What is the problem with Savitribai Phule Pune University?
Here are some of the problems that students of Savitribai Phule Pune University students usually complain about.
- The course curriculum followed by SPPU is outdated. There is less focus on practicals.
- Academics aren’t systematic. Basic amenities like a proper academic calendar aren’t provided.
- The university also reschedules examinations and results often.
There are also some issues with the admission system.

The biggest problem with SPPU is with its admission process for PG programs. If you have done your graduation from SPPU affiliated college then 50% marks of UG will be added to 50% marks of entrance test for calculating the merit. But if you have done your Graduation from any other university then whole entrance test marks will be considered.
There is a two layered reservation system followed by SPPU:
- One for those who are domiciles of Maharashtra and have done their graduation from SPPU affiliated college.
- For those who have completed their graduation from SPPU affiliated college but are a non-domicile of Maharashtra.
With this, only a limited number of seats are available for admission. On top of this, 3 seats are reserved for Defence quota.
Now , if you are not a resident and come under Defence quota then you will be given a seat out of the handful of seats from All India Quota. Results are released separately for each category.
It definitely has a confusing system of reservation, however, it is done to ensure that candidates from all sections are given equal opportunity.
