Master of Technology in CAD/CAM Courses, Syllabus and Salary

M. Tech in CAD (Computer Aided Design)/ CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) is a 2- year post graduate course with 4 semesters in 2 years. 3 semesters contain theoretical subjects and workshops and the last one requires research/ project work.   

CAD/CAM engineers interested in pursuing higher studies in the discipline may pursue Ph.D. in the subject upon completion of their course. They are hired in a variety of sectors such as manufacturing, education, R&D in industries, and steel plants, space research institutes, power plants, universities, among others. They are hired in capacities such as Lecturer, Design Engineer, Draft Engineer, R&D Engineer etc.

M. Tech in CAD/CAM: Admission Process

Aspiring candidates wishing to take admission to the course at any of the NITs or IITs need to score a good percentile in GATE. Merit list of candidates is prepared on the basis of marks obtained by them in GATE, and accordingly students are admitted to the course.

Entrance Exams for M. Tech in CAD/CAM

Admissions to the course in IITs or NITs are based on candidates’ performance in the nationally conducted GATE. The GATE exam consists of a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks. This exam has multiple choice questions and is a computer- based test. Some questions carry 1 mark while others carry 2 marks. Syllabus of GATE is based on the specialization which the candidate wishes to opt for in M. Tech.

Some colleges give 70% weightage to the GATE scores and 30% weightage to performance in the written test conducted by the concerned college/ university.

They also make the required changes in design as per the clients’ needs and management needs. Architectural Engineers take care of clients’ concerns regarding design, which may arise during the construction of the project 2.65 to 6.35 lakhs p.a.
Civil Engineer Technician Civil Engineer Technicians support engineers in estimating the project cost, preparing schedules and planning a given project. They also help engineers in the maintenance of buildings, roads and infrastructure. They also test the construction material and prepare sketches for the project. Before the construction of the project they visit the project sites, meet clients, management and other people related to the project for incorporating their requirements. 3.25 lakhs p.a.
