The PSGR Krishnammal College for Women was founded by Sri. G. R. Govindarajulu and Smt. G. Chandrakanthi. The then Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Sri. Bakthavatchalam inaugurated the college with an objective to meet the higher education needs of women. An autonomous institute, the college has received ISO 9001:2008 certification. The vision of the college is to offer sound education for molding the future generation of women. The college adheres to the principles of truth and values.

1. Experienced and Dedicated Faculty – With a team of 95 teaching members in the aided college and 125 in the self-financing stream, the college boasts of a staff that helps groom the future of the students. Teachers update their subject knowledge continually by attending refresher courses and orientation programs. They even participate in several workshops and seminars to update their teaching skills.
2. Wide Range of Activities – The College has a counseling cell wherein students can discuss their personal or financial problems with coaches who guides them to the right solution. The Entrepreneurship Development Cell at the college offers professional training to promote several initiatives. The college even has a Parent-teacher association for facilitating interaction for the betterment of women students.
3. Encouraging women empowerment: Besides academics, the college focuses on the all-around development of women students and empowers them with decision-making and entrepreneurial skills.
