How much does an Indian software engineer earn in the US? What is the scope of an MCA from JNU/NIT in the US?

SJ
Sekhar Juneja Posted On : May 4th, 2022
lives in Hyderabad, Telangana, India

In US, Indian software engineers earn around $60k-$80k in entry-level jobs. After 3-5 years of work experience, the salary amount becomes $90k-$130k. For software engineering professionals with around 5-10 years of experience, the salary package is around $130-$200k.

Jobs in the Software industry have little to do with the university you graduated from. The international recruiters look for skills. If you have industry-relevant skills, you will receive good placement opportunities. After doing an MCA you can get jobs in US, if you fulfill the skill requirement.

Preparing for an interview can be a hefty task if not done in the right way without the right set of knowledge. So here I am with a few tips that will upscale your interview preparation

  • Identify your unique skills and USP. Present a logical stance as to why you are a better candidate than others and can contribute to classroom learning.
  • Present a passionate claim of how Finance is your go-to specialization and how you are most suited for it.
  • You should have made attempts to understand Finance in the past through online courses or interaction with people in the industry
  • Get important knowledge about the industry and its key persons
  • Answer the Why MBA part genuinely and don’t sugarcoat or bluff
  • Present both your short-term and long-term goals after completing your MBA and make sure they are realistic
  • Try to listen to others' opinions too during the interview
  • Support your claims with plausible examples or life experiences to create more impact
  • Approach the answers wisely
  • Respect all the other members and give everyone a chance to speak

Lastly, don't let your anxiety get the better of you.

Which is better: software engineering at DTU or ECE at NSIT?

AB
Akash Bhatt Posted On : February 2nd, 2021
Studied at Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, 2018

The answer to this question depends on the interests. It totally depends on the field of interest of the student.

  •  If one is interested in software and development and using devices such as laptops or mobile phones, then one can choose Software engineering at Delhi Technological University (DTU).
  • If one is interested in the hardware part, then he/she should opt for ECE at NSIT.
  •  After all if one is still confused to make a decision for either of the streams, then only the candidate should apply for Software Engineering at DTU.

If there is still a confusion about DTU for software Engineering and ECE at NSIT they can look at the college placements for that particular course.

Placements of Software Engineering at DTU and Communications engineering at NSIT:

Name of the College

Delhi Technological University (DTU)

Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT)

Highest package offered

1.08 crores per annum

INR 56 Lakhs per Annum

Average package recorded

13 Lakhs per annum

INR 10 Lakhs per Annum

Top recruiting companies

Google, Microsoft, amazon, adobe etc.

Google, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Amazon, Arcesium and Adobe

Therefore, according to the placement averages and top companies that visit the college, Software engineering from Delhi technical university seems like a viable option. There is a wide wage gap that we can see in the tables mentioned above. Also, most of my batch mates also feels that software engineering in DTU is a better option as compared to ECE in NSIT.
