  • The master of science (MSc) in actuarial science program provides advanced education and research training that prepares students for a career in industry or to continue on to PhD studies.
  • The program offers exposure to current applied and theoretical topics generally not covered by the professional exam syllabus. Students have the opportunity to gain work experience through co-operative education.
  • This program consists of required courses, elective courses, and a project for a minimum of 36 units
  • Students are expected to complete the program requirements in five terms.
  • The course work typically takes three terms, and the project, including the defense, usually takes two terms.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must complete a bachelor's degree in science or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • The related fields include a UG degree in engineering science, applied mathematics, or Mathematics.
  • A letter from referees attesting to the ability of the applicant to undertake advanced quantitative work.
  • A CGPA of at least 3.0 is required.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
  • Or, completed a master degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
  • Or, completed a 3-year UG degree with a first-class from a NAAC-accredited institution 

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.

  • Personal Statement: It should include a brief overview of themselves, strengths, and any work experience and/or education that students have.
  • A Credential evaluation report from WES Canada or ICES: If students have credentials from an institution outside of Canada or the United States, they must submit a credential evaluation report from WES Canada (course-by-course report) or ICES (comprehensive report).
  • Statement of research interests: Student has to fill their interesting research work area in the application form.
  • ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
