Ques. How is the chemical engineering program at Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata? Please provide details about the infrastructure and faculty members.

● Top Answer By Deeksha Jaiswal on 04 Sept 21

Ans. I can assist you with the latest scenario of Chemical Engineering at Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata. Curriculum: Being an autonomous institute, the curriculum is pretty up-to-date. Though subjects such as Petroleum Refinery Engineering, Piping, etc are missing As the institute is new, you can see the slightest change in the syllabus over a timely basis. Faculty: Maximum teaching faculties have done their Ph.D. from reputed institutes and some even have exceptional teaching qualities. There are few, who are willing to put in extra efforts for sincere students and guide them whenever possible. Labs: Almost all labs do not have a sufficient number of apparatus which leads to students performing experiments in groups. But still, the labs are pretty much sufficient and enough to clear your basic idea about the subject. Computer Labs lack modern softwares such as Aspen, ChemCAD, etc. but recently they have started introducing FLUENT and COMSOL, MATLAB, and AUTOCAD. Research Facility: You won’t see much research happening here due to a lack of infrastructure. The project lab is not very well equipped but if want do some project you are guided by the faculty. Placements: Companies like Linde, Phillips Carbon Black Ltd., Haldia Petrochemicals, and Voith Paper recruit regularly. There is a good aura for someone who’s aspiring to crack GATE to get into some PSU and also, who wants to pursue higher studies both in India as well as abroad. Ultimately it totally depends on you and how you use the resources provided to you for your benefit and how you seize the opportunities which come to you. Read more

Ques. How is Chemical Engineering at NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Shikha Ghosal on 14 Sept 23

Ans. The Chemical Engineering branch at NIT Surathkal isn’t well-known because of its obsolete curriculum and poor placement scenario. I hope you haven’t yet joined it but if you have known that there is no turning back. It’s better to start working hard to compensate for the poor branch than to sit and regret.  It’s better to opt for Chemical in Trichy or Warangal. Otherwise, you can study hard in the 1st year and opt for a branch change. Even if you fail to get CSE/IT, even civil and mining will do.  I have many friends who joined this department recently and all of them are regretting their decision big time. Some even call it the worst in the institution. So I will recommend you to go for Chemical in NIT Warangal instead. Read more

Ques. Should I join IIT Delhi chemical or top NIT CSE?

● Top Answer By Sushmita Gupta on 01 Apr 23

Ans. Yes, irrespective of the branch, choosing IIT Delhi will always prove to be beneficial for you. IIT Delhi has ties with many big firms that visit the campus for placements and offer great packages irrespective of your branch. One needs to be proficient in DSA and other computer science core subjects such as OOPS, OS, DBMS, and Computer Networks. A good grasp of these will fetch you a high-paying job no matter which branch you belong to in IIT Delhi. Although most companies that visit IIT Delhi also visit NIT, your IIT tag will always fetch you extra benefits and no one can deny that. For instance, the same role offered to an IITiand will have more salary than that offered to a non-IITian.You can easily switch roles and fields given the brand name of the institute you are associated with. IITians even have more opportunities for higher studies in Foreign countries than non-IITians. IITians especially from Mumbai or Delhi are always given preference over non-IITians hence it is advisable to go for IIT Delhi in any branch.Read more

Ques. How is Chemical Engineering at MANIT Bhopal?

● Top Answer By Parveen Sindhu on 22 Apr 23

Ans. If you are considering the Chemical Engineering Department at MANIT Bhopal, here are some pros and cons based on the experience of a current student: Pros: The department has relatively small class sizes of around 60 students. This allows for more one-on-one interaction with professors, similar to what you may have experienced in school. The HOD (Head of Department) and senior faculty members are helpful and care about the interests of students. Despite being a newer department (started around 10 years ago), the Chemical Engineering Department has maintained decent placement records. Compared to other departments, there are fewer classes, giving you more time for yourself to prepare for future prospects such as GATE, CAT, GRE, etc. The department has better infrastructure than many other departments at MANIT, and the labs have continuously improved over the past few years. Cons: There are no professors in the Chemical Engineering Department, only Assistant Professors. This can lower the standard of education, which may not be what one would expect from an NIT. Most of the courses are taught by Contract Faculties who can be rude, non-qualified, and excessively egoistic. The department has a skewed relative grading system where no one gets a perfect 10 in any subject, even if they score as high as 97/98. This diminishes the point of having a relative grading system. There is no library in the department, and even the college library is in a state of extreme disarray. Overall, if you are considering the Chemical Engineering Department at MANIT, it is important to weigh the pros and cons mentioned above. While the department has small class sizes, helpful senior faculty members, and decent placements, it also has a lack of professors, rude contract faculties, a skewed grading system, and a lack of library resources.Read more

Ques. Which is better, chemical engineering from UICET PU Chandigarh, chemical engineering from Thapar University Patiala or computer science from CCET Chandigarh (affiliated to PU)?

● Top Answer By Pankaj Kumar on 05 Aug 21

Ans. Having a few friends from both institutes I might be able to share some facts about both the institutes. Chemical Engineering at UICET is better than Chemical at Thapar University or CSE at CCET. UICET is a well-renowned university and has a reputed department.  They have brilliant placement records and a strong alumni base. Laboratories and faculty at UICET are better than those at Thapar. Course fees at UICET for chemical engineering are very less than that in Thapar University.  Thapar is no doubt a well-reputed university but as far as chemical engineering is concerned UICET is better. CCET is affiliated with PU located in sector-26 Chandigarh. It is well known for its diploma courses. However, UICET is any day better than CCET in all terms. Categories Chemical Engineering at UICET Chemical Engineering at Thapar University CSE at CCET Chandigarh Course Fee INR 70,079 13.23 lakh 2.45 lakh Highest CTC 18 LPA 15 LPA 12 LPA Average CTC 6.31 LPA 7 LPA 4-5 LPA Recruiting Companies Honeywell, Reliance, Pfizer, Piramal Healthcare, etc. Reliance, GAIL, ONGC, GlaxoSmithKline, etc. Infosys, Godrej, L&T, HCL, etc. Your preference order should be Chemical Engineering at UICET> Chemical at Thapar University> CSE at CCET.Read more
