Rabindra Bharati University welcomes online applications for admission in PhD. The program is offered in 3 departments Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, and Faculty of Visual Arts for 2023 as per University Grants Commission regulations. Students who have passed their Master’s degree with 55% marks in the relevant field or its equivalent grade from UGC are eligible to apply for PhD programs. Admission is provided based on a Written Test followed by an interview. The candidates must score at least 40% marks in the written test and 45% marks in the interview. Students can obtain the application forms on payment of INR 300.

RBU Kolkata PhD Highlights 

  • Candidates who have written NET/SET/GATE or Teacher Fellowship Holder or have passed the M.Phil program will be exempted from the Written Entrance Test.
  • Relaxation of 5% marks will be given to those candidates who have completed their Master’s degree prior to September 19, 1991.
  • Final admission is based on a written test of 100 marks. The duration of the written paper is 3 hours. The first paper is common for the faculties of Arts & Fine Arts which is of 50 marks and is MCQ of one mark each.  Check RBU Kolkata Admission
  • The second paper will be subject-oriented and consists of objective and short answers for 10 and 20 marks respectively followed by essay writing for 20 marks (300 words).
  • RBU charges a total course fee of INR 2,45,000 for PhD program.
  • The application will be available on the official website of RBU.

Rabindra Bharati University PhD Admission Criteria

  • Candidates have to appear for a Written Entrance Test. If qualified, the candidates have to pass the interview to confirm a seat for the course. 
  • Candidates who have written NET/SET/GATE or Teacher Fellowship Holder or have passed the M.Phil program will be exempted from the Written Entrance Test.

How to Apply? 

  • Registration is the first step to follow for admission. During the time of registration, applicants are required to enter their details, starting by providing a valid and active email id along with the mobile number. A confirmation email will be sent to the registered email id provided. SMS confirmation will be sent to your mobile number as well. Ensure you check the email as all future correspondence will be made to the email and mobile number given at the time of registration.
  • Once you log in successfully, the applicant can select the course and check the eligibility. If you are eligible, you can go ahead and fill the rest of the admission form. Upload documents like the scanned photograph and signature while you are filling the admission form.
  • After applying, the candidate will be eligible to take the printout of the filled ‘Application Form’ having the AIN (Application Identification Number) in the form. This AIN should be treated as the Unique Identification Number during the admission procedure.
  • Applications once applied cannot be canceled or altered under any circumstances. Please note that the amount paid for the admission process is not refundable.
