It is difficult to score a distinction at University of Pune. Students need to score more than 66%, in order to get a distinction. In the university examination, students score around 60% of the total marks at max. You need to score more than 70% in your practical and internals to maintain an overall 66%.
Though difficult, getting distinction isn’t impossible. Complete your syllabus thoroughly and solve previous years' questions. To get distinction marks, you need to work on your presentation skills too. Try to improve your handwriting.
One of my friends graduated from Pune University and according to him, it is quite difficult but not impossible.
Pune University courses are one of the most difficult to score in across India due to their Exam Patterns and Syllabus. For a 6 marks question, you can score a maximum of 4 marks even if you have included all the points required.
Along with the expected points in the answer to your presentation, the length of the answer and the mood of the professor also matters a lot to score well.
The maximum number of marks that you will score for a question is around 60% of the total marks for that question.
So considering this you can score 60% (First Class) in your test (theory exam) if you attempt all questions correctly. This in itself is very difficult, as you have to be thorough with your entire syllabus i.e. 6 subjects. There are 6 units per subject. A daunting task to be accomplished in a semester.
And if you want to score a Distinction (>66%) then you will have to score above 70% in your practicals and your internals that depend on your professors.
Basically even after digging up all your semester books and presenting all your answers perfectly the chances of getting a distinction are low.
Also, this situation that the Pune University students score less compared to other university's students is known to all big Organizations, that is why they have lower placement criteria for PU students.
