IPU PhD admission 2023 is ongoing. Admission to all PhD programs is based on the PhD Entrance Test (PET), conducted by the university. Those students, who have qualified for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and other similar National Level Tests shall be exempted from the entrance test. IPU PhD Admission Criteria
Admission to PhD at IPU is conducted through PhD Entrance Test (PET), conducted by the university. Applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of PET scores and academic qualifications. Shortlisted candidates will then be called for a personal intervie/viva-voce, conducted by the respective department. Those students, who have qualified for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and other similar National Level Tests shall be exempted from the entrance test. Such candidates can directly appear for the interview round.
The written entrance test shall be qualifying for admission to the Ph. D. programme with 50% of total marks as qualifying cut off for general category. For SC/ST/ PWD/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS category the qualifying cut off shall be 45% of total marks. The syllabus of the written entrance test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% subject specific.
IPU PhD Application Process
- To fill the application form candidates need to visit the official website of IPU – ipu.ac.in
- The candidate should choose the “Exam Category” as “Ph.D.” in the online application form
- Enter relevant details and upload a recent clear photograph of size as mentioned with his or her scanned signature and left thumb impression
- Relevant course for Ph.D. Entrance Test PET should be chosen and payment of requisite application fee as notified by the Examination branch must be made online
- Pay the application fee of INR 1200 through Credit/Debit card, Net Banking, UPI, etc.
- Submit the application form and take a printout for future reference

- Photocopy of mark sheet of secondary/ HSB or other University examination.
- A Photocopy of attested 1st page of SSLC/ SSC/ Matriculation certificate.

IPU Ph.D. Course Details
The syllabus of the program varies according to the type of specialization one is pursuing. The syllabus of the various programs is divided into parts :
- Research methodology – It involves the application of various skills & knowledge for quantitative & qualitative measurement tools. It includes 50% of the syllabus.
- Subject-specific knowledge – The rest 50 % of the syllabus consists of the subject-specific study material according to the specialization selected i.e. for subject-specific knowledge for Ph.D. in Maths would consist of topics like Linear algebra, functional analysis, probability, statistics, etc.
