Albert Nguyen Review at The University Of British Columbia [UBC], Vancouver | Collegedunia

Best and Affordable!

I chose UBC because it is close to home and has a very high reputation. They are a world-class research facility as well which motivated me to accept their offer. Their campus is filled with a lot of beautiful, natural scenery as well. A lot of my friends from high school also accepted their offers to UBC which made me want to join them.

Course Curriculum :

The course curriculum is generally very well structured and I feel like I learn a lot from my professors despite the online classes due to the COVID19 pandemic. My course syllabus is fairly updated and it is relevant to the topics I am interested in learning. I was not given any industrial exposure or research experience.

Exams :

My scores: BC Provincial English 12 Exam: 71,BC Provincial English 10 Exam: 75, BC Provincial Science 10 Exam: 85, BC Provincial Math 10 Exam: 94

Placement :

They are good. They have a lot of different companies that posts jobs with UBC so there are a lot of opportunities available.

Events :

The campus life is very nice and there are a lot of students involved. The campus holds a lot of events every year which include contests and career info nights and other fun activities. There are also a lot of clubs as well for students to join. Clubs from dancing to fencing to community service are available for any students to join. We also have many large sports facilities as well as research facilities. Wifi is also available throughout campus and it is fairly stable for all students and faculty to use.

Scholarship :

High school scholarships which is $1000 and BC Excellence Scholarship which is $1250

Faculty :

The faculty-to-student ratio is about 1:50. The faculty and staff are very friendly and always care about our well beings. My biology professors Abel Rosado, Angie O'Neill, and, Trish Schulte were my favorite because they were super outgoing and caring. They definitely made me want to continue my academic path in biology.

Hostel :

I live at home so everything is free. However, transportation does cost about $150 per semester for a bus pass.
