NIT Agartala PhD Admission 2023: Dates, Eligibility, Selection Criteria, Syllabus, Fees

NIT Agartala PhD Applications are expected to start soon. In order to be eligible, the candidates must hold a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum score of 65% marks. Applications for the same can be made online. The shortlisted candidates shall be required to appear for a written test and interview.

NIT Agartala PhD Eligibility Criteria

Engineering Departments

Candidates seeking admission to PhD programme in Engineering Departments must satisfy any of the following eligibility criteria:

1. He/ She must hold a Master's Degree in Engineering/ Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 point grading system or equivalent 65% of marks (CGPA x 10). Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates.
2. He/ She must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/ Technology from a centrally funded Technical Institute with an excellent academic record and with a CGPA of at least 9.0 out of 10 point grading system or equivalent 90% of marks (CGPA x 10). Candidates must have a valid GATE score tenable for the year of admission.
3. He/ She must hold a Master's Degree in relevant science discipline with a good academic record and exceptional merit with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 point grading system or more or at least 65% of marks (CGPA x 10). Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates.

Science Department

Candidates seeking admission to PhD programme in Science Department must satisfy any of the following eligibility criteria:

1. He/ She must hold a Master's degree in Sciences with a good academic record and with a minimum score of 65% marks (or equivalent or 6.5 CGPA in a 10 point grading system) or 60% of marks (6.0 CGPA out of 10 point grading system) (CGPA x 10) with a GATE score or UGC/CSIR – NET/ NBHM tenable for the year of admission. Preference will be given to GATE/ NET qualified candidates.
2. He/ She must hold a Master's degree in Engineering/ Technology or equivalent with a good academic record with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 point grading system or equivalent or 65% of marks (CGPA x 10). Preference will be GATE qualified candidates.
3. He/ She must hold a B.Tech/ B.E degree from a centrally funded technical institute in India with a minimum CGPA of 9.0 in a 10.0 point scale or equivalent of 90%o (CGPA x 10) of marks with a valid GATE score.

Department of Management, Humanities & Social Sciences

Humanities & Social Sciences

Scholars for admission to the PhD program in Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) must have a Masters degree in relevant discipline with a minimum score of 65% marks or equivalent or 6.5 CGPA in a 10 point grading system or 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA out of 10 (CGPA x 10) with a UGC/CSIR-NET/NBHM tenable for the year of admission. The relevant discipline of research will be English / Economics / Rural Management & Development. Preference will be given to NET qualified candidates.

Management

He/ She must hold a MBA/P.G. Diploma in Management of 2-year duration with 65%marks or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale (CGPA x 10). Preference will be given to GATE / NET qualified candidates.

NIT Agartala PhD Admission Guidelines

The selection shall be done on the basis of performance of the candidates in the written test and interview and availability of seats.

How to Apply?

Candidates must follow the following steps in order to apply for PhD at National Institute of Technology, Agartala:

• Candidates must visit the official website and apply online at https://mis.nita.ac.in/PHD.
• Since the portal is compatible to Mozilla Firefox, candidates are advised to use Mozilla Firefox browser only.
• The candidate is supposed to register separately for each programme he wants to apply to. Separate application fee must be paid for each registration.
• After registration, the candidate shall be sent an Application ID with Password through the email id provided by him.
• Applicants must login to the Admission Portal for form filling using the login credentials.
• Next, the application fees must be paid by online payment portal. After completion and submission of online form, the filled in form shall be generated in PDF format.
• On the day of the written test and interview, the shortlisted candidates must bring a printed copy of the online filled in form along with the original and photocopies of the necessary documents.

Documents Required:

1. Scanned copy of Class 10 certificate (as Name and Age proof) and scanned copy of Last Qualifying Degree Mark-sheet (as eligibility proof) and Caste Certificate (if applicable) should be uploaded on the portal.
2. Sponsorship and No Objection certificate in prescribed format must be submitted by the sponsored and part time candidates at the time of admission.
3. On the day of interview and written test, the shortlisted candidates should bring a printed copy of the on-line filled-in form along with all the original of the necessary documents ( to support all educational qualification, date of birth, category, GATE/ NET score if any etc.) and a set of photocopy of all such documents, duly self attested.

NIT Agartala PhD Fee Structure

1st Semester fee for Hostel - Rs. 32,200/-

2nd semester to last Semester fee for Hostel - Rs. 27,000/- per semester

The hostel fee is to be deposited in the form of demand draft to be drawn in favour of "CHIEF WARDEN", NIT Agartala Hostel, Payable at Agartala.
