IIT Tirupati B.Tech Course Details
The 4 years B. Tech program curriculum offers mainly 3 types of the courses of which the details are mentioned below:
A general core program comprising basic sciences, engineering sciences, humanities, engineering arts, and mathematics.
- An engineering core program introducing the student to the foundation of engineering in his/her branch;
- An elective program enabling the students to take up a group of courses of interest to him/her
- In addition, a student should satisfactorily complete the prescribed NCC/NSO/NSS program.
- The complete program will consist of 5 categories: Humanities, Basic Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Professional Major & Free, and distributed over eight semesters, with two semesters per year.
- The Professional Major Theory (PMT) course will commence from the third semester onwards.
- The Free Elective courses will be offered from the 5th semester onwards.
- The curriculum for any branch of the B.Tech program is designed to have a total of 164-167 credits for the award of the B.Tech degree.
- No semester shall have more than six lecture-based courses and four laboratory courses as prescribed in the curriculum carrying a maximum of 29 credits.
