IIITM Gwalior is a Govt university. The institute needs to work on the management and administration process to improve its ranking. Being a private deemed university, IIIT Hyderabad has complete autonomy and least bureaucracy. It is a research-oriented institute and often modifies the teaching methodology according to real-time industry problems.
One of the major factors that contribute to the higher ranking of IIIT Hyderabad is its coding culture. Students of the university dominate all major competitive coding forums. IIITM Gwalior has a good coding culture too, but it ranks below IIIT H.
IIITM G teaches topics such as AI and ML. But these courses aren’t taught well. This might be the case for IIIT H as well.
The most prominent difference is that IIIT H is a private institution and IITM G is a government institution that is autonomously working under the aegis of MHRD. As for the syllabus, AL and ML are offered as well. Although the problem occurs with respect to its pedagogic facilitation because the faculty is not well versed with the latest technologies which have to be incorporated into the syllabus. The MOOCs are not good either.
You can also join online classes at Harvard or Stanford, which is much better than what is taught at the aforementioned institutions, however the final decision rests in your hands.
