About Lady Irwin College

Lady Irwin College is a women’s college, affiliated to Delhi University and approved by UGC. It provides courses in Home Science under UG and PG curriculums. Also, few doctoral programmes are offered under 5 departments of Home Science. Other programmes of the college include a Postgraduate Diploma and a B.Ed course. The admission to both UG and PG courses is carried out on the basis of the candidate’s performance in CUET. After qualifying in the entrance exam, candidates have to appear in the centralized DU CSAS process for seat allocation.

All the academic programmes and extracurricular activities offered in Lady Irwin College are planned diligently to provide a holistic development of all the women students. It will help them, in the long run, to become competent entrepreneurs and acquire professional skills thus, enhancing the quality of life.

Lady Irwin College was founded in 1932 as a constituent college for women in the University of Delhi. The college has NAAC Grade ‘A+’ accreditation and has been ranked 22nd in the National level by NIRF 2023. The faculty team of the college uses scholastic approaches and course structures to maintain high standards of education. The college offers an internationally competitive curriculum to promote talent and foster creativity among students.

Several basic facilities are provided by Lady Irwin College for the betterment of students, like, hostel accommodation, library, sports, horticulture project, computer resource center, canteen, medical helpdesk and lot more. The college also provides several scholarship facilities in various departments. The placement cell provides training and skills development sessions to guide the students about internship programs and placement. The aspirants get opportunities in the Education departments. Lady Irwin College Admission Process

Lady Irwin College

Lady Irwin College admission to the UG and PG courses is based on scores obtained in the CUET examination. And the admission to the certificate and PG diploma courses is carried out on the basis of merit in the last qualifying exam. The Lady Irwin College admission process includes appearing for the CUET examination and then appearing in the CSAS seat allotment. Registrations for admission at the college start after CUET result declarations. Candidates must select Delhi University while filling out the CUET application can register themselves on the DU CSAS portal and choose their college and course preferences. The entire selection process is carried out via the DU CSAS portal for both UG and PG courses in multiple rounds. The detailed Lady Irwin College admission process is as follows:

Step 1: Appear for the Entrance Examination

Step 2: Registration on DU CSAS Portal and Filling of Courses and College Preferences

Candidates who qualify the entrance examination must register on the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) Portal of Delhi University for the seat allotment. Once the registration is done, candidates will be asked to fill college and course preferences. 

Step 3: Seat Allocation

The seat allocation will be done in multiple rounds for all programs. Seats are allocated based on scores obtained in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) or other national-level tests, combination of college and program chosen, category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR) of the candidate, and availability of seats. 

Step 4: Blocking of Seats and Final Admission

Candidates can check the seat allotment result by logging into Delhi University’s Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) dashboard. Upon acceptance of seat, the Lady Irwin College will check eligibility, verify documents, and confirm admission after receiving the admission fees.

  • Library: The college library is well stocked with all kinds of books. It provides a huge collection of books, journals, and other research papers. The current collection includes 57,000 approximately, as well as 200 online documents, 91 subscriptions of the journal both international and national. The library also has 8000 periodicals, and a 2750+ collection of research works including Thesis and Dissertations.
  • Sports: The college has a sports society which conducts and arranges different sports events in swimming, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, judo, yoga, athletics, and handball throughout an academic year.
