Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because there are many jobs available in this course. The facilities are also ok. They help us in many ways. Their teaching methods can be improved. But it is quite ok. After every 1 and half months there is sem of 30 marks and it is quite difficult to pass.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Engineering because: It has been my passion to pursue this course. Codes are something that I actually understand. Engineering gives a brief knowledge of how to apply whatever we've learned to date. The Quality of Education is wonderful. The teachers are available 24/7 to help you whenever you need them. Teachers are willing to personally teach the students during college hours for any session or class that they miss.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had a keen interest in Computer Science and Btech is a valuable course in our country. I wanted to leverage and upskill my venture of becoming a software engineer so I decided then and only that I would be a software developer/engineer. The student ratio is this college is a huge number but in terms of placement or during placement pools there are numerous companies who are approaching our college in order to grab young talented minds of our college. Faculty is well suited for our institution because most of them hold a Ph.D. degree in their respective domain and I feel that my embrace of their teaching is propelling my mindset and my urge to become a software developer. Our faculty section is well suited for our college. There's no doubt about it. Term exams are on time. We have two term exams:- mid-term I and mid-term II. They are moderately easy to pass but the real semester exams are definitely hard to get the marks out of the teacher's grip.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This college can provide you with a good environment for studies and encourages you to learn something new. The facilities are good, this college has enough facilities to control the system of teaching and management. Many of the facilities come from a well-known university and their teaching methods are very good this college can provide audio-visual methods of studies with proper examples and the facilities are too much experienced. This college followed the proper schedule of an academic calendar of its own and the exam was tough to pass but if the student followed every class lecture then it was not tough enough.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course provides one of the best employment opportunities after the final year. Plenty of Faculty is present in the college campus. Most of The Faculty is well qualified and ex-IITians and ex-NITians. The Teaching Method is very sentient and I find it quite helpful. The term exams are not very difficult since its under MAKAUT. The checking is lenient, and passing is easy, but securing a 9 CGPA sure is tough.

What is fee structure of CSE branch in UEM Kolkata?

Pranav GangulyStudied Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science at University of Engineering and Management, Kolk

The overall fee structure in UEM Kolkata keeps changing. But, there are no major modifications to it over the last few years.

  • For the 2016-20 batches, the fee per semester was Rs. 60,000. Therefore, the total fee would be Rs. 1.2 Lakhs annual fees.
  • During admission, you will need to pay an additional admission fee of Rs. 12,000. So, the first-semester fee is Rs. 72,000 combined together, which the students need to pay before their admission to the institute.
  • There is an examination fee of Rs. 1000, which needs to be paid before semester exams. For the first semester, the exam fee is Rs. 1400.
  • UEM organizes several technical and professional workshops, and almost all of them are paid. The fee for such workshops varies from Rs. 500-1500, depending on the type and duration of the workshop. But, these are entirely optional. The management will not force you to participate.
  • Previously, the 2015-19 batches had a semester fee of Rs. 37,000, and so Rs. 74,000 annually. All other fees, i.e.-exam fees, workshop fees, etc, were the same for those batches too.

For more classified details regarding the present fee structure, you can contact the IEM/UEM group via phone calls. The numbers are available on their website.

Haldia Institute of Technology or University of Engineering and Management (UEM-Kolkata) would be the best for CSE?

Abhimunyu GhoseB.Tech from Kalyani Government Engineering College (2019)

I have a few friends at the Haldia Institute of Technology and based on what I heard from them, I will suggest you to look for other options. Having a college campus in Kolkata will be advantageous for you.

You can get IT in Techno India salt-lake main campus. If you don’t get Techno you can go for CSE in B.P. Poddar, RCC or St. Thomas, or any other college. Follow previous year trends of opening and closing ranks of the college and make a choice accordingly.

Choosing the University of Engineering and Management (UEM), Kolkata can be risky because it is newly established. Even though it is under the banner of IEM, you can’t be certain about placements. Going by the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at the institute is 4 LPA.

Which college is the best for computer science and engineering: UEM Kolkata, Heritage Institute of Technology, or CIEM?

Sudeshna KaurB.Tech from University of Engineering and Management, Jaipur (2018)

One of my close friends studied CSE at the Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata. According to her, they have a great faculty, well-maintained infrastructure, and an updated curriculum.

Heritage Institute provides better placement opportunities than UEM and CIEM Kolkata. It also offers good industrial exposure to its students through various kinds of workshops, seminars, and guest lectures.

UEM is a very new college so it cannot be compared with old institutions like Heritage or CIEM.

Categories Heritage Institute CIEM UEM
Course Fee 4.56 lakhs 3.57 lakhs 5.81 LPA
Highest CTC 25 LPA 21 LPA 12 LPA
Average CTC 12 LPA 10 LPA 8 LPA
Recruiting Companies Accenture, Cognizant, etc. Wipro, Infosys, etc. Byju’s, HCL, etc.

It is suggested that you go for Heritage Institute of Technology rather than CIEM or UEM in Kolkata. It will provide better prospects for your career.

Which is better for CSE, Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College or UEM Kolkata?

Saket T. KumarStudied at University of Mumbai (2019)

One of my cousins is studying CSE at UEM University so I can give you a scenario of UEM University.

Here are a few of the things about UEM Kolkata.

  1. The faculties of UEM Kolkata are good and they also help students.
  2. You will have all the academic exposure here as lots of conferences keep happening at UEM. The academic design of UEM is also good. But semesters are not easy, you have to study hard.
  3. UEM seniors are good. Few of them have created video games for android and built non-framework cars. UEM also started a group where students can build their own cars.

In the table below take a look at the placement scenario of both institutes.

Category B.C. Roy Engineering College UEM Kolkata
Recruiters Capgemini, TCS, Wipro, L&T, etc. TCS, Wipro, Videonetics, Deloitte, etc.
Average CTC INR 3 LPA INR 4.2 LPA
Highest CTC INR 5 LPA INR 40 LPA

UEM Kolkata is a good college if you want to learn every aspect of engineering and gain knowledge. If you want to consider other colleges, then you can go for - IEM, Heritage, Techno India, St. Thomas, Narula Institute of Technology, and B.P. Poddar.

Rekha SolankiSohini SenguptaStudied B.Tech in CSE at UEM Kolkata (2020)

In your first year, you have to study all the department subjects and plan the books accordingly. UEM Kolkata is under MAKAUT (WBUT) curriculum so it follows the given curriculum and the books accordingly. Some of the common books are as follows:

  1. Engineering Mathematics by Das & Pal Vol 1 (especially for 1st semester) and the Vol 2 (for 2nd semester)
  2. Let us C by Yashwant Kanetkar (Programming book for C)
  3. Basic Electrical and Engineering books (BEEE lab and theory for both semesters)
  4. Data Structures ( Data Science book for data management) by Reema Thareja
  5. Engineering Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics for 1st and 2nd semester respectively.
  6. Physical Chemistry books issued by the department itself.
  7. Python Language and basics

It’s better to have some other language books yourself.
