Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) imparts MD program across 19 specializations for a duration of 3 years 

• The areas specialized under the program are Anaesthesiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Dermatology, Venereology & Leprology, Emergency Medicine, Forensic Medicine, General Medicine, Immuno Hematology & Blood Transfusion, Micro Biology, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, Pediatrics, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychiatry, Pulmonary Medicine, Radio-Diagnosis and Radio Oncology.
• The minimum eligibility to apply for the course is that the Candidates must have an MBBS or equivalent degree recognized by the Medical Council of India.

• However, the candidates will be further selected based on the performance in JIPMER PG Entrance Exam

JIPMER MD Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be qualified with the following:

• Candidates must possess an MBBS or equivalent degree recognized by the Medical Council of India.
• Applicant must be an Indian National (IN) or Overseas Citizens of India(OCI) or Foreign Nationals.
• Candidates must have attended a compulsory rotating internship over a period of 12 months.
• Minimum qualifying marks for the General category is 55% of the aggregate marks whereas it is reduced to 50% for SC/ST candidates.

JIPMER MD Admission Guidelines

The institute conducts the JIPMER PG exam for admission to its PG courses. Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the Entrance exam.

The exam pattern comprises a 3-hour long computer-based test having 250 MCQs of 4 marks each with a negative marking of 1 mark for incorrect answers.

JIPMER MD Course Details

Doctor of Medicine (MD) ensures that the Candidates acquire knowledge, basic skills, and attitudes in the subject to become a specialist in the chosen branch. 

• The curriculum involves three main components that are Knowledge to be learned, skills to be learned and the Attitude to be developed.
• Examinations will be held at the end of three academic years for the students.
• Marks evaluation is done as 50% for the theory and 50% for the practicals.
• All the students must pass in all the subjects to obtain a degree.
• MD course consists of Theory, Thesis, Practical and Oral examinations.
• Every Candidate shall work out an assigned project which will be written up and submitted in the form of a thesis.
