Assam University is a central university with ‘Grade B’ accreditation from NAAC and approval from UGC. The university has 39 Academic departments and 6 Interdisciplinary Centres including the School of Technology. There are nearly 25,000 students in the affiliated and permitted colleges in the five districts. Assam University Application Process 2023

Assam University, Silchar conducts entrance examinations to shortlist eligible students. For a few courses qualifying scores obtained in the national level are also accepted by the university. The university offers an application process in online mode. To get done the procedure students should follow the below steps:

Visit the official website of the university.
Register by filling in the personal details then upload a scanned passport size photograph.
After registration, fill the application form with asked details.
The application fee should be paid with INR 500 (INR 300 for SC/ ST/ and PwD).
Click on the “Submit” button to finally submit the application form.
After submission of the application form, an acceptance message will be sent to the registered email id.
Candidates can apply for a maximum of two courses only and a separate application has to be submitted for each course.

Assam University Placement

A career counseling & placement cell is provided by Assam University. The cell’s activities include the organization of workshops and lectures by corporate professionals and placement consultants and the preparation of students’ resumes / bio-data / curriculum vitae and placement brochures. The Placement Cells in the various departments of the University are currently engaged in developing a detailed Employer’s Database that would help the students to trace out employment opportunities in India and abroad. The average CTC was offered at INR 8 LPA & the highest was offered at INR 26 LPA. There are recruiters who offers internships too with a good stipend value. Assam University Facilities

Library: Assam University has a central library with a collection of books over 1,27,000. It has also subscriptions to more than 1,100 print plus online journals. Moreover, the facility of more than 10,000 Electronic resources is also available through e-Shodh Sindhu (INFLIBNET), DELNET, & DELCON consortia which can be accessed all over the campus. The library provides all academic library services in an automated environment with the help of Koha Integrated Library Management Software (ILMS). It has a reading room facility with a sitting capacity of 200 and an Internet access lab with 20 nodes.
Games & Sports: Every year an Annual Social Meet is organized in the University where along with cultural activities, indoor and outdoor sports are held. The University is currently a member of the Interuniversity Sports Board of India and its teams participate in Zonal and All-India University Tournaments bringing laurels and prizes and medals for the University. The Central Sports-complex which is in the process of coming up is expected to give a major boost to games and sports and to other extra-curricular activities of the students in Assam University.
Hostel: There are at present nine hostels four for boys and five for girls students on the University campus. The hostels are furnished with basic facilities. Hostel seats are limited and every student may not get a seat in the hostel. Availability of seats depends upon the vacancy in the hostel. Ans. The Central Instrumentation Laboratory (CIL) was established in the year 2009 under the Albert Einstein School of Physical Sciences, Assam University, Silchar as a new center. The Center offers one year (two-semester) PG Diploma course in Analytical Instrumentation and its Applications. The Center is equipped with state of art facilities such as 400 MHz FT-NMR, FT-IR, HPLC, GC-MS, AAS, and LCR Meter along with associated accessories.

What Students Say?

The course curriculum was fairly updated and provided all the required knowledge for the subjects I opted for.
Students can apply for internships and many opportunities are provided here. Additionally, there are many online modes through which one can obtain internships.
I received 6000 rupees as stipend for each two-week internship, which was great.
The Assam University itself gives scholarships, and scholars also receive scholarships from politicians.
Campus life is quite good; the gender ratio and college diversity are also good.
The meal quality is also good; they have the menu based on which they serve the food.
The university has all the facilities that any good university should have: good faculty, excellent infrastructure, etc.

Dislike

In the law department, the placement rate is 100 percent, while in the rest of the departments, it ranges from 60 to 70 percent. Due to the underdeveloped location of the University, we receive less response from industries.
College management is not good, and to conclude, the faculty is also not good in this college. Therefore, it is difficult for students to complete courses.
