Master of Law (LLM) in Intellectual Property and Trade Law is a specialized postgraduate degree course which deals with the concepts of law and order in terms of intellectual property and trade. Basic eligibility to take admission in this course is LLB degree with 50% marks from any recognized university. Only one institute, all over India, offers the course of LLM in Intellectual Property and Trade Law and that is School of Law, Christ University, Bangalore. The course fee is 1.10 lakhs for Karnataka students and 1.20 lakhs for other state students. Admission to this course is done through entrance test conducted by Christ University.
The course is the perfect platform for a student to gain an in depth knowledge about the governance and legal subjects. The course is comprised of various levels where a student is made aware of the basics of research methods and legal writing on one level, and is introduced to the international trade laws on the other, while simultaneously learns about the concepts of globalization and various laws related to e-commerce, copyright, patent and designs and trademarks.
Candidates having this degree can find employment in law firms or in legal departments of various organizations. They can also practice as a private lawyer. The average salary one can earn after this degree is 4 to 6 lakhs per annum.
Any candidate who wishes to have a legal career in the field of intellectual property law and trade law are suitable for the course. The main aim of the course is to bring two specializations under one roof and compressed in a one year degree course. Intellectual property law deals with the legal aspects of trademark acquisition, the patent rights and also the copyrighting, however, on the other hand, the trade law deals with the concepts related to e-commerce, the world trade organization and law and policy related to the trade and investment from an Indian perspective.

It is one year duration postgraduate degree program with a course structure divided in two semesters.

Academic Requirement:
A candidate who has passed LLB (3 or 5-year courses) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from any recognized University in India or abroad recognized by UGC / AIU is eligible to apply. (Applicants who are in the final year of their studies should have secured 50% or above aggregate in all the Semesters / Years of Undergraduate Examinations conducted so far) Students appearing for their final degree examinations in March-May 2019 are also eligible to apply.
