I opted for it because their undergraduate and graduate psychology programs are in the top 10-15 and their research output is really high. Additionally, the location and potential for a Postgraduate work permit really influenced me.

Course Curriculum

9

The professors are great and make the material really engaging. The courses are always interesting, there's never been a course I've taken in psychology that I didn't like. However, it's hard to get research experience since the department is one of the biggest and most popular at UBC Vancouver. But they do try to provide as many opportunities for students.

Faculty

8

The faculty of Arts, under which my major falls, was always really approachable. Although they do get overwhelmed as the biggest faculty on campus, they do try their best.

Placement

7

I would say they're relatively high, although usually, students prefer to continue pursuing studies. There are a number of career fairs that are held over the academic year and alumni networking is facilitated via departments as well.

Accommodation

5

I opted for first-year housing and received an accommodation in Place Vanier. While the residence is one of UBC's oldest, it's really functional and had a great sense of community! It cost about 10,000CAD including food services for 8months.

Exams

I just had to submit the college application with 3 questions that they asked us.

Events

Campus life is rather vast and exciting. The campus itself is really huge and all the structures are well-maintained and cater to the needs of the students really well. There are numerous clubs that constantly host events so students are free to explore their interests extensively! They hold annual sports events, celebrate a range of festivals, and have end-of-year music events and traditions like the Polar bear swim which really builds university spirit.

Fees

I pay close to 40,000 currently

Scholarship

I received the outstanding international student award which is given upon admission so I didn't have to apply separately.
