IIM Calcutta PhD Fees & Eligibility
IIM Calcutta from PhD students charges no tuition fees. Rather all students are offered financial stipend support for covering academic and living expenses.
IIM Calcutta PhD Eligibility:
- Candidates must have first Class in 2 Year PG Diploma or Master’s in any stream and passed three-year bachelor's degree with minimum 50% aggregate marks
- Or, CA qualification with a minimum of 50% marks or CMA/CS with 55% marks along with a B.Com degree
- Or, B.tech/B.E (4 Years) degree with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or equivalent mark
- Non-engineering candidates with 10+2+5 years pattern academic qualification are considered eligible for PhD admission.
- CMA (USA) qualified candidates are eligible for PhD admission.
- It is also required to have a minimum 50% mark in either class X or XII examination.
- Final year students in Master’s or Bachelors degree can apply for the courses.
- However, if selected, candidates need to submit the final year degree mark sheet within December 31, 2021. Admission will remain provisional until submission of the marksheet.

The validity of test scores other than CAT 2023 is considered valid if conducted within two year from the date of entrance till the last date of submitting an application.

IIM Calcutta PhD Program Details
IIM Calcutta PhD course offers 11 specialisation options to the students. In the first two academic years, there are 6 terms and 90 compulsory credits. The academic group is based on the chosen specialisation of the students.
- In first year, there total 15 compulsory credits including 2 compulsory research method credits and 1 compulsory non-credit course in Qualifying Mathematics.
- In the second year, there are 8 major area courses, minimum 3 doctoral courses with 3 credits, and 2 compulsory doctoral-level course-related research methods.
- By the end of second year, students need to take two term papers including one paper in a major area.
- At the end of summer vacation, students need to conduct research work or a project which is equivalent to 2 credits.
- The qualifying marks need to be secured by the students by the end of second year is 6.0 CGPA and 5.5 CGPA in first year.
- After completion of coursework, CQE is conducted in the respective academic group.
- After successful completion of CQE, students are allowed to start with thesis work and dissertation.
