The program of study for mental health counselors consists of thirty-six (36) credits of required core courses, 12 credits of electives, and 12 credits of internship (600 hours). Practicum requirements for licensure are included in several core courses, as well as two supervision classes.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicant must have completed a bachelors degree from an accredited university
- Submit official transcripts of all previous education
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 in undergraduate study
- Three letters of recommendation including minimum one academic reference
- Submit a written statement of purpose highlighting reason for interest in the field; goals of graduate study and assessment of personal strengths
- Applicants should submit a resume including the information about employment
- Apllicants should submit a passing score in MTEL
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 79 in iBT; minimum 213 in CBT; minimum 550 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
