IGNOU PG Diploma Food Safety and Quality Management: Fees 2025, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

IGNOU PGDFSQM admission 2024 for the January session has been started from December 15, 2023. The last date to apply is January 31, 2024 (Tentative). IGNOU offers a PG Diploma course on Food safety and quality management as food safety is a fundamental health concern. Food Safety and Quality has become areas of priority and necessity for consumers, retailers, producers and regulators. The Programme which is the first initiative in India has been developed in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). IGNOU PGDFSQM Admission Dates

IGNOU PGDFSQM Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be qualified with the following criteria:

• Graduation/ Post Graduation in Science with Chemistry/ Biochemistry or Microbiology as one of the subjects.
• Degree/ Post Graduation Degree in allied sciences like Agriculture/ Food Science/ Food Technology/ Post Harvest technology/ Engineering/ Home Science/ Life Science/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Horticulture/ Dairy Technology/ Veterinary/ Fisheries/ Hotel Management and Catering/ Hospitality Management etc.
• Science Graduates in disciplines like Geography, Statistics with Physics & Math, Art Subjects and Medical Lab Technology and with minimum 3 years experience in food processing and / or quality control. These students should have minimum 1 year experience in quality control activities.
• Art/ Commerce Graduates with diploma in food science/ Hotel Management disciplines viz. fruits and vegetables, Dairy Technology, Meat Technology, Cereal, Pulses and Oilseeds etc. with minimum 5 years experience in Food Processing/ Food Quality Control/ Hotel Management (food preparation/ food catering) and out of which 2 years experience should be in quality control activities. This shall provide vertical mobility to diploma holders.
• B.A./ B.Com Graduates with minimum of 7 years experience in Food Processing/ Food Quality Control/ Hotel Management (food preparation/ food catering) or holding senior positions in Government/ Semi Government Units involved in Food Quality Control.
• A Master's Degree awarded without a first degree is not recognized for purposes of admission to IGNOU’s Academic Programmes.

IGNOU PGDFSQM Admission Criteria

• Candidates can need to apply and submit through online mode.
• Students are advised to download the prospectus & regarding the instructions carefully before filling the IGNOU courses.
• Visit the official website of the University @ www.ignou.ac.in.
• Students need to create a username & a different password for the portal.
• Then students need to enter their email and phone number. Candidate will get a confirmation SMS on his/her registered Mobile number regarding this.
• Then fill the application form.
• Thereafter, candidates have to upload the scanned copies of the required documents which are mentioned in the application form.
• After that, Candidates have to pay the application fee of INR 100/- by the following methods
• Debit Card (Master/Rupay/Visa)
• Credit Card (Master/ Visa)
• Net Banking (Master/Rupay/Visa)
• Then, you need to Submit after the payment.
• Students can edit the details on the registration form or admission form. There is an option IGNOU Re-registration that is provided by the university for the correction purposes.

IGNOU PGDFSQM Assignments

Assignments constitute continuous evaluation. The marks that you secure in the assignments will be counted in your final result. As mentioned earlier, an assignment of a course carries 30% weightage. You are therefore advised to take your assignment seriously. 

Non Submission of Assignment

The TMA for each semester can be downloaded from the Student Zone of the University website. You have to complete the assignment within the due dates specified in the assignment booklet. You will not be allowed to appear for the term-end examination for any course if you do not submit the assignment in time for that course. If you appear in the term-end examination, without submitting the assignments, the result of the term-end examination is liable to be canceled.
