NIT Surathkal Placements 2022: Average Package: INR 21.4 LPA & Highest Package: INR 45 LPA
National Institute of Technology (NIT), Surathkal ranked 33rd in NIRF 2020's overall rankings. The institute is conducting its placement drive for the batch 2022 and a total of 86.1% of students were placed. In B.Tech alone 96.9% students were placed. A total of 1385 out of 1608 students were placed. The highest CTC of INR 45 LPA was offered.
In terms of placements, the institute has begun its 2021 drive. As of now, 85% of UG and 57% of PG students have been placed.
In the on-going placement drive at the NIT Surathkal, 907 students have already been placed. A start-up offered the highest CTC package of INR 51.5 LPA. The average CTC was INR 21.4 LPA.

- CSE : The placements for the CSE branch are the best in NIT Warangal as well as Trichy and Surathkal. Students are placed in huge software giants like Microsoft, D.E.Shaw, Adobe, Directi, Tower Research Capital, Cisco, IBM, and some Investment Bankers like Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley, etc The average package of CSE recorded this year was INR 30.8 LPA for BTech while INR 30.43 LPA for MTech.
- ECE - The companies coming on the first day of placements are Qualcomm, Broadcom, Nvidia, SanDisk India, Redpine Signals, Samsung, and Caterpillar, etc., Software companies like Cisco, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Oracle, etc allow ECE students to sit for placements. The average package for BTech students is INR 23.6 LPA and for MTech students is around NR 20.4 LPA.
- EEE - Companies like Alstom, Reliance, and PSUs like Power Grid, IOCL, HPCL, etc., offer core profiles to EEE students. Additionally, software companies that come for ECE and CSE students also allow EEE students to sit for placements. The average package for EEE is INR 21.19 LPA for BTech students and between 11- 14.6 LPA for MTech students.
- Mechanical Engineering: Companies like Caterpillar, Michelin, Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Volvo, Larsen and T0ubro, Vizag Steel Plant(RINL), etc., recruit Mechanical Engineering students of NIT Rourkela. The average package is INR 12.4 LPA for BTech students and between 9-12 LPA for MTech students.
- Chemical Engineering: The Chemical engineering students are usually recruited by companies such as Reliance Industries, Dr.Reddy's Laboratories, Michelin tires, and some PSUs. A few even opt for Management or Consulting companies like MuSigma, Deloitte, IBM, etc., The average package is INR 14.8 LPA for BTech students and between 8-11 LPA for MTech students.
- Civil Engineering - This is one of the oldest NIT Warangal branches that has recruiters like the Sobha developers group etc., Students opt for Management or Consulting companies like MuSigma, Deloitte, and IBM. The average package for BTech students is INR 13 LPA and between 6-8 LPA for MTech students.
Overall, placements are similar in all the 3 NITs, NIT Warangal, Trichy, and Surathkal.
Which has better placements for MTech, NIT Trichy or NIT Surathkal?
NIT Surathkal has better placements for MTech. According to the recent placement highlights, the highest CTC and average CTC offered were INR 28 LPA and INR 12.25 LPA, respectively. Companies such as L&T Infotech, Standard Chartered Bank, ZS Associates, Capgemini, Tredence Analytics, Exl Service, etc. are the major recruiters that take part in NIT Surathkal placements.
How are the placements for IT in NITK surathkal?
Placements of the IT department are at par with the CSE department as it is the most sought-after branch after CSE. Many top companies give references to IT students. I have a friend who studies in the ECE branch at NIT Warangal. I will break down his overall experience into simpler aspects
Academics: The curriculum and academic life at NIT Warangal for ECE students is a bit more challenging than others. Some semesters have too many courses and it’s difficult to get free time. The grades are given a lot of importance and students face tough competition. Also, the faculty is not very approachable.
- Campus life: The campus life of students of all branches is similar. Equal opportunities and facilities are offered and students experience a productive ambiance where they can work on their passions.
- Hostels : The hostel facilities are top-notch and both old and new hostels are available. Students get a home-like feel in these cozy buildings and make friends for life.
- Mess food: Mess food is better than food served in intermediate hostels. However, students can opt for eating out if the food in the mess is unsatisfactory. The eateries outside serve decent food at low prices.
- Sports : The sports culture here is not very prominent and you won’t be forced to be involved in any such activities.
- Extracurricular : A number of clubs promote extracurriculars with ECEA being the most active association.
