTC in NICMAR. It's very clear that if you don't perform well during the interview you will not receive any job offers.

Now talking about the salary package, the batch of 2020 received an average package of 6.75 LPA. The placement percentage was recorded to be 99.2%

Coming to the question regarding how much you could expect depends upon various factors like your academic performance, the ongoing market scenarios, and your performance on the day. Additionally, if you have two years of work experience then it will all go well and you can even expect a package above 5 LPA.

Does everyone get placed in NICMAR or do we need to have job experience?

It’s not mandatory that you have work experience, but it will be good if you have a couple of years of experience at the work front. This will give you a better understanding of the course at NICMAR. It’s also not compulsory to have work experience, in order to get placement. Although a few consulting companies do shortlist students based on their experience for better packages. But major recruiters are open for both. There are even some companies that prefer freshers. L&T is one such company.

However, that does not mean, everyone from NICMAR gets placed. Only the deserving candidates get placed.

Is the entrance test for NICMAR tough?

AS
Abhimanyu Singh Posted On : September 13th, 2021
MBA from National Institute of Construction Management and Research,Pune (2017)

The NCAT is the entrance exam for NICMAR. According to some of my friends who have taken the exam, it is not that difficult but easy if you prepare well.

  • For the written exam, you need to have hands-on practice with the aptitude and reasoning section.
  • You need to have good time management skills to ace the exam.
  • The next round would be Group Discussion. For this, you have to keep a record of the current affairs of both the World and India along with the domain you are studying, be it Interiors or Civil.
  • Have a sound knowledge of the current technologies and reforms made in the particular domain.
  • The last would be the personal interview round. It's quite easy if you have a command over your communication skills.

An interview is nothing but an interaction. For the preparation, in the case of a fresher, you can tell your accomplishments during the time of graduation. If you are a working individual, you can share your learning, experiences, and the contribution you have made in the industry while working tenure.

I got admission in nicmar pune in ACM but many present students from nicmar are advising not to join due to less placements is it true?

If you have joined Pune Campus, sit and relax. NICMAR is one of the reputed institutes for Construction Management. You will enjoy an unparalleled level of respect whenever you apply to companies like KPMG, L&T, Shapoorji Pallonji.

However, the university will not provide you with everything. You have to work hard to grasp such reputation and job profiles. If you are scoring only 60% in your PG degree and expecting to secure a job offer on the very 1st day, then you are wrong.

The placement process is very rigorous and you might have to go through at least six stages to secure a job offer. Your profile, personality, caliber, capability, and hard work determine the job role you will get.

ACM has a huge strength of 800+ students and if you don't work hard then the recruiters would not have reasons to select you.

Post Graduate Program in Advanced Construction Management is a course specifically designed for civil engineers and architects. Both technical studies and management studies are combined to create this course. This is the finest course to take if you want to study construction management. The course's scope is wider, which means you can pursue numerous career profiles such as site execution and control, planning, health, safety, and the environment, valuation and estimating, and so on.

The course is multi-disciplinary combining aspects of civil engineering, general management, and construction project management.

The duration of the course is 21 months, having 7 trimesters of 3 months each. The 4th trimester is kept for summer internship and exams are held every 3 months.

The eligibility for the course is having a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture with a minimum of 50% degree.

The admission consists of 4 steps:

  • NICMAR Common Admission Test: 150 marks
  • GD: 20 marks
  • Personal Interview: 30 marks
  • Rating of Application: 50 marks

There is an admission for sponsored category too. First, you need to go through the admission test and pay 50% fees higher than the tuition fees. However, sponsored students are not provided with any placement assistance.

The institute assures 100% placement assistance but the compensation depends on your performance.

Overall the course is good but still, I would suggest you first go for 2 years experience in the field and then go for the course.

One of my friends had recently joined NICMAR and here are some things he suggested that might help you with your question.

  • It would be highly recommended to take the Distance Course if the aspiring candidate is very serious about pursuing this course.
  • The degree is not much worth the cost that one is paying.
  • Most of the prior experienced candidates got job offers with lesser salaries than they were getting before.
  • The average CTC offered is around INR 6 LPA wherein you do not have much choice with the company that you can get placed anywhere else.

Thus, it is important to take suggestions from students who have recently passed out or are currently graduating and then make the decision.

PGDM Quantity Survey & Contract Management, National Institute of Construction Management and Research (2018)

I have a few friends who graduated from NICMAR Pune. Here is a brief breakdown of the cost of studying at NIMAR based on the information I got from my friends.

  • Tuition Fee: For 2 years of PG course the tuition fee will be around 10.59 lakhs.
  • Hostel Fee: Hostel accommodation will cost around 10,000. You will have to stay in the hostel for 18 months so the total cost for hostel accommodation will be around 1.80 lakhs.
  • Other Expenses: You will need around 5,000 per month for your other expenses. This will sum up to 1.05 lakhs over 2 years.
  • Travel Expenses: If you are not from Maharashtra, you will go home and back 4-5 times a year. It will cost around 1 lakh over two years.

This should give you an estimate of the costs.
