VISTAS Chennai Ph.D: Fees 2025, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

VELS University, Chennai offers admission in Ph.D with 23 specializations in it. Admission will be based on the entrance examination and interview conducted by the university.

Masters degree holder in a relevant subject will be eligible for the entrance examination and admission. Priority will be given to the UGC-NET(including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE qualified candidates.

VELS University Ph.D Eligibility Criteria

1.  Master's degree in relevant subject from a recognized university.
2. At least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale should be secured in the qualifying examination. 
3. A relaxation of 10% of marks, from 55% to 45%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled.

Selection for Ph.D will be based on the entrance examination and interview conducted by the university.

• Initial merit list will be uploaded by the university according to the performance in written exam.
• Selected candidates will be invited for interview 
• The interview/viva voce will also consider the following aspects:
  • The candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research
  • The research work can be suitably undertaken at the institution/college
  • The proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge.
• Priority will be given to qualified UGC-NET(including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder or M.Phil Degree.
