- DePaul’s writing and rhetoric graduate program is Chicago’s only master’s-level program with a singular focus on writing, rhetoric, pedagogy, and language.
- Through a solid theoretical foundation in rhetoric and discourse paired with practical training, the master’s in Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse (WRD) both make students better writers and teach them exciting new ways to think about history, craft, and politics of writing.
- With the option to concentrate on Professional & Digital Writing or Teaching Writing & Language, students will develop lifelong skills that are invaluable to a range of careers. With an MA in WRD, students can pursue professional roles such as:
- Writing for businesses, nonprofits, and tech companies
- Producing and managing digital content
- Working in an instructional design role at a university or other educational setting
- Teaching writing in a post-secondary institution

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students should have completed a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Students require a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Language Requirments:
- Proof of English proficiency may be required for international applicants, whose first language is not English.
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL to get admission to this program.
International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
