About Lady Irwin College

Lady Irwin College is a women’s college, affiliated to Delhi University and approved by UGC. It provides courses in Home Science under UG and PG curriculums. Also, few doctoral programmes are offered under 5 departments of Home Science. Other programmes of the college include a Postgraduate Diploma and a B.Ed course.

Admission to UG courses is based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) followed by e-counseling. Candidates seeking admission to PG courses are required to appear for the CUET PG.

All the academic programmes and extracurricular activities offered in Lady Irwin College are planned diligently to provide a holistic development of all the women students. It will help them, in the long run, to become competent entrepreneurs and acquire professional skills thus, enhancing the quality of life.

Lady Irwin College was founded in 1932 as a constituent college for women in the University of Delhi. The college has NAAC Grade ‘A+’ accreditation and has been ranked 22^nd in the National level by NIRF 2023. The faculty team of the college uses scholastic approaches and course structures to maintain high standards of education. The college offers an internationally competitive curriculum to promote talent and foster creativity among students.

Several basic facilities are provided by Lady Irwin College for the betterment of students, like, hostel accomodation, library, sports, horticulture project, computer resource center, canteen, medical helpdesk and lot more. The college also provides several scholarship facilities in various departments. The placement cell provides training and skills development sessions to guide the students about internship programs and placement. The aspirants get opportunities in the Education departments. Almost 25-30 schools participate in the placement drives and hire the aspirants as interns. The college has a record of achieving 100% placement record in the Food Technology department. Lady Irwin College Admission Process

Lady Irwin College admission process is completely online. Candidates seeking admission are required to apply online on the official website. Admission to UG courses is done on the basis of CUET scores followed by e-counseling. Candidates need to pass their 10th and 12th class with 40 percent marks in total to be eligible for UG courses provided. The program-specific eligibilities vary from course to course.

The marks obtained by the candidate in CUET will be considered for computing the total marks according to the Program-Specific combinations of subjects for deciding merit and granting admissions in the undergraduate programs. Merit will be based only on the ‘combination of subjects in which a candidate has appeared in CUET as mentioned in the respective Program-Specific Eligibility.

PG admissions are done through CUET PG. There total 75 programs for PG courses which is been provided by Delhi University. As per the DU admission policy, 50% of seats will be reserved for DU students, while admission to the 50% seats will be provided through CUET PG. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for PG courses through the CUET PG entrance exam.

Lady Irwin College Application Process

Candidates who wish to enroll for the UG courses are required to apply for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) whereas candidates who wish to apply for the PG courses are required to apply for the CUET PG.

CUET application process

Candidates applying for UG courses in Lady Irwin College can follow the following steps in order to register for the CUET:

Candidates must visit the official CUET website that is: @cuet.samarth.ac.in.
Upon opening the website candidates will find the ‘Register’ tab, they must click on it.
After reading and understanding the information provided, candidates must hit the ‘Proceed’ button.
After this, candidates will be directed to the application form. Candidates must fill in the required details carefully.
After filling the necessary details candidates will have to upload important documents such as signature, photograph, marksheet, etc. Candidates must upload all the required documents.
Candidates need to pay the application fee at the time of submitting the form or else the Online Application Form will not be considered.
After submitting the fee, candidates print out the form and save a hard copy for future references.
Candidates can login to their portals for any new updates, college cutoffs and so forth.

CUET PG Application Process

Candidates who wish to enroll for the PG application process in Lady Irwin college can follow the steps mentioned below to apply for the CUET PG examinations:

Candidates must register at PG admission portal with their email address and fill the registration form
Once the form is submitted candidates will receive a confirmation email with a verification link. Candidates must click on the link in order to verify themselves
Candidates will then be required to upload all the necessary documents such as signature, photograph, etc
Candidates must then fill the application form and select the programme that they want to apply for
After filling the application form candidates are supposed to pay the application fee
Once the fee and the application form is submitted, candidates can print a physical copy of the application form for future references

Library: The college library is well stocked with all kinds of books. It provides a huge collection of books, journals, and other research papers. The current collection includes 57,000 approximately, as well as 200 online documents, 91 subscriptions of the journal both international and national. The library also has 8000 periodicals, and a 2750+ collection of research works including Thesis and Dissertations.
Sports: The college has a sports society which conducts and arranges different sports events in swimming, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, judo, yoga, athletics, and handball throughout an academic year.
Faculty: The Faculty of the college is popular for its academic excellence, achievements, and experience in both the academic and industrial fields. 75 faculties are there in the college among which 52 members are Ph.D. holders. The Faculty team comprises of:

Others are in the process of completing their doctorates, but they are still highly competent and impressive.
Our college didnt provide the opportunity for an internship during the graduation. However, they do offer internships during the post graduation which provides numerous chances to secure a good job after graduation.
DU itself is a very good and renowned university; hence, its fame helps the students to get good placements. My aim, after completing my undergraduate degree, is to pursue post-graduation.
I dont know about the scholarship, but there are some scholarships for the sports quota and also for the AC quota. They also give scholarships to students who get good marks. These students grab good opportunities from the college.
A DJ evening is hosted by the Students Association of Lady Irwin College in October to welcome the freshers.
The hostel facility is pretty good, and the quality of the food depends on the vendor who prepares it, but overall, the food is edible.
I chose the Delhi University because it is a prestigious university, and Lady Irwin College is the best for home science in Asia.

Dislike

Internships were provided to everyone at the end of the semester, but there have been no placement meetings in my session.
This course is not very well known in India, so it is difficult to get a very lavish job where one can earn in laths. Sometimes, a few teachers can be very difficult to handle.

I didn't take any entrance exams as the admissions are merit-based. So in merit-based, you don't have to give any exam, you just have to score better in your 12th class so that you can take admission if the cut-off matches your percentage.
