- The Department of Cell Biology, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, offers graduate programs leading to the MSc and Ph.D. degrees in cell biology.
- The Department provides a world-class training environment in a range of areas including organelle biogenesis and disease, neurobiology, virology, cancer apoptosis, signal transduction, proteomics, molecular evolution, RNA biology, chaperones, and pathogen-host interactions.
- Through an independent research program, complemented by seminars and formal coursework, students are trained to identify important problems, critically analyze scientific information, and effectively communicate their results.
- The Department of Cell Biology is endowed with state-of-the-art equipment needed to perform experimental work in modern cell biology. Research funding is primarily from agencies such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and the Canada Foundation for Innovation.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Applicants must have a four-year undergraduate degree (preferably Science or Engineering based) or its academic equivalent.
- Grade point average (GPA) of 3.3 out of 4.0 or B+ on a letter-based scale in the last two years (approximately 60 credits) of post-secondary study.
- Proof of English proficiency may be required for international applicants, whose first language is not English.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year UG degree (preferably Science or Engineering based) with first-class or a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Students will need to submit school results for Class XI showing a competitive average and course registration for Class XII, or Class XII mid-year results.
- Students in CBSE or CISCE schools, present 75%+ on their final Class XII exams.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

Submission of GRE scores is optional for this program, however, if students have taken the GRE then it is recommended to submit the GRE scores for a better chance of admission.

- Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
